Eh. It is weird that women aren't allowed to have the full gambit of facial expressions cause god forbid it might cause their face to wrinkle and for them not to be perfect waifus.
And I think as character rendering technology gets better the differences become more and more obvious. To the point that it looks strange that these characters are all in the same game.
It isn't a deal breaker for me but it is one of those "lol casual sexism" things.
And 2/3 of the men there don't have wrinkles either so I'm not sure what we're supposed to be gathering from those portraits
Males characters have far more facial definition I don't really think you could look at those photos and say it isn't true. It isn't just wrinkles it's stuff like jawline, cheek definition, heavier usages of "lines"(female characters have some lines but they are all very soft). All stuff that makes a face look more human.
And it isn't an age thing cause Nina and Jun are older than Jin.
i just wanna talk about a game without wading through an open sewer of discourse about tifa's tits or ashleys panties or cammy's pants or elena's cleavage
and then cuz i guess the pendulums always gotta swing in the other direction, here comes r/tekken, on a crusade because the women are too pretty

I guess I should try a Tekken eventually. Without having touched it, it always looks kinda janky and weird, so I just thought that if I wanted to do a 3D fighter I'd play SC instead. But it seems to be thriving, so my outsider perception must be off.

Tekken has always been the bigger of Namco's 3D series.
SC has a following but it has yet to really catch on like Tekken has. And while a SC7 is possible I don't see it happening for a while.
As far as Tekken looking janky that has more to do with that fact that a lot of animations get reused from game to game so you have animations from decades ago still being used.
But I think T8 has redone a lot of stuff which is why it looks a bit smoother.

This VF5 winners final match between Paul and lili Jacky and Pai is damn good
it's certainly true that women's appearance is a place that a lot of casual sexism manifests in character design but also it's completely exhausting for allegedly well-meaning people to only be capable of spotting casual sexism when it relates to women's appearance. like you heard the complaint but you didn't fully internalize it
And it isn't an age thing cause Nina and Jun are older than Jin.
Well, Jun Kazama has been off doing *whatever* for years, so, who can say if she was even aging?
And Nina Williams was cryogenically frozen, so, don't know how long she's been actively aging.
In summary: Tekken's lore is tremendously dumb

Eh. It's one of those things that people are gonna say what they want to say depending on their stance so I don't care to go back and forth about it.
I don't care much myself as much as I just think it looks bad. Kind of like when MK11 gave some female characters more reasonable clothing and more restrained busts and people lost their minds over it. I didn't understand that cause I thought the character design in MK9 looked dumb.
I do wonder if Tekken continues this trend how it'll look as the tech gets better. It wasn't as noticeable in T7 cause everyone had anime face. But it is gonna start looking kind of weird down the line.
It's only tangentially related but Counterstrike is adding a new crosshair option which follows your recoil.
I have already seen so many arguments that are identical to people screaming about how Hitboxes aren't real fighting sticks.

Vanessa Lewis from Virtua Fighter.
VF4 on the left, VF5 redesign on the right.
Oh, and completely unrelated to her visual design, in VF5 she has amnesia, and her character bio says that she's trying to figure out what happened during her blackout.
Asuka too! God damn, did not think they'd have two characters to show after all the trailers they put out this week

Hmm...the initial Tekken Roster is gonna be very interesting. I figure they are gonna have a lot of mainstays but probably a smaller initial roster than they usually do.
Got over my brain and played a few hours of Ranked as Juri for the first time, wasn't going to be surprised if I dropped to Rookie (I was like, Ultra Bronze at the highest with Karin and Sakura anyway), dipped close but I ended up stable right where I started in Super Bronze.
Feel like I should be able to climb by just playing for a while. I don't know what other characters can do really yet, so sometimes I just get wiped by one or two new tricks I haven't seen before. Also still terrible at converting.

There's kind of a Gamer (tm) moment against people pointing it out.
