Watching the Rangers completely shit themselves all last month, then maybe sort of pull it together, then get swept by the Astros and everyone writes them off again, only to then sweep the M's and take a 2 game lead in the West?
Cubs easily have the toughest schedule by record, but the Brewers magic number is 1 and Atlanta's top three pitchers are missing the Cubs series. Now, they're likely going to score 45 runs anyways because they don't believe in resting starters, but
Atlanta is a rough matchup for any pitcher, is the thing. I think Steele also got a bit unlucky in his last start, he was mostly in control until they hit like, eight singles in a row off of him, none of them exactly scalded. That's sort of the danger of being a pitcher that largely pitches to contact, however (Hendricks is...in danger). Honestly, the rotation has been doing their best, really. A couple call ups (Assad and Wicks have been well beyond what you could have hoped for), Hendricks has been pretty steady, and Taillon even turned in a rare solid start the other day. Their real problem is that none of them have been going especially deep into games, so the bullpen that has like, three or four key injuries, is running on fumes and dreams
Justin Steele had a string of six straight Ks against Atlanta, against the top of the lineup, too, so he seems like he's finding his groove again. Probably helps that the Cubs have scored 5
Very annoying loss by the Cubs. Atlanta is the kind of team where a 6-0 lead never feels safe, but they definitely made some really dumb mistakes trying to add on that ultimately cost them
I can talk myself around to thinking the Cubs have a shot at getting into the postseason but even then the math on that is likely, "to get into the NLDS the Cubs would likely have to beat the Brewers in Milwaukee five times out of the next six games."
Well, the Brewers are resting Brandon Woodruff and Freddy Peralta in the final series against the Cubs so that's going to drastically improve their chances of getting into the postseason.
Beating Milwaukee's best starters on extra rest after that though...
Even in the scenario where the Cubs sweep the Brewers, they need like...either the Diamondbacks to get swept by Houston (very possible!) or the Marlins to lose two of their remaining four games, and Miami is already up 2-1 in the 9th inning in one of those. They just...don't have any tiebreakers on any of the teams they need to have tiebreakers on (and if they did, they uh...wouldn't need them right now, probably)

God it would be so funny for the Mets to come back and win that
If they don’t resume, they revert to the score as of the completion of the last full inning, Mets win 1-0 lol
Curt Schilling went from being a local god to the most hated person in Boston. I would rather live with 'the curse' if it meant that vile heap of shit never wore a Red Sox uniform.
I cannot hate on Baltimore winning the division over the Yankees. That’s a young, extremely fun team that hasn’t been good in awhile
I mean fuck the Yankees and sports media is blarong about their worst season in a long while but like they've one the Al east once in the last decade (twice I guess I wasn't looking at WS since this isn't soccer playoffs happen)
It's the hilarious collapse of Boston and Yankees and the O's surpassing the Rays while the Blue Jays refuse to live to their potential and have to deal with the AL west every fucking year
This was the best Yankees collapse every though loved each second
And...the Cubs are done. Couldn't get more than one run across on a thirty year old reliever without a picture on the MLB app making his big league debut in a game the Brewers actively didn't care about winning.
I think they have to let David Ross go, at this point. Not all of this is his fault, but between the bad lineups, inexplicable substitutions and his inability to say anything any of the numerous times they've been screwed by bad umpiring...he's clearly not good enough at this

Feels weird!
It's a weird division!
It’s hard for the West teams to pull away since they keep trading sweeps of each other
My brain would've torn itself in two trying to field a grounder and conduct an interview at the same time.
there's just no way you can be as bad as he is so regularly.
fined for being right made me laugh
O Captain, My Captain
also Chapman blew that game and you love to see it
