We come to this thread for magic. We come to forums to laugh, to cry, to care, because we need that–all of us.

That indescribable feeling we get when the page begins to load, and we read something we’ve never seen before.

Not just entertained but somehow reborn together.

Dazzling opinions on a huge digital screen. Criticisms that I can feel.

Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a thread like this.

Our hot-takes feel like the best part of us.

And posts feel perfect and powerful.

Because here…they are.

I've never seen the Nicole Kidman ad because every theater that's been local to me since it launched has been Regal or Cinemark

  • DJ EebsDJ Eebs Moderator, Administrator admin
At Regal you just get a student film about popcorn or something

I'll be going to see Jaws in (fake) IMAX tomorrow. Then trying to see if I can single swing a Maverick screening this week. Dunno how yet, as the second run showings are at 1245pm, a time when I am very much at work.

Yeah the only theater I've gone to since the pandemic started is a local one that has none of that stuff

I got like, the George Miller thanks for seeing my movie sort of thing, but that's it

Still haven't gotten round to stepping inside a theater. The one I would have gone to was demolished a while back.

My last in-house movie was Jojo Rabbit

My philosophy on IMAX is the same as my fathers on breasts: If I can see it, it's real to me.

If a movie can really make me cry it will forever be a favorite

    Examples:

    Green Mile
    Untamed Heart
    My Girl
    Eternal Sunshine
    Spring
    The Iron Giant
    Big Fish
    Real Steel (yes, for real)
    Grave of the Fireflies

    And many more

Can't even remember which part specifically did it for me.

Yes, that is her normal accent. It's just regular urban Australian.

During a conversation with my best friend we started discussing Elvis.

He hasn't seen it but asked if Tom Hanks does indeed give a Goblin King style performance.

And I had to describe to him the Faustian fiend that Hanks embodies in the movie.

I think you may have just sold and then unsold me on watching it in the span of four posts

at any rate I have long dropped in to the movie thread to add to my hoard of "movies to watch someday" list that's on Letterboxd, and then finally watched things years and years later only to remember that I got the recommendation from here but it's weird to come back and say that I liked it, and anyway I've got ADHD so I cannot remember what I watched recently and thought "oh, I got that recommendation from the PA forums" though I do definitely remember watching The Innkeepers and knowing I got that from here

anyway I've been on a movie watching kick lately, I really enjoyed You Are Not My Mother and Prey, and I aesthetically enjoyed The Love Witch but plot-wise and TERF-wise and pacing-wise, it was a pretty big miss

Yeah I tend to watch stuff months after I hear about it on here and when I show up to say good things (or heaven forbid bad things) then everyone is just like, "yup".

Haha I'm just kidding, no one actually responds.

Is Hanks' accent in Elvis more or less than in The Ladykillers?

there's a lot of behind the scenes drama apparently for Don't Worry Darling and I guess the latest twist is that Harry Styles has apparently spit on Chris Pine at a film festival?

  • asofyeunasofyeun Registered User regular
why would someone spit on Chris Pine, he seems like a decent enough dude for an actor

I gotta think on this one...

    This here is a riddle.

Here's what's going on with Don't Worry Darling as far as anyone can tell. A lot of this I've learned against my will!

Florence Pugh won't promote the movie. There are rumors she's in a feud with the director, Olivia Wilde, mainly over how the movie is being promoted. Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are dating, apparently having met on the set of the movie? Jason Sudeikis served her custody papers over their children and they were delivered while she was on stage promoting the film. Olivia Wilde claims that she fired Shia Labeouf because she wanted a safe filming environment, Shia Labeouf claims he quit and that she's a liar. In the background, people online who are convinced that Harry Styles is in love with Liam from One Direction are furious at Olivia Wilde's existence, rendering many of these facts very unreliable.

The film is premiering at a film festival. Pugh showed up to walk the red carpet, watch the movie, and bounce back to film more Dune. Harry Styles gave a long rambling interview about how he likes the movie because it feels like a movie while Chris Pine dissociated. They sit Chris Pine in between Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles at the movie. Harry Styles appears to spit on Chris Pine as he sits down. After the movie, Harry Styles stands up and kisses Nick Kroll.

I don't know if any of that explains why Harry Styles would spit on Chris Pine
