Evil focuses on a skeptical female forensic psychologist (Katja Herbers) who joins a priest-in-training (Mike Colter) and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there’s a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.
This is the second best moment in the entire series.

It's got some real good writing talent on it, though. Michelle and Robert King made The Good Wife and BrainDead.

X-Files was one of my favorite shows growing up, although I was always more into the monsters of the week (I just tend to prefer monster of the week episodes with a lot of these sorts of shows, honestly - they can get weirder and play with tone more)
I've also gotten less and less into science and science fiction and more and more into folklore and the occult as I've grown up, so when I've gone back to the X-Files, the difference feels all the more stark
Also, as someone who knows way more about alchemy than chemistry, I'm really excited to see a version of this that has someone who is actually trained in the magic side of things as a part of one of these
the other thing i want in the swole priest show starring mike colter is them adapting the jacob wrestling an angel story into mike colter having to best an angel played by stone cold steve austin in a pro wrestling match
I never watched x files growing up, and watching the first couple seasons as an adult really really didnt work for me
theres healthy skepticism and then theres rock stupid, and scully started to seem more the latter the 30th time she sees an alien and doesnt beleive it

It's safe to say the episodes I love most kind of play Mulder as the buffoon.

Wishful thinking, but I wanna see this Evil show investigate other CBS shows that had a supernatural/magical theme, like have them investigate angel sightings and have the cast of Touched by an Angel guest star or something. Just lean into all of the fantasy shows they've got in their library.
Talking horse? Lady in a lamp grants wishes? Bewitching witches? TJ Hooker's cursed hairpiece?!

If this turns out to be a backdoor reboot of the Dresden Files with Mike Colter as Michael Carpenter, you will know that I have two wishes left from the old lamp I found.

Literal Satan is a recurring antagonist on the X-Files.

And that's the pitch they should have gone with damn
This is not a complaint, mind you
I think Straightzi is just saying he prefers the one to the other
So you're saying he should dab on Satan

He very clearly established a dichotomy!

Scullys Law states that when a tv show is based around investigating possible supernatural elements they will always find that those elements exist.
Sorry thems the rules.
Tooms aside
also I'm rewatching BoJack Horseman and had to stop because it was giving me like, an existential crisis
now I'm gonna go to bed and pet my cat who I think loves me, probably I hope oh god
In order to correctly gage the size of your existential crisis we need to know what season you are on.
this is just the first in a series of escalating panic attacks I'm going to subject myself to
