Lawrence of Arabia has some problematic casting and a white savior narrative and it loves the desert much more than it loves the Bedouins and etc etc etc, but also like holy shit what a movie. Also if you gotta have one white savior you should definitely have Lawrence, who's at least a very interesting one, a dude who's halfway convinced he's divine and half a conman who's so busy staying on top of this whole confidence scheme he's dreamed up that if he slows down or doubts himself for a second everything's gonna come crashing down. Also the first character I ever watched in a movie where I'm like, ok the movie's not saying he's gay, but he's definitely gay.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

There are a lot of Godzilla movies.
But there are a near infinite number of horror franchise sequels. And Halloween is nice and convenient since it can just go in the same slot alphabetically for now.

I'm not actually going to stab all Godzilla movies though. I owed Munkus one for stabbing Colossal (even if I did stab a Godzilla to put it on there) and 3clips3 stabbed Cuckoo's Nest for some reason.

Yeah there are 36 I think. I figured to keep it at 1 Godzilla movie. On the flip side 1 Jackie Chan movie is hanging out there. Because he has 130 movies I could attrition out.

Here’s the guys, you just sitting on a franchise, isn’t very cool. It’s in the rules sure, but if all you are going to do is thread sit and immediately shot down other peoples contribution, sure you’ll win, but that’s probably because everyone is going to nope out of this thread because they’re bored. You are better off making a top ten of a franchise list rather than try and shove in your one particular thing.
Also if you are pointing out there are 134 Jackie Chan movies, somehow I don’t think they would all be in the top 50 movies of all time.

Buddy there are over 45 Godzilla movies, more if you count Gojira and Godzilla (1954) as different movies.

And that isn't even close to enough to matter if I really wanted to go back and forth with horror sequels. Not even remotely close. But that would be pretty damn tedious.
I popped a mediocre Godzilla film for a good kaiju movie that's actually worth discussing. And it got spite booted for another mediocre Godzilla film. C'est la vie.

I'm personally fine with basically any substitution from the list as long as that poster is adding a movie they legitimately love & believe should be on it.
That was my attitude for the video game thread as well.
It seems very boring if the game is making a top 50 movie list and people aren't even pretending to think their submissions are actual top 50s.

The inherent problem seen in the games thread is that 100 pages is a lot, and putting your absolute favorites in early is a recipe for ensuring that they won't make the final cut.
So mix in some fun and controversy. Otherwise you might take this seriously, and that's a recipe for disaster.
