I have a friend who teaches 6th grade and she overheard this one day:
Girl 1: Do you know who Justin Timberlake is?
Girl 2: Uhm... no.
Girl 1: He's this old guy who's in some YouTube videos...
It's utterly remarkable (and not) how everything old is new again.
And everything new is old again.
Do you feel

Just today one of my players was advertising for a local gaming group saying, "Come out and play!" and I quoted the chorus and she had no idea what I was talking about.
it's a good thing trace got it because I would've just made one of my spectacular one line posts letting you know how much I truly love every one of you
and possibly other lies we enjoy day to day

In my defense I almost always call a cell phone last because it's always harder to hear and talk to people on cells. Even if someone says, "I'm rarely at my desk, just call my cell," I'm going to call their desk first.
I'm at a bar and happening to watch a couple on a date or like afterwork hangout. They are so earnest and vulnerable and interested in each other. I can't remember the last time I was that open to another person

when you call someone from a cell phone but leave them a different number to call back
and they don't call that number
but just call the cell phone
god voicemail is dumb
But it's so easy to just touch the number that called you
As opposed to thinking about numbers and, then having to pressing them individually, like our ancestors did
Done.
Most modern smart phones have the voice to text voicemail boxes that will hyperlink what the AI thinks is a phone number. Tapping the link launches the phone dialer.

I have that modern cell phone and it only seems to try to do that transcription thing around 50% of the time. I love it and I want it all the time but it doesn't.

One guy in the group laughed real hard but he was the only one
25 years later he's the one Facebook friend I have that posted about Peter Tork's death, and I nodded knowingly

Leaving voice mail is a hateful action.
I ended up a little further than I was originally planning but I also spent like half as much so... I'm glad with that.
I'm all for making theatre more accessible and encouraging non-theatre people to go and start evening out the sea of white hair we usually sit amidst.
But goddamn if people that don't know the rules don't piss me off.
