full idea: solution 9 are survivors from another shard that were saved/given some sort of twisted amnesty because the ascian in charge of engineering that calamity was uplifted from someone FROM that shard and didn't want to see it fully lost. thats why there is an asican-y glyph in the 8 man raid art
like "i gotta rejoin my home shard but im a softie so ill set up an arrangement where if they just stick to themselves over on this corner of the source they can chill in peace and maintain their culture"
or "these evil space wizards are going to destroy my world and want me to help. they'll kill me if i refuse to help and just get another guy, so instead i'll try to save what i can"
coinflip whether the guy in question is still around. but it would get us the flipside of fandaniels coin of "dude who was uplifted to an ascian seat but doesn't actually give a fuck"
people joked about us finding a random fisherman two expansions from now who is revealed to be a lapsed sundered ascian who doesn't want trouble, i say this will be that
plus: a preserved culture from a shard could easily be more advanced then whats on the source b/c they weren't getting calamity'd constantly
i'm what they call "a genious"
there was something in the background of the Tower Of RTX 4080s art that looked suspiciously ascian glyph like but it could just be a random sigil too
it looks a lot like the altima glyph. also even if it isn't a 1:1 match, they aren't gonna draw "ominous intricate floating red glyph" without knowing that they are drawing a very obvious parallel

here's a similar idea a friend of mine had
survivors from another shard who sent themselves to the source the same way graha and the ironworks sent the crystal tower to the first. Same reasoning of they could have been much more advanced on another shard because no calamities and time flows differently and different history and such.
And if the name is indeed a reference to Zidane as it sounds, it could be hinting at the themes of the relationship of the worlds of Terra and Gaia in FF9.
Also I just realized Viper is using a Zidane moveset isn't it

i think its very possible. i'm stuck on there being some sort of like, sympathetic sundered ascian who helped them out though. because they didn't put the symbol of an ascian that we haven't seen before in the raid art on ACCIDENT
i don't think its possible that it isn't ascian related b/c nothing in the game was put there on accident. they know what that looks like and they knew it when they were making the art and putting it in the keynote
Female Hrothgar might finally convince my partner to play this damned game with me. She gave up after ARR and Binding Coils, mostly because she felt like her character had no intrinsic motivation to do anything and she doesn't jive well with JRPGs because you don't have influence on the story. She's a massive dweeb for Baldur's Gate 3 and SWTOR and has made many characters exclusively to explore different story paths. BUUUUT half her characters are buff tall women who will steal both your girlfriends and your boyfriends.
There is a congratulatory bouquet on display at the fanfest from a producer on PSO2, and 14 had a crossover promotional event in PSO2 back in the ARR days. Maybe they'll do a PSO2 event in 14 ala monster hunter and fall guys now lol.
