Never watch anime OPs if you don't want to be spoiled on shit.
That's the number one thing that OP makers like to do, hide little hints about what's gonna happen in the arc.
It's why a dude has made a career out of analyzing all the bullshit that goes into anime OPs.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

My demon king grandpa is funny enough. I dont get why dude was so freaked out by getting adopted( pre the threat of being ate). His old family sucked ass.
He has no magic, is a human among human-eating demons, and is being purposefully thrust into the upper tiers of the school with nothing but his wits.

When I talk about 'bad anime but it added to my playlist' I'm compelled to mention the best part of any Mahou Sensou episode being the ED.
When the credits start, it means the shit is over AND the nano starts! Win/win!
Fanservicey opening seconds and a bunch of melodramatic Engrish (I did say it was nano), you've been warned if you go find it on vimeo (where obscure anime OPs and EDs that don't get spam reuploaded go to live).
Or you could just go find 'Born to Be' by nano, but I think the strange jump in animation and STYLE over the terrible anime it was attached to is part of what made me enjoy it so much initially.
There's also lot of good OPs and EDs attached to fanservice-laden battle harem LN adaptations in general, but I enjoy that sort of trash so it doesn't count.
(Really, it says a lot about how awful Mahou Sensou was that I think it was awful)

I hope this gets better because I'm not really getting the impression that these kids are as intelligent as the narrative would have us believe.
tl;dr: is this show a marxist plot to show us the stupidity of the ruling class?
It's actually an educational piece, showcasing how in some cases natural selection culls specimens from the gene pool in unexpected ways, despite what you would think of as exceptional traits for survival.
This OP song is like 100% peak supercell, the anime is well-drawn and animated, there are cool machines and sci-fi whatnots in it.... but the story is rubbish.
Almost everybody I know who watched through the whole thing having been drawn in by the music and art came away with the same sentiment: "man, what a waste".

I'd suggest that Love & Roll is in fact peak Supercell, but yeah, Guilty Crown's definitely on my list of 'download the music, skip the show' series.
I actually prefer the second OP by Egoist, but they're both great.
The first season had some awesome music (MYTH & ROID ED! Suzuki Konomi OP!) and I liked it, but I have no clue how it went over.
I see it did get a second season, though, which I haven't seen because oops it came out in the brief gap where I had dropped off anime and manga pretty hard.

Here's a show with a great OP, incredible design and some really great, interesting ideas.
And it's just incredibly boring, and somehow makes all the worst decisions possible with the strong ideas and designs it starts with.
