Excited to go back to 2009 and my first ever Kamen Rider series as we begin Decade tonight on AniMenagerie S. Cutie Honey was actually older, but it's going to be a stark comparison between Decade and Geats.

Mine was Kamen Rider Zo, entirely thanks to the Sega CD game and the Saban adaptation.
Nice to see it in a pose like that, shows that they're keeping it going after last year's Donbrothers mecha.
I still love that it took one designer’s kid finally telling him “My toy can’t do the poses in the show” for them to realize they were just making bricks.
One interesting bit there too, it doesn’t seem some of the extra units are necessarily functional to the combation; the spiders, the ant, the ladybugs seem instead to be decorative armor pieces; I wonder if that’s only to help break up a design that might be fairly plain given the need to balance the combination gimmick with functional posability, or if it’s intended to be able to eventually swap out different insects for different kinds of armor styles/accessories?

I’m a bit more than halfway through watching Kuuga for the first time and it’s fantastic
and also fucking brutal, so many random civilians die in awful ways holy shit
but the characters are great, it feels very earnest, they reflect on some pretty deep life questions, there’s actual bikes, it’s very comfy overall. I actually love how lowkey the fights are, just a couple people in suits mostly punching and throwing each other around. No belt talking for 3 minutes before some elaborate CG kick attack (not that I don’t love those as well)
I felt the same. Despite the huge body count, Kuuga felt pretty chill in a good way. The police procedural feel helps with that too. Add the ending theme, and Kuuga is perfect for watching an episode or two before bed.

So word of warning with the Kuuga manga releases: folks who’ve been picking them up are finding the translation quality is really shoddy and stilted, which seems likely that Titan may be using machine translation for the actual releases, which don’t match the previews that they had been releasing via twitter and to press sites prior to going on sale. Titan also now seems to be going around and deleting tweets that featured the better translations.
I like that the fake henshin tweet is just Toquger/Den-Oh. You can't even make up something that they haven't already done and taken completely seriously.

Just finished watching Kuuga and it was fantastic
I got some dust in my eye right as someone was chopping onions though and it really made it hard to watch the last couple episodes

That's a lot of bullshit excuses that don't admit to fault in any way and doesn't make anyone feel like they should waste any money on these releases when they obviously didn't want to spend any money on a translator, much less an editor, to make the pages read better than raw Google Translate.
My guess is they used actual translators at OVNI, as they say with the preview pages, then when time came to do the whole thing, whoops into the machine it went because they’re not paying those wages for a full English translation (on top of, presumably, the Spanish translation work for the Argentinian release)
We’ll see if they actually do issue updated versions of the first two volumes (and, presumably, any delays on volumes three and four)
New Rider coming into Kamen Rider Geats next week.
Kamen Rider Gazer, which seeing as it's a Glare repaint it's likely it's the current Game Master under the mask.
Feel like this palette works way better than the previous one did for the suit. It pops way more
The circuit style detailing very much helps it pop, and smoothes out the transition between different parts of the silhouette. Glare was all bold blocks of color, this has just that extra little bit of texture to help sell it

About 3 episodes into Kuuga, and this protagonist is the most lovable dork I've ever seen.

Yeah, Godai is wonderful. Just earnest and good-natured and surprisingly real sometimes.
Having finally watched Kuuga, I feel like Eiji (OOO) took some inspiration from Godai

Come to think of it, Godai's "partner" was Ichijo, a detective, and Eiji's "partner" was Ankh who possessed a detective, but that's probably more a coincidence since the police often make appearances in these shows
But more importantly, the monsters and the belts for both are ancient, buried away for hundreds of years until a seal was broken
It's also funny how often Riders work at restaurants/cafes

That's right, even bootleggers don't carry Kamen Rider ZO.

KAMEN RIDER BLACK… RX!!
I'd totally watch a Kamen Rider Pharmacist show though.

Ex-Aid wasn't that long ago.
...has the Game Master assuming the role of Kamen Rider Glare, the suit itself retouched a bit. Guess the Glare identity is reserved for Game Masters.
