I rewatched (again) FMA:Brotherhood a few agos and damn if it isn't still a really good show.
There's probably anime that have higher highs, but it's so consistent throughout. Rarely a bad moment.
For me, it is a platonic ideal of an adventure story. Plot makes sense from beginning to end, there are no real plot holes or asspulls, characters are easy to like, antagonists are easy to hate, what more can one want?
And every decision made (good or bad) is logically consistent for the character making them. That's really fucking hard to do!
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

They uploaded the first 11 minutes of the remastered Vampire Hunter Bloodlust to youtube and it looks so damn clean, it also sounds like they improved the audio mix too. There's also an actual trailer they released too because it's getting a theatrical run in Japan.

Finished watching all of Kimagure Orange Road; the show, the OVA series, and the movie.
This is outright better than 95% of anime romance, and a lot of it comes down to having plots that don't involve trying to get into someone's pants, having an actual family around, and having some emotional maturity. It's still a love triangle between an indecisive guy and two girls, and it's anime, and it's from the 80s, so it does get uncomfortable in spots, but it holds up quite well.
That ending movie, though.... Like, not to be all "polyamory could have saved them", but after dozens of episodes about how the boy doesn't want to break up with either girl, the movie is about that breakup, and about how much it sucks to break up with someone you like and enjoy spending time with, and about how it damages not just the relationship, but also the friendship, and about how this directly hurts someone you care for. Which is certainly a much more mature theme than you'd expect from a movie that finally gets the main couple together, but also, oof.

It was never going to work out, and Kyosuke knew it. Something had to give, and it's one of the few(only?) endings where the protagonist steps up and makes the hard decision.
And yeah, the movie is the most visceral, brutal depiction of heartbreak I've ever seen. It's amazing that it came from the same team that made such a lackadaisical TV series.
I think the big thing with that breakup is that yeah he didn't want to break up with her, but he also didn't really want to BE with her. He just didn't want to hurt her feelings by breaking up. Especially with it probably messing up the girls' friendship, as well.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

It technically wasn't even a breakup, since they were never together, it was just him putting his foot down and saying 'look, this isn't going to happen, please accept it'. And sadly, she couldn't.
I'm not sure if this was posted yet, but I noticed that Frieren is on Netflix now. They even posted the whole season instead of doing an episode a week like Delicious in Dungeon, Dandadan, and the Ranma remake. Most of you probably already saw it, but this will be my first time. I'm two episodes in, and I already got a few sniffles from it.
You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

They didn't do week by week because Crunchyroll did that with the JP release. This is a secondary release, which is great for more people to get to see it.

I watch anime on Kodokawa so I was kind of confused that Frieren was on netflix now
We're wrapping up Season 9 of AniMenagerie on Monday nights over the next month or two, which means it's time to announce Season 10! The theme this time? Well, it seems like no matter what the scheduling council decides, the people have Problems with it! So, this time we left things entirely in their hands! Besides selecting one anchor show for each block, requiring one block to only contain other video game adaptation anime, and actually putting everything in order, we just set back and let everyone else do the work this time. Shows, block names, everything! And then we let democracy handle the rest!
In other words, Season 10 is all your fault!!!
This will probably be our final announcement on these forums, so either PM me here while you can, or contact me through Discord (@radsuit) to see about an invite to the AniMenagerie Discord server!

Hopefully it'll get one here if they have any sense.
