The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The current plan is to attempt to start the Holiday Forums on December 23rd sometime during the day. During this time, the Future State Planning Center will remain open. The Holiday Forum merge will last (if Vanilla cooperates) until January 3rd.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Story Part 2 : Homecoming and Melchiah
    nad7wm00fls3.png
    Raziel wrote:
Though much of Nosgoth’s landscape had changed, these cliffs gave me my bearings. My clan territory was to the west – I was anxious to see how my descendants had fared during the centuries of my absence.

Leaving the deafening crash of the water falls behind him, Raziel enters into his once-proud domain. He is greeted by deafening silence. The perpetrators he already knows, as vampire traitors would have suffered the same fate as he. Moving further into the territory, Raziel encounters a human and a new form of degenerate vampire.

Exploring further reveals the identity of this new foe: the territory of Melchiah and his brood, the last raised and weakest of Kain’s lieutenants. The curse of vampirism barely sustained Melchiah’s own flesh and such weakness was passed down to his offspring that they should resembled little more than ghouls.
    wcowbk64rsny.png

Descending further into Melchiah’s domain, Raziel use of the Spectral realm causes him to encounter a new foe: a vampiric wraith. Vampires that are slain but have their souls successfully escape into the spectral realm will be little more than a lost soul for a time, but eventually their natures would adapt turning them into the robed specters found here, feasting upon souls. In this form, if they were able to open a wound on Raziel, they could retreat to safety and begin to drain his soul essence, which could force Raziel back to the Abyss. Worse yet, should their physical form have its lethal means removed (such as removing an impaling stake or dragged out of water) the wraith could reinhabit their mortal shell bringing with them their deadly knowledge from the spectral realm.
    bw2zwn6dr17c.png

Reaching the depths of the charnel house, Raziel finds a huge grinder, used to pulp human remains leaving only skin and blood to be used by the vampiric inhabitants. Out of the darkness a rumbling growly echoes: Melchiah.
    9rvycmi5faau.png

The ghoulish abomination trade barbs with Raziel, revealing little but riddles for the vampiric wraith to decipher. While Raziel may have his demeanor from his unlife, his little brother now holds the greater strength stating “You are the last to die!” Melchiah lurches towards Raziel.

A hulking form, Raziel is unable to wound the massive wrack of flesh and bone and retreats to side rooms that are sealed with great impaling spikes. But lo, Melchiah can phase through these obstacles, continuing the pursuit of his diminutive kin. With quick thinking, Raziel finds the lever to lower these barriers, allowing him to lure the monster into entering and injuring the beast. After a couple of attempts, the contraption controlling the great grinder becomes unlocked and with the last energy of his maddened pursuit, Melchiah enters the grinding room. Engaging the device, Raziel has but one question for the beast: where can he find Kain. But the beast is unwilling to state saying that Kain goes where he sees fit. And with that the great grinder does its bloody work, turning the elder vampire into little more than red paste—and a great glowing soul.

Consuming the soul, Raziel is congratulated by his accomplishment though the latter takes no pleasure in it. Perhaps some remnant of Raziel’s loyalty to his brothers or that Melchiah had no direct hand in his execution made Raziel’s victory feel empty. Even so, he has gained the ability to shift through thin barriers and grates but only in the spectral realm.

While leaving Melchiah’s domain, the Eldar God informs Raziel to return to the Sanctuary of the Clans as he now has the means via Melchiah’s gift to do so—but something lingers there.

    End Soul Reaver Part 2

So whats the new thing with nividia grafix

It requires 12 PCI Turbo Express slots and reintroduces the idea of IRQ conflicts and costs eleventy thousand dollars and has to be RMAed at least once before it will work.

And you have to set the IRQ manually via jumpers.

Config.sys and Autoexe.bat got me covered.

While being zapped periodically with a new type of static electricity Nvidia developed that can travel through rubber/insulation and you can't protect yourself by grounding every 5 seconds until you get it configured correctly.

This would actually help with jumpers. "Is that right? Part of the sticker is heat damaged I can't tell." "Well is it still shocking you? If it's shocking you it's wrong."

Edit: I knew a guy who had special clothes he wore for whenever he opened a computer up - no synthetic fibers, pure high thread count some expensive bullshit. Custom made antistatic wrist band with a Fluke lead (Fluke:electrical testers::Monster:HDMI cables) and even specific shoes he only wore for that with some kind of special sole. I would ground myself on the heatsink if he was watching just to annoy him. Only backfired once.

He spent so much money on specialized clothing when the answer was right in front of him the whole time: get naked.

While the comic was a joke, I didn't find any fault with that logic the next time I built a PC and couldn't find my static band.

The Yakuza stuff made me think maybe I should finally give these games a try, but I'm also trying not to buy games because something something backlog.

Today I was scrolling through my steam games and what the fuck when did I buy Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami?

Guess I've got my next games once I finish the games in progress.

Eesh, this Spiderman code is proving obstinate. Tried giving it to someone with a 3060 and apparently they were denied. So it's very likely the code won't work unless the recipient has a 3080, since that's what I got. Maybe above would work too, I don't know.

So, if you have a 3080 or above and want to try your luck at the Spiderman code let me know via PM

It may seem that way as a new player, but the game is much more focused on evasion compared to Overwatch. You're generally not really going to have Orisas and Reins to hide behind in this game and you're not really supposed to facetank sustained focus fire even on Sazabi, so you're going to want to get acquainted with abusing your dashes/mitigation/mobility(as applicable), and your survivability will go way way up.

I think that was likely a deliberate choice to differentiate/not step on the toes of Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2, which is much more focused on mech customization and slower squad gameplay than speedy hero shooter.

I'd completely forgotten about that. Looking forward to it.

It turns out there are some customisation options - paint schemes, charms, and pilot voices mainly. Which is great, when you aren't locked out of the unit you want.

Playing some more, and my biggest issue with the game is... why? I'm adoring seeing mobile suits in HD on a PC (I really hate the SD stuff), but I'm really not seeing why they went with a (blatant) OW clone of all things for it. Feels great to see childhood favourite suits, until someone else grabs it and you're stuck with something you dislike the playstyle of.
