I've been to one of the Disney parks a couple of times and it had a distinct odor to it, yeah.

So back in the 2000s, I remember thinking that the decade didn't really have it's own unique feel the way the 70s, 80s or even 90s did. But I caught The 40-Year-Old Virgin the other day, watching it for the first time since it came out way back when, and that is most definitely a movie made in the mid-2000s. Just the way people talk, the way they dress, the things they reference, the unfortunate gay panic jokes, it's all very much of its time.

What hasn't aged at all and is still my favourite thing from the movie is the absolutely random Bollywood ending set to Age of Aquarius. It is pure joy. More movies should end like that.

Noah Hawley's Doctor Doom film is still in limbo, per Hollywood Reporter
With the merger of Disney and 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets on target to close next week, the movie rights to nearly all Marvel Comics characters — including those from the Fantastic Four, held by Fox — will be under one roof.

On the surface, that could augur well for a Doctor Doom script written by Fargo and Legion showrunner Noah Hawley. He announced at Comic-Con in 2017 that he was developing a film about the Fantastic Four villain for 20th Century Fox and finished a script in 2018. Now that Fox is officially becoming part of Disney, which also owns Marvel, the IP would all be owned by the same place.

Despite that, Hawley said, the project is not yet close to a green light.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter's Bryn Elise Sandberg at South by Southwest, Hawley said he met with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who asked him of the script, "Are you still working on it?"

"Should I still be working on it?" Hawley replied. But no concrete answer was forthcoming.

Hawley added he's not certain when, or if, the project might move forward. He joked that Feige wouldn't reveal the "thousand-year plan" for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to him.
Hawley said during the panel, as he has before, that he envisions Doctor Doom as a geopolitical thriller more than a standard superhero movie. It begins with Doom putting a dome over Latveria, the fictional European country he rules. He later invites a female journalist to be his voice to the world, meaning its protagonist would be someone without superpowers.

Sandberg also asked whether Hawley had been approached about creating content for Disney+, the company's forthcoming streaming service. He hasn't yet, he said — "I think FX [where Hawley has been based for the past five years] is protective of me," he said.

Listen, as someone who scribbled down some notes on a story idea that was The Thick of It/Veep but in Latveria I am all about that idea.

It won't happen, but I would watch it.

William Baldwin has been surprisingly busy lately. This really terrible looking movie, which also features Michael Madsen and Paul Sorvino, just hit VOD - today, I think.

"Video game designer Matt Booth has one shot to save his career by unveiling his biggest project yet at the Video Game Awards in New Mexico. But after running into a friend at the airport and having a little too much to drink before his flight, he ends up in ACTUAL Mexico - specifically, Acapulco. As soon as he lands, he finds himself on the run from high-powered criminals, deadly hitmen and the Feds, all looking for a mysterious package that he has allegedly smuggled through customs yet knows nothing about. Partnering with a badass, beautiful femme fatale and channeling his inner video game action hero, the pair unravels a conspiracy that could shake the foundation of the United States, maybe even the world."

William Baldwin's character is named Drake Savage.

Yeah I think Cinderella didn't have much substance but its a fuckin stunning movie to look at

Cinderella set itself up to be a super interesting movie and then dropped all the world building at the beginning to just do the by the numbers Disney Cinderella.

It was fine, but it had me hoping for a lot more and then didn’t go anywhere with it.

An action movie about a video game designer, with a Baldwin and Michael Madsen?

All of it. All of the cocaine. It started during the writing process and just kept on snowballing.

80’s/90’s porn parody titles were great. Now it’s all “Not the Brady Bunch” or “The Phantom Thread: A XXX Parody” (no idea if that one is real, but it probably is). No imagination.

My late opinion on Aladdin is that my favourites part is that the city of Agrabah looks like a high budget set from a 90's tv show and for whatever reason I dig it.
