Yeah, but Wiseman is saying it's been on D+ in Canada for quite a while now.

    So neener neener.

Isn’t this because the US has Hulu, and everywhere else just has D+?

  • Local H JayLocal H Jay Registered User regular
Nah D+ is in the US, but a lot of the Fox stuff is tied up in previous deals made before the buyout

I think he is referring to the Disney+ special package or whatever it is called. Basically it is Hulu for areas not in the US with most of the same content. Stars or something I think? It is why Deadpool was available internationally on Disney+ sooner than the US.

Edit: Found it. It is called Star. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_(Disney+)

why does Venom have no neck?

  • SatanIsMyMotorSatanIsMyMotor Fuck Warren Ellis Registered User regular
He gave his extra neck to Spidey.

The "abs" on both of them are also impressive in a "I don't know, just throw some ink on there" kind of way.

  • DanHibikiDanHibiki Registered User regular
yeah, from the chest down it just looks like he's wearing a snuggy. Also Venom has elephant feet?

For a Liefeld cover, that's pretty good. Without that qualifier, it's pretty bad.

Warning: Goblin serum may result in super-strength, madness, and extra teeth.

And this Spidey outfit has wedge heels, apparently.

Leifeld has a gift at making covers that look neat if you glance at them for a second but if you look any longer you start to notice the things. Like the hoof feet or the fact that spiderman has no collarbones or that Vulture's eyes are askew.

    Mysterio looks ok...

yeah the thing that struck me about it is that it's so... restrained.

Did he get someone of Fiver to draw feet for him? Actually, probably not, because they would have actually given a shit.

  • see317see317 Registered User regular
I kind of like the elephant feet/no neck Venom look.
It's what I'd imagine if someone said "This dude is wearing a power armor muscle suit made out of sentient alien goo". Erasing most human proportions and features for more muscles and teeth.

To be fair, we don't see costumes for Goblin, Octopus or Vulture. I bet they're all pouched up.

I don't think Liefeld is really a great choice for a cover artist (in that I think his strengths lie elsewhere), but that's whatever, it's fine, there's plenty of much worse comic book art out there

It does seem incredibly focused on Spider-Man's junk though

I had a boss named.youngblood who was super into comics and I photoshopped his face over all the people in Youngblood for his birthday

I remember my mom bought me like, some Harbinger and Youngblood comics when I was a kid, and when my mom found out it was like, cusses and violence and scantily clad bizarrely proportioned ladies, she apologized to me and I was like "uh, this rules actually."

Harbinger is still one of my favorite words

I would give him some leeway but the guy is just so proud of how slapdash he is with his work, like it's a pretty safe bet that he drew your favorite Liefeld comic while taking a shit.

The idea that he tries to pass off obvious laziness as a style actually offends me as someone who has put in the work.

I'm never sure if the appropriate response to "Robert Liefeld is a wealthy, famous comic book artist" should be "I can do anything" or "I'll never have the chance to do anything because people in charge give opportunities to people like Robert Liefeld".

He was right place, right time really. You can see why marvel kinda tanked in the 90s but I am weirdly nostalgic for that weird ass style? Like as much as Todd McFarlane is a tool I think spawn is legit a cool character design, even if the writing is edgelord as hell. But that movie... The movie is such a fever dream. I'd love a modern Spawn movie where the whole thing feels like it's beyond any control. Like, I'm imagining Event Horizon but Sam Neil is the hero of the movie
