Oh I'm a little late to posting this but there's an invitational tournament that's been releasing VODs for about a week. Pretty good games, well casted overall.
I really feel sorry for Move decks. Especially after I beat one that even had K'un-Lun pop as a location with my tossed-together Cer3bro deck. They really can't ever move to the right, can they?

You can Cloak your way to the right on turn 4 or 5 with good play, and Dr Strange rightward as well. It’s all going left eventually though.
Made it to infinite before the patch and whatever meta shakeup attempts to unroot thanos.
Final 4 cubes came from a kang-galactus deck just out there donating cubes
I'm not convinced the matchmaking changes will make it easier to get into infinite - for every sweaty infinite player I played against - you got someone donating cubes like this just showing off the money they've spent on the game or someone trying to make move decks work.
Obligatory you made infinite - here are your leech boosters you degenerate screenshot
Most of 70-95 was thanos - though I think I played more of the killmonger-deathwave version of thanos then the standard list.
The standard list is very consistent - but everyone knows what the deck is doing and capable of - and like it has been said previously when facing it - most ppl are just trying to give thanos decks only 1-2 cubes. Any snap with the slightest edge or favorable location and folks bounce. So to try cubes I'd be snapping before dropping lockjaw and stones to hook ppl - but the problem with casino decks is even when favored you can just pull junk.
killmonger/death thanos is more likely to brick - but you had a better change of catching ppl off guard because the thanos list is so standardized at this point
Played a little bit of darkhawk sera from 95-97 after pulling darkhawk from a cache - it's a strong deck, stopped during the pegasus hot location since sera decks are pretty efficient at filling the board as is.
Now I get to play hot trash the rest of the month - it's great

I've just been tapping the avatar to check deck sizes, so I don't know how many people snapping before dropping lockjaw and stones is going to hook.
I meant your options for snapping are after you drop lockjaw - and you get to see you got a good roll - in which case they usually leave when you snap - or you can snap right before dropping lockjaw and stones - which felt pretty random on outcome - regardless of if they stayed or not.
So while it is a very oppressive deck - it was rare to get a big cube win

Would have thought you need Mind Stone as well, to guarantee good things come out.
And I just got knocked back 8 cubes by a rank 100 player on a forced Zola 50/50.
I might eventually get 80, maybe.

Seems to be good at just dropping too much power for Thanos to handle.
Reddit was totally gleeful all day today assuming it was balance patch tonight/tomorrow, but I don't think that's really this week is it? Seems like we'd have patch notes, leaked or otherwise, if that were the case.
I wouldn't be surprised if they let this season finish before balance patching, especially as it has all those ranked mode changes.

The current thought is the balance patch drops on Tuesday sometime. There's no way in hell they let this meta continue for longer than this week.

We've only had one leaked patch notes and it was because that patch was last minute delayed. The ranked system changes are all mostly for next season, or later.
Patch is most likely sometime today (I am saying today at 9:21 AM US Eastern time. Your today may vary based on location.)
Yeah, I'm not 100% sold on these changes. Definitely nerfs to the strongest decks, but I don't know if they'll be enough.
Getting to Shang Chi a Red Skull to deny a Taskmaster is great, but that's assuming you have priority. She Hulk -> Taskmaster often doesn't have priority since they skip turn 5, allowing for 18 power twice. That will probably be the safer evolution of Shuri decks.
Lockjaw not getting changed still allows for degenerate Thanos decks to thrive. They're definitely slower from the Quinjet nerf, but Leech can still come down on 4 if you played the Time Stone play prior. The Space Stone change is great and just what was needed.
Still though, Lockjaw is the problem here. A much bigger deal than Thanos or Leech.
But who knows? Maybe it's enough? Not holding my breath though.

Honestly the Aero nerf almost makes Shuri more powerful all on its own; She-Hulk Taskmaster is now a safer line and in general you can get your T5 Tasky played safely with Titania backup. You might lose more shootouts but you can easily make Aero a non-factor now.
Also Red Skull is just fairly overstatted now in the base case, not that a big dumb 5 drop is enough on its own but you can just cleanly throw him in most decks if you want.
30 power to 26 power (0 opponents)
28 power to 25 power (1 opponents)
26 power to 24 power (2 opponents)
24 power to 23 power (3 opponents)
22 power to 22 power (4 opponents) ???
So the taskmaster follow up won't be as strong and suspect to shang if you manage to be behind priority after dropping 20+ power - but less worry about aero?
Really feels like if you thought shuri was preventing you from winning games there is no change
Yeah but any weaker and he's just a shitty hulk for one less cost and meh, I think I'm mostly positive on these changes especially the Aero one thank god

I mean, 5 vs. 6 is a huge distinction, he shouldn't be putting out Hulk Stats.
Saw it brought up on twitter - but the quinjet change hurts a bunch of mediocre decks that might have used collector or moongirl/hood - just because they couldn't figure out how to just code the stones as starting in the thanos deck for the purpose of quinjet

Reducing cost to 0 is a big problem and they explicitly note that space is not one they want to exist and call those decks out in particular. Assuming dev incompetence instead of the clear intent they stated is kinda dumb, but what else to expect from the community that insists you can hack your way to victory with one weird MMR manipulation trick

Considering how easy it is to lower cost, I don't see that big a difference in most games
Skull is basically a -4 to his 13 so if you're playing smart you have to assume he's basically 9 power wherever you place him and pray they don't stack the lane with some bullshit

Hmmm... Galactus popped up in the shop for me. I'm still 2k tokens short of him... I don't know if I really want Galactus, though... I feel like I'd rather skip him and wait for Wong, which is the last card I can really feel myself lacking. Is that silly? How often to pool 5's show up in the shop?

Thanos isn't really a casino. Or I guess it is in the sense that the house always win.
If it was actually random, it wouldn't be very good. That tells you that when you gamble you're very very likely to come out ahead.
Wins seem to really rely on "have Lockjaw, and then have Good Things Come Out, Not Just More Stones", and that never seems to go well for me.

Key is to play space stone last, so you can move lockjaw next turn and do it all over again.

Patch here - they really don't want to fix a bunch of issues with these cards - so enjoy getting leeched
Thanos 6/11 -> 6/10
Space stone moves to location - not away from location (as suggested here earlier)
Quinjet can't reduce below 1
Thanos nerfs done
I see no problems here peasants
Red Skull 5/15 +2 ongoing to enemy -> 5/13 +1 ongoing to enemy
(Red skull buff - Shuri nerf?)
She Hulk 6/10 -> 6/9
Aero 5/7 -> 5/8 - only pulls last played card
Still counters Galactus - so you kinda still need it - but going to interesting if still as prevalent or what 5s take it's place
Mystique, Absorbing man, taskmaster all need the target to still be in play to work - so Shuri nerf
Blah, just blah - just do a real balance rework - adjust leech
They added in a bunch of UI effects for playing out the Thanos stones - deck going nowhere - so shiny
Nice.
