Charles Berthoud is and incredible player. There's plenty of people on like reddit and shit that say dumb things like, "it's impressive, but can he hold down a groove?" Of fucking course he can. But the crazy stuff is what pays the bills here.

Oh hey, this came up in my youtube recommendations. I had totally forgotten about it, but it still rules. We Are The Union did a cover of "Sound System" with that guy from Twitter.

I missed when the thread got made but uh, new Knocked Loose. It big heavy.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO8q_Q4lRC8

Also my concerts for the next three months:
Erra and Make Them Suffer (Playing at the TLA which sucks, but I splurged for overlooking seats so should be fun)
Sleep Token (I got great seats after sitting in queue and spamming refresh for like 20 minutes, even retail was expensive)
Knocked Loose and Loathe (Electric Factory show which I am honestly very worried for our safety lol, we'll be behind a barrier at the bar.)

    Can't wait.

    Happy Bandcamp Friday!

    How about some suggestions?

Mannequin Pussy's new album is great:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvgYIXc4JDA

And Oceanator released a single last year co-written and featuring Greg Katz of Cheekface. It's a good as the pedigree would imply:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FJkfnmljf4

And Chris Farren's most recent record is always a great pick. Here's an acoustic version of "Bluish" to put you in the mood:

Ooooh, Archspire is starting their next tour soon and they'll be coming to Dallas in June! I might try and get tickets, though nobody I know likes anything close to technical death metal and I don't wanna go by myself (it's like an hour and a half away, and city drivers are fucking insane). Oh well, maybe I can bribe someone to put up with some screaming for a hour or two (or however long a concert lasts, it's been a long time).

Mannequin Pussy is a band I always get confused with another band (not sure who, maybe PWR BTTM) who was accused of some gross stuff and I've never listened to them as a result

Funnily enough, I used to always confuse them (MP) with Weakened Friends. Who are also great, mind you! (And have a great album out on Don Giovanni Records from a couple years ago now)

deftones from back in 98 on Conans old show. No, the older one then that I mean.

    What this video has:

    - Skinny Chino
    - Alive Chi
    - Chino trying and failing to sing properly live, something that he was not accustomed to at the time as most of his vocals sounded like a horse being electrocuted prior to this (He eventually gets the knack, but the struggle is real here)
    - The rest of the band just playing as hard as they can and desperately avoiding eye contact with the cameras on a small stage

Also! A couple old friends (and former bandmates) have a new band and they just released a video for their first single. Give it a listen if you’re into melodic punk rock, Jawbreaker, Dillinger 4, Face to Face, etc.

As a drummer, I still haven't been able to fully compute his one-handed cover of Disasterpiece, where he is able to crescendo 16th note triplets during a gravity blast:

There was a performance of the Squirrel Nut Zippers Hell that I heard about where they appeared on Letterman and Paul Schaffer played the piano solo in the middle. I've never been able to find a recording of it though.

I think what makes me like his new song so much is how he's NOT showing off. He plays exactly what the song needs. It's honestly impressive.

I saw them at a small Atlanta venue last year, a sit and eat place, and it's honestly one of the best shows I've seen. The multi-instrumentalist they have that plays everything from the mandolin to the saw to the mouth harp is amazing.

When I’m stoned I love listening to live music.

I hate when a band changes up a song, you get a few quiet claps, then it hits a familiar part 20 seconds in and THEN everyone has to burst into applause.

A couple years ago Winona Fighter released a pretty solid debut EP, Father Figure. I kind of made a mental note to keep an eye on them because they seemed like they probably had a great record in them.

And then today this single from their upcoming album dropped and it's a huge leap forward for them.

I like listening to Lifter Puller or early Hold Steady shows because Craig will be all drunk and forget a line, but that's okay because the entire audience has been singing along with him, so they don't lose the pace.

I like shit like this. I just hate when the song is going and everyone has to applaud and completely drown out the band because they didn’t realize what song it was until too late
