[Heroes of the Storm] Coronavirus can't kill HotS if it's already dead #rollsafe
Messy ass games this morning but we won them all, so I guess I can't really complain. Help me understand Rexxar? People say he's OP as fuck but I literally always dominate him in lane, and whenever I play him I never get the value people say I'm supposed to get. Was it just because I was up against a Hanzo that I was struggling so hard up top? I know my Rexxar could ABSOLUTELY improve but I literally couldn't even touch him. If he'd have gone Redemption I think he would have CRUSHED.

Depends on who you are facing.
I was playing as Rexxar vs Zagara, and was just dunking on her, top lane on spiders. She calls Hammer to help, i still kill Zag and get Hammer to half before i had to go drink at well.
Then a different game, was up against an Illidan and could not make a dent in him while he ignored the bear and ate my face. Repeatedly.

I mean yeah, Hanzo can just hang back and pepper Misha with Qs and AAs and bully her real good. If you try to get Misha close to him he just backs off. A lot of ranged AA heroes can bully out Misha in lane due to this.
All I can say is make liberal fucking use of Mend Pet, and pull Misha back when she's getting blasted.
For the most part it's not about bullying the other person out, it's simply about winning the lane. And you do that by Misha being unkillable and you being able to clear better than they can. Most of the time what happens is that your lane opponent will be trading into Misha and losing that trade, either health or mana or both. And Misha just heals the fuck up forever. But you also gotta keep an eye on her and reel her out when she's taking too much damage. Mend Pet heals her back to full you send her back in.
Also try and leverage the fact that you do have two bodies up there. Misha is good, yeah, but Rexxar's AAs also hit really hard and landing Q can line up for an easy stun. It depends on Hero matchup a bit though, sometimes you don't want to take too much damage on Rexxar himself.
The other last piece of advice I can give is either go Hunter-Gatherer or Animal Husbandry at 4. That makes you both THAT MUCH HARDER to kill, especially Husbandry (but it's a slower burn and more high risk high reward).
But yeah the tl;dr is just keep a close eye on Misha, try and make sure she's not taking too much free damage, micro her constantly. Alt+D will make her run back to you instantly with increased movespeed. For point contention, you just slap her on the point, have her attack whoever comes near, Rexxar soaks the lane safely.
I would have liked to see stats on how many games had lead changes between last year and this year. Like, say, the percentage of games where the first team to hit 10 ended up being the losing team, and if that's changed since the 2019 update.

As a general rule, ranged beats melee in a 1v1. The reason you don't see ranged as solo laners at high level play is because they will get ganked, not because they lose the duel.
Rexxar is best on maps where you need point control because you can't kill Misha and he can still clear the wave relatively easily. But that doesn't mean he outright wins per se, especially if you can get on him.
I'm a big proponent of taking ranged solo laners against uncoordinated competition, or if you are comfortable that you can outskill your opponents and not get ganked. In the case of facing a Rexxar, for example, if you take a ranged solo laner that has a stacking/scaling component, even "losing" the top lane or the objective early on isn't a big deal because you are trading an early structure for a massive mid-/late-game advantage. Zul'jin is an obvious choice here, but there are others like Zag and Raynor who have talents that would otherwise not be viable who turn into tank busters if you let them stack.
Rexxar works very similarly to old Yrel in drafts - if you aren't taking the hero and the other team does, then you are generally conceding the solo lane point and either have to draft to win the 4-man or you are conceding the early game and expect to outscale your opponent later on. This is generally hard for players to understand, especially in QM (where there's no draft at all), so instead what you will see is that your team loses the early game, falls behind, and it snowballs because you don't have the tools or strategy to scale back up.
One thing I've been thinking about lately is that Blizzard maybe gave heroes too much differentiation in terms of game time power scaling, given the team experience dynamic.
I always take Hunter-Gatherer on Rexxar. Husbandry is just too win-more for me. That 15 armor is so strong and worth the delayed payoff for me.
There's definitely a point at which Husbandry gives you way, way more EHP than HG does, but HG is still a really good talent. I don't think one is strictly better than the other, but playstyle-wise I tend to prefer Husbandry.
The thing I like about Husbandry though is that it means you eventually become un-fucking-killable and it enables you to make some ULTRA aggressive plays because of your massive health pool. Husbandry plus Thrill of the Hunt means you can get super fucking aggro with your positioning.
I like Hunter-Gatherer and Animal Husbandry, but I had to take Hungry Bear in that match because Hanzo was eating Misha alive and I was burning my mana hard spamming Mend Pet. I didn't see any other way to make it work.

H-G gives you a ~17% EHP increase, so Husbandry definitely outclasses it if you don't die. I just worry about getting killed mid-late game and then it's basically like I don't have a level 4 talent unless the game goes on for another 10 minutes. Like I said, it's a win-more thing which is fine if you can keep it, but I don't trust myself, my team, etc. to keep me alive unless it's a game where we're kicking ass anyway.
Oh man, Aether Walker teleport Li Ming is pretty fun. At least when you're in a game that's going well. Twitchy as hell though. Also, talk about mana tension.
Queued for QM, happened to get into the game with MMMaguy on my team. Different person from MMMig, not sure if both are in the forums.
I was playing Deckard, and the beginning was a bit rough, several deaths in our team in first minutes, enemy soaking a level and half advantage going into first objective. Which we won! And every objective after! Just before first bot objective we got greedy and only 2 of us survived a push to bot lane inner walls. I go "wait for everyone then push in, don't die early" and we did it!
I think they got one of our forts maybe.
I ended up getting MVP with 1 kill, 20 assists, 0 deaths. Awww yeah, you get a potion, you get a potion, check under your seats everyone gets a potion.

Good matches last night. I wanted to stick around for more, but we'd won 3 in a row (that last one on Volskaya being a major shitshow) and it was already 1:30am. I've been down that road before, lol.

You ever had a night where you kept eating your opponent's lunch all and nothing could stop you?
Because this shit keeps happening tonight.

Any time I've done Unranked lately, it's been a complete joke: queue takes forever; ridiculous bans (poor initial bans, then banning out a support after the other team's already picked one, etc); allies showing the "healer preference" icon first-picking off-meta assassins; allied solo lane heroes not going to the solo lane, then bitching me out for not having any hero damage when I'm on Zeratul and I've been forced to stay in the solo lane all match while they've been been brawling over bullshit and so obviously have high hero damage, etc.
Like it's a complete joke. I'd rather just play QM, where the expectation all along is that it's going to be a fucking mess. If we have a 5 stack, sure, let's draft. But other than that, fuck it. I'd rather embrace the bullshit.
In both UD and SL I've found a lot of people ignoring whatever there role tag is set to, it worked well for a couple weeks after it rolled out but yea, I think there at just far too few people who main a role
Or they stopped caring and just haven't changed it.
