Rocksteady's [Suicide Squad] and WB Montreal's [Gotham Knights]
WB Montreal meanwhile has been working on Gotham Knights, a game that takes in a new bat-universe, has co-op, several characters and a whole new map to explore on the Batcycle.
Looking at it now, I can see it being Supes because the target over his head. But the choice to go with a purple color palette plus his craggly looking face, it still could go either way
Curious if this will feature the Batman from Arkham
I have a series of thoughts on this game, which are all inter-related. Needless to say, how I feel about this reveal is complicated.
-Rocksteady is an amazing game studio, and the Arkham Trilogy are legit some of my most favorite games of all time.
-Suicide Squad is not on *any* of my own personal lists of intellectual properties I care about. I would say that Suicide Squad falls firmly into "i am extremely indifferent and apathetic about Suicide Squad."
-I am disappointed that Rocksteady's amazing talent as a studio is being put towards an IP that I am so apathetic about.
-I know rumors of a Rocksteady SS game have been floating around for months now, so I am definitely not surprised by this announcement.
-I am, however, disappointed that the rumors turned out to be true.
-I was secretly holding out hope that Rocksteady's next game would either be on another hero, my own personal picks would have been a Green Arrow game. Or if I really wanted to dream big, a Green Lantern game since GL is my most favorite superhero ever.
-Additionally, I would have been pleased with a JLA video game made by Rocksteady
-Without knowing any details at all about the game, including what kind of game it even is, who the playable characters are, what the plot is, or anything else, I am disappointed.
-There's room in my heart to be won over if it's good enough. I have faith that Rocksteady will deliver a great game no matter what.
-Even if Rocksteady delivers the greatest Suicide Squad game that could ever conceivably exist, I will still be disappointed that it is not a JLA game, or Green Arrow, or Green Lantern.
That's pretty much a chronicle of my internal thoughts on this game.
I wonder how much the game will focus on Harley Quinn.

I feel like the lack of excitement is probably unfounded. I don’t know what members of the Arkham team that made those games great may have left Rocksteady, but assuming much of the lineup remains, they make very solid, polished games. Suicide Squad may sound unexciting, but that’s only because of the first Suicide Squad movie than anything else. There’s a lot of cool characters to put to use. There’s a ton of potential in the roster, like getting to play as King Shark. It’s no Rocksteady TMNT game, but it’s probably closer to that than you think.
I mean, it could be a letdown, but I really see no reason to set expectations in that direction just yet.
I feel like they choose Suicide Squad because it plays to their strengths. I don't know if anyone can make a good JL game but we'll see.

John Henry Irons was part of the Suicide Squad for a brief moment. I'm just saying that would be a very good hero to be the cipher for the player and still have some Superman in it, Bizarro am cool villain.
If they made it like Fire Emblem or Valkyria Chronicles where a character dies and they die (and keeping to the Squad name), that could add some fun strategy and replayability.

Rumors a couple years back were that they were working on a TMNT game. This is disappointing for me as well.
I assume the Justice League are infected by whatever and the SS are called in to rein them in. Then Superman just grabs each and everyone and rips them in half and the game is done. Ha, just kidding but no seriously, the only way any of the suicide squad is winning is because the plot demands it. Comics!
That never made any sense, particularly in any versions where the squad was some sort of backup plan against metahumans like Superman. Superman has gone rogue! Who can we get to stop him? Let's start with a guy using a boomerang and go from there.

I mean, I always figure that a clue about their intended chance of success is in the name...
Super hyped until I read live service . Still as long as :
It’s fun
Harley doesn’t take over it (I love old Harley but recently she feels forced in everything I see her in)
It has a coherent plot ( a problem for both dc and marvel as of late but rocksteady can probably deliver)
And this lasT one is optional But Arkham asylum & city felt like a Batman TAS episode . Would love if they somehow managed to retain that golden age dc animation feeling .
Holy crap, I must have missed the MK where Kano works behind the till at a gas station, "LIU KANG YOU SONUVABITCH, DO YOU WANT A BURRITO WITH THAT FILLUP?"
Captain Boomerang was also pretty well represented in Arrow.
I can't help but wonder if the recent surge in Suicide Squad popularity isn't a direct response to how well represented it was in Arrow.
Basically, in my mind, Arrow comes out in 2012, has a really good run and has some really good coverage of Amanda Waller, Floyd Lawton, Deathstroke, and other members of the squad. The success of the first few seasons of Arrow sparks an idea for them to make a movie, which I didn't think it was terrible, but I also didn't think it was good. It just kind of was. And James Gunn is now making a sequel or something. And anyway, I can't help but wonder if the initial success of Arrow is what has led us to this point where Rocksteady is now putting all of their talent and effort into a Suicide Squad game, where before that it's very likely that a lot of the mainstream hadn't even heard of it.
Alt post - Literally none of Rocksteady's games have been bad, and Montreal has a decent record too. I'm more optimistic based on the trailer alone than I was for the original reveal of Diet Avengers 😅
I'm "assuming" that is not in-engine, but it was in-character funny so they have the tone right. I wonder if this is alternate universe and they go all in on killing the League, or if it plays on the anti-hero stuff and they end up freeing the League and saving the day. Everyone in the trailer plays kind of the same so that would make it easy for character swapping. I just hope it isn't yet another online co-op or GaaS setup.
i don't think its Bizzaro. looks like Brianiac has him(and the rest of the JL) under mind control.
Ohhh, okay now I'm on board. For some reason in the teaser image it looked like his face was messed up, but that's also a likely option
yeah i think they're just going for the old 'vein-y corruption around the eyes' visual shorthand. there's definitely something there, but nothing else about the design suggests that its Bizzaro.

Also, Bizarro isn't a member of the Justice League.
To be fair (to myself) they've done the 'bizzaro dresses like Superman to ruin his career' thing a thousand times, and his eye lasers are usually purple/blue in contrast to Supes, and finally he often has the same craggly look to his eyes.
So forgive me for getting excited/ahead of myself, because he's a great character in the right hands

Add me!
I expect a Gears of War / Army of Two co-op style of game.
Want to play ranged? Go Deadshot + Rick Flag.
Want melee? Play Harley Quinn + Killer Croc.
Also, skill trees.

edit: Hopefully it's the same model as the Batman games, honestly that style or whatever really just works.
IIRC he died at some point and his bastard son took his place with Nightwing's Outsiders.
But reboots happen.
I think MK's writers modeled Kano after him. Both of them Australians.
