Magia Record anime will have to play out before the movie happens, but during interviews for that one, it sounded like they were still thinking of doing a Rebellion sequel. Thankfully, I did think Magia Record was quite interesting, so hopefully Covid doesn't super prolong the wait for that second season.

I do not anticipate Magia Record anime receiving a warm welcome as the gacha game it's based on has announced its imminent shutdown only AFTER running a series of highly-desirable banners back to back.

Has Urobuchi done anything new, series-wise? I kind of wish he'd do a new project rather than go back to the Madoka well.
There's the dip into dumb-fuck shounen I was dreading expecting! I mean, bigger than usual.
We're just going to dispense with most of the food descriptions and immediately make Big Bad a copypasta chef EXCEPT STRONGER SOMEHOW and watch while he obliterates everyone while talking about how badass he is. Also, having Takumi and Megumi going up against their fellow main characters in the same episode at the same time is a little too on the nose. Like, I never expected either of them to make it to the final round, but come on now.
Should have had Takumi go against Asahi though, then at least his jobbing would have been consistent.

The last arc is super bad yeah
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

He's been working steadily on the fantastic Thunderbolt Fantasty series. It's Wuxia with Taiwanese puppetry, and it is gorgeous. There's 2 seasons and 2 movies out so far, and a third season is in production, with a third season to come.
Food Wars is just one of those things that overstays its welcome. It has some extremely problematic elements throughout, but the first couple of seasons really care about the culinary stuff, and there's just so little else like it
One of my culinary school classmates got me into it, and I've made a bunch of recipes from the front half of the show to great success, so it'll always have a special place in my heart in spite of the, uh, burnt bits
I heard that close to the end, a crew member who was their main consultant on the food stuff left the team.
Before the Central arc hit the halfway point I think. Which is why the big Shokugeki became less focused on technical details when being described and more descriptions. It just got worse from there into straight shonen powers.
Someone else in an earlier anime thread pointed this out that Souma's theme of making food for the masses meant that he was always making dishes with common everyday ingredients you can pick up in your local grocery store and recreate yourself. You can tell when the professional chef they had as a consultant left cause the focus switched over to using hard to find rare ingredients.
New series this week has great art, but feels pretty rote. There's a graveyard of manga following this same idea just from the past 5 years alone, so I'm not sure why they keep going back to that well.
Time Paradox Ghostwriter is done and the ending felt so flat. Only so much you can do when rushed to completion, but bleh.

None of the new Jump series lately have been resonating with me, so my reading list is the shortest I can ever remember it being.

This is the first I've heard of Magia Record. I'll have to check it out!

An option of having the appropriate language spoken at all times, instead of just the first half of the first episode, would be neat.
But like... the main guy's actor couldn't speak english. He was just reading it off a paper. He probably took a couple required english classes growing up and that's it.
I've watched a dub before that was done by people that didn't speak english. It was so so distractingly bad. They emphasize the wrong words because they don't know what they mean. You can't act in a language you don't understand.
I mean, people can and people do. You can learn stuff phonetically, and I am aware that some opera singers do not understand the shit they are singing.
A little late, but yeah I've gone to do concerts and had no clue what I was supposed to be singing till I got there. They just hand you the music on arrival. It wasn't always in English and you're expected to sightread it and sing it. You get a couple of practice runs and then it's showtime.
Singers can cheat though because the music gives you a lot of context clues. I think a script would be much harder if they didn't have proper notation.

That’s a good point. And the show has indeed given me inspiration for some meals, so I can definitely say it has worked in that early part.
Assassination Classroom is airing on Toonami now for those who haven't seen it.
It's a little bit of a slow start (and the pacing in the manga is better than the anime, but the anime is still good), but it's well worth a watch.
Probably one of the most "complete" things I've ever read since Fullmetal Alchemist. When my friends and I did a Jump podcast, it basically won our favorite series every year it was running.

Dragonball Super had all it's op dubbed in English. Results were mixed.
Also I watched Assasination Classroom on Toonami on Sat and liked it! I actually enjoyed how they didn't spend time with setup, or at least not as much as I expected. I'll probably keep watching it (I'm old and still like having something to look forward to every week)

Cells at Work had its OP fully dubbed in English as well.
You know what I miss? English dubbed theme songs. We should bring them back.
As long as they're good(Working Designs) and not awful(Bubblegum Crisis), sure.
No, especially if they're awful.
The problem with that is that a listener might hear the awful version if they're listening to English by default and never know that an actually talented version exists.

Been on vacation and trying to clear my backlog of shows and games, so I gave the 2nd season a try. It was much better!

Makima is the worst.

Lots and lots of body horror
Also people being cool.

See, now I'm tempted to post the One Piece opening we know and love, implying that it is included in what you are referring to.
Conversely, I'm enjoying Occultic;Nine a lot so far, apart from the... questionable character designs.
