I heard there are some major flaws in this movie. It looked cool but I dunno. I'll probably check it out if it hits the bargain bin.
Also, please stop mentioning blue-ray, we just switched over to DVD's dammit.
I know blu-ray and hd-dvd's are pretty pointless and stupid right now, and a hi-def format won't really become totally adopted (in the same vein as DVD) for probably another 5 or more years, but I have this movie on blu-ray and let me tell you it looks amazing.
I saw this movie and I was so fucking confused I'm not even sure I liked it. I would watch it again but dammit I just got out of school and I don't want to have to think for the next three months

It's just like...fuck. And DVD's cost LESS to produce than VHS but oh my god if you don't have them you must be poor so here, shell out thirty fucking dollars for it
GOD if I have to switch again I'm going to be so pissed.
WHerever they go the goddamn prices of housing and rent go through the fucking roof and Ima be in a shopping cart and they boast their fucking super wide-screen shit through their bigass condo windows all looking down on ME for not owning property and they started the whole , "OH you don't have DVD's yet?"

Fucking yuppies.
The upgrade from VHS to DVD was a much much bigger leap than the DVD to Blu-ray/HDDVD jump is. I mean.. do you really like VHS that much? It was such an awful format.

Like I said, 5 years when most people have and can afford all HD equipment, a switch will happen. I'm guessing blu-ray, as it's already vastly beating HD-DVD in the current format way, and actually looks a little bit better since it can hold more memory.
I haven't even switched, The Fountain is the only blu-ray movie I own, and I was fortunate enough to get a PS3 for xmas. Until there's one unified HD disc, standard HD players in my computer, and relatively cheap HD players on sale for my living room HDTV, it's pointless to do it.
edit: And yeah, the jump is really small in quality but big in price. Upconverted DVD's on HD displays look very good. blu-ray/HD-DVD is just for the videophiles or high-rollers right now mostly.

Agreed DVD is better, the next thing is always better, but do we fucking need it?
It's the leap in fucking money that's what sucks. At first I resisted, but then pretty soon the whole store is DVD and girls look at your video collection and go 'ew', don't you have DVD's yet? Don't you care about things?" And then in order to have sex I have to start buying DVD's goddamnit, next it will be these blu stupid things and then chips in my fucking brain god

that's a pretty shitty mentality, progress is always needed
Progress isn't even real.
Yeah, how is better entertainment progress? in the, lets get rid of disease and hunger and go into space sort of way? That's like saying being able to go on stage with the stripper and touch her is progress.

Absolutely not.

there's no money in it
I don't know about you guys, but I watch all the special features on my DVDs. They're the best thing about having DVDs.
(Not a yuppie.)
yes dammit, until we solve our other problems at least

exactly, but there's money in making people buy a higher-resolution image and make them feel guilty for not owning it
I made a TD for iphone and windows phone!

and it's the same with everything
but people call me defeatist
more like aware of how the world works
ending world hunger
