What's the overlay do?

The main thing within the context of me playing HOTS is that it provides the controls for NVIDIA shadowplay. There are alternative options for recording gameplay, but shadowplay is pretty nice.

It also provides controls for other neat features like Ansel, which is really sweet of taking kickass photogenic screenshots. But that's not so applicable during a match of HOTS.

I mean, Durance is a really good ult. It's what Lothrien always goes and when he's on Mephisto and I'm on Maiev other teams weep at the carnage. The level 20 upgrade for Durance is also stupid sick.

But like.

Consume souls is free global damage that can wipe an enemy team.

You can very easily win a game single handidly with the level 20 upgrade too.

Mephisto is one of those characters who is lucky to have two really good ults.

Multiple times in Brawls, I've had teams that choose to go in without a Healer, even though Tyrande was an option, because "Tyrande's not a real healer". And it's like, she's arguably the best healer in the game. I had a guy ask me what my rank was, and tell me I was "objectively wrong" about Tyrande being a good healer.

And at that point, you just gotta laugh and let it go. Like if you're that clueless, or that Silver, that you think the best or second-best Healer in the game is trash, and you're going to insult people to defend that ignorant position, then there's nothing left to do but laugh and move on.

The thing about tyrande is that she's got a bit of a skill floor to get over before she starts being great.

She's significantly weaker in the hands of players who struggle to get their auto attacks in amidst their casting.

I fully agree about her being great though. She has cleanses for days and ludicrous healing output in the hands of someone who's good with her.

Oh, I totally understand. Like, if you are in a lower skill bracket, you're going to get more value out of heroes that have lower skill floors. Absolutely. You can tell a lot about players by the heroes they choose, actually. I've been talking a lot about Classic WoW lately, actually, and I've been running across a similar issue there, where I've been telling people I'm going to main a Fury Warrior in Classic, and you get one of two responses that are pretty clear indications of the progression levels of the responders in Vanilla: Fury Warriors are extraordinarily gear-dependent, so if you're talking to someone who never did much beyond Molten Core and BWL, they'll tell you that Fury Warriors were garbage and that Hunters (who are extraordinarily not gear dependent) were incredible. Or, if you're talking to someone who actually did progress into AQ40 and OG Naxx, they'll tell you the exact opposite --- that Fury Warriors were insane and Hunters were dead weight.

It all just kind of depends on where you fall on the spectrum of end-game raiding, just like how lower-tiered players will tell you that lower-tiered heroes in HotS are better than others who are objectively more competitive, higher skill heroes.

Ah, man. I wasn't paying attention to the names in that match, who were you on? I had a hell of a time, because our Hanzo and Thrall were completely useless. I feel like our Thrall had 15+ deaths, right? I don't typically pick up health return on cleave, but I felt like I had to since everyone was clumping up and you guys had the Samuro. I got value out of it, but was still dying a ton. Every time I tried to intervene to help the Thrall, he'd die anyway and I'd die trying to help. Eventually, I just stopped. Thankfully, our Hanzo came online toward the end and was able to just spam his ulti.

Your Thrall died a lot for sure. I disagree that your Hanzo was useless. He did a ton of damage and seemed to be responsible for most the kills.

I was playing Li Ming and I'm positive we would have won if I didn't get fucked twice by glitchy Teleports that should have cleared walls but didn't. Those were infuriating.

as someone who hasn't played mages in ages, i did like 5 KT games over the weekend and he's pretty bonkers. After playing around with anduin's root, once you go back to KT it's fuckin ridiculous. Just let me dual anyone in the game; get 20 orbs and F mana tension

I can count the number of times I've seen a Junkrat score a kill with Rocket Ride outside of a Funniest Moments / WTF video on one hand, and yet I constantly see people take it. Meanwhile, RIP-Tire is easily one of the most powerful and impactful ultimates in the game.

It boggles the mind.

i only take it if i'm going to be like HARD DIVED and at that point i use it defensively/as an escape

it still doesn't feel great to use, even if it prevents a death

Rip tire also roots you and it can be killed off before doing anything.
The rocket is an escape as much as anything else.

I'm fairly certain you take the Rocket Ride ult in 100% of the matches that have an opposing CS Varian so you can bait him to your Core.
