I wanted to try making cookies in my new oven, but I have never made cookies, so I figured the best solution was to buy frozen cookie dough.

I think Might and Magic 9 was a buggy mess.

yeah 4 and 5 connect together into World of Xeen. There is also Swords of Xeen which is a side game made with that engine.

Then 6 and 7 are the 3d ones with good gameplay (though they look like ass compared to the 2d games). And 8 and 9 (moreso 9) are kind of a mess.

MM3 is also well worth playing. It was where they had their massive leap forward in UI and artwork. MM 1&2 keep taunting me cause there is a lot of stuff I like about them but they are just a bit too far for me in terms of old UI problems. And being stupid hard.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™ is still kind of expensive on gog. $15.99

I don't know if it is a pain to install from my discs on Windows 10.

    Where did you look?

It’s usually stocked in the vicinity of the dairy…cheese, yogurt, sour cream, butter etc. Usually not in the milk cooler though.

Getting close to my second platinum in a week with Dishonored 2.

All I have to do is a handful of collectible achievements on this high chaos run and then Mostly Flesh and Steel (no powers) run. I am excited about the no powers run because it will be a really interesting challenge. It will be good not to care about collectibles either and just mostly speed run the game - though I will need to do the stupid Musicians quest (I cannot do that on High Chaos because they won't spawn at the third place sadly).

I watched The American yesterday with Clooney and man that is a remarkably bad movie

Like, its got Clooney, but they make him act like an asshole so any baseline level of charisma he might elevate the movie with is gone

I am completely thrown right now. I walked into my regular dive and this beautiful woman with intense cali vibes immediately attaches herself to me - she had an intense vocal fry and sun drenched hair and was bizarrely insistent on talking to me. All my floozy sensors were going off so I kept trying to brush her off to no avail - at best she must have been a yellow fever chaser or a swindler, right?

Anyway her friends walk in eventually and like, completely redeem her. I was blown away. And then she has the grace (the undeserved Mercy) to hug me and whisper in my ear like at the end of lost in translation, before disappearing from my life forever.

I'm going to spend the rest of my life kicking myself over building this damned wall around my heart

The issue in this case isn't the doctor, it's the pharmacy and the laws in CA. I'll bitch more about it when I'm not on a phone keyboard, but I'm at the third pharmacy so far because of this bullshit.

But it’s the laws that require this nonsense. Drop the script requirements, drop the nonsense. If you need medicine, go get it. Because let me ask you this. If your medicine is low, and there is a supply chain issue, or a major earthquake/mudslide/sinkhole cuts the area off for a month. Do you have enough to cover? What about folks on bipolar meds, or insulin.

The laws and system are designed to benefit everyone but the folks that need the medicine.

One thing I've noticed moving from youth to adult is the barrier to entry for video games is steep.

I don't think it's intentional, but like movies, tv, radio, books, all free or cheap, and you can easily loan them out to people to invite them to partake of your culture.

Video games, they either have to have the right setup, or you have to have them over to your home.

Like it becomes a partner's activity by default in a lot of cases.

    Just a random thought.
I mean, I think that with smartphones (and even with flip phones), gaming has become democratized in a way. Everyone has a "console" in their pocket. A LOT of people play video games on their phone. It's true that the niche hobbyist stuff is inaccessible to them, but that's always the case with hobbies, I feel. There are definitely a lot of books, movies, and TV shows that avid viewers will watch that aren't really all that aesthetically accessible to the masses (if not financially, which I agree is your point here).

The big barrier to entry, I find, for video games is dual analog sticks. This is the default control configuration for modern games, but if you skipped out on the generation of consoles just after the PS1/Dreamcast era when it transitioned to dual analog sticks, you have no idea how to even control console games at a basic level. A lot of people in my generation grew up playing Nintendo and SNES games, but they are completely lost now if you hand them even a modern Switch controller.

That is probably true in the better timeline but not in ours. Mobile gaming is a complete shitshow. And I only use "gaming" here in the same way that they call casino gambling "gaming". Other than ports from PC games (made very difficult to play by the crappy controls) it is super hard to find any game at any price on Android that isn't a crappy slot machine where you can never win. There are a few. The non "free to play" Kairosoft games for example.

I have 220 games wishlisted on Steam. The other day I really wanted something new on my phone and went looking to buy a game. I could not find a single game at any price that wasn't either a PC port with bad controls or a manipulative shitty skinner box.

If you want something cool on your phone check out Twinfold. It's like 3 bucks and it's a smart and easy to pick up puzzler on phones. The guy who made it has made a few other games too if you like it. @RiemannLives
