The thing I hate most about G4 is that retarded and distracting live feedback thing at the bottom of some of the shows which is full of retarded 14 yr old responses to questions. usually any question is answered with them trying to be funny with "Chuck Norris!" or other stupid internet crap.
Also X-Play really tries too hard with their humor. and that Adam Sessler guy always looks like he still has the hanger in his shirt.
To be fair, TechTV had it's share of shitty TV shows too. It just had a good, solid block of programming with The Screen Savers and to a lesser extent, call for help.
Current G4 TV is OK. I don't find it any better or worse than TechTV, although I would like to see TSS return. I tend not to watch X-Play (I didn't watch it on TechTV either) because I generally don't agree with their reviews and I find the humor to be stupid. Just review the damn game, don't make jokes...
I do like the fact that G4 has Arrested Development and Ninja Warrior...

That's _every_ channel though. How many channels have more than 2 or 3 hours of good programming? G4 has what...30 minutes? An hour?
It's sad that the only thing watchable on the channel is an imported Science show from the UK (Brainiac) and an imported awesome show from Japan (Ninja Warrior/Sasuke)
I don't think there's anything that could save this channel, and I thought it was being given to E!, who was going to scrap it.
G4 has been in need of reform for way too long. It should have never changed from TechTV. It's like their thought process was "hey, here's a new channel that's getting to be pretty popular. Let's buy it and change it completely."

It looks like it fell into the "It has to be hip! It has to be now!"
The only problem was that their idea of "hip" and "now" expired over 10 years ago.
And what's with them showing retarded stuff like COPS, and that reality show where douche bags are caught cheating on their wives? It needs more content that demo would actually be interested in.

Well, I'm guessing with after paying all 6 of their Tv Personalities and their 7 studio crew members, they don't really have much money for anything else.

So... G4 has a wide variety of tech-related programming like TechTV's AudioFile, Big Thinkers, Call for Help, Eye Drops, Fresh Gear, Invent This, Robot Wars, The Screen Savers, Silicon Spin, Spy School, Titans of Tech, Tomorrow's World, etc? I could watch ZDTV/TechTV all day. I can't sit through 30 minutes of G4... unless it happens to be a show that was cannibalized from the TechTV merger.
G4 is trying to become Spike TV with a pinch of tech. That doesn't interest me in the least.
And what's with them showing retarded stuff like COPS,
You shut your goddamn mouth. You shut it now.
I've been known to watch an episode of COPS or two in my day. Something about watching other people's misery makes me happy. I guess that's why I also like Intervention on A&E. More specifically I like betting on the person's chances of staying in rehab and/or staying sober afterward.

It's called schadenfreude. It's probably what attracted you to this thread.
What gets me is that the merger called for Leo's/Patrick's/Yoshi's, etc. firings. Even if their shows were canceled, they were veterans with a fan base and should have been at the most reshuffled around, not let go.
Fresh Gear and Extended Play were my favorite shows.
Can anyone explain to me what the Spock market was all about? I saw it several times in previews a year or two back and, to my understanding, they shrank the episodes to half size and filled the borders with ads.
At least TechTV Canada was only half raped. Leo is still on and he has a sort of Screen Savers type show now (The Lab with Leo). It's actually better in my opinion, aside from the lack of Patrick. They don't waste a lot of time on stupid shit like they did later on with TSS.

The borders weren't ads. The right side had a useless running tally of various cliches like "Dramatic Kirk Pauses," the bottom had the scrolling preteen prattle that they have on other shows, too, and the Spock Market was on the right. It seems to be a stock market simulation using Star Trek related abbreviations. Equally useless. I never really liked the original series, but having it shrunk to half screen didn't help, and now they're doing it with TNG. Thank God they still keep some of the Trek timeslots full screen.
I keep thinking that I'm over the rape that G4 brought upon TechTV, but then every time I see a thread about how suck G4 is, I go off on another damn rant about it.
I'll admit that in TechTV's last few months, I kind of started drifting away from the station. I stopped watching X-Play cause of their goofy emphasis on making jokes rather than reviewing games, and I had begun to lose interest in watching The Screensavers and was rarely home to be able to catch Call for Help. Besides that, I didn't care for much else on the station.
Still, I couldn't help but despise G4 for ruining what was two great shows (TSS and CfH), an entire channel, and their attempt to try and bring in the "Woo! I love technology! Let's use it to make beer and tits!" crowd. I think what pissed me off the most was a year later when they had forcefully drug the TechTV staff over to Los Angeles only to fire everyone but Sessler, Webb, Rose, and those other three guys. All this for what? Reruns of COPS, The Man Show, Arrested Development (great show, but so out of place on that hellhole of a channel), and a half-assed attempt at a late-night [Adult Swim]-esqe block? What the fuck?
What the fuck indeed...

I watch Attack of the Show sometimes. It's surprisingly entertaining if you realize it's an entertainment show and is in no way trying to replicate or replace what The Screen Savers was. Other than that, I don't mind being able to catch Arrested Development, Ninja Warrior, or Cops every so often. I agree most of their original programming isn't spectacular, but it's on a surprisingly short amount of time during the day. I liked TechTV, but I don't think G4 is really that much worse than just about any other channel on TV. There are a couple shows I don't mind watching, the rest of it's stuff that I have no interest in ever seeing.

What the hell. G4 US could at least show The Lab.
It's not like they have to do anything extra, just copy the damn digital tapes.

It's been so long since I've posted here, I've removed my signature since most of what I had here were broken links. Shows over, you can carry on to the next post.
Listen. I use to frequent the G4 forums. in one year, there wer3 3,238,897,002 of these threads made. It is nothing new. I can't wait till you get banned.

Apparently they began showing (the new) Call for Help after a while but had it in a really REALLY bad timeslot so that didn't last long.
Why did they even merge the two? The demographics are only tangentially similar.
They would have gotten more out of it if they had run the two channels separately rather than gutting it, killing the good shows, and perverting the few decent ones that were left.
What they did is like coke merging with budweiser, then putting coke in the bottles instead of beer. It just doesn't make any sense...

For the record, I think G4 is trash and wish they hadn't gutted techtv. Fortunately all the good techtv people do their own podcasts now.
If I remember correctly, TechTV was actually on the up-and-up when it was merged with G4, who really just dragged it down into the abyss.
Goddamn it, I thought I was over this :x

Extended Play was at least watchable:

X-Play is like watching 12 year olds bicker about why their favorite generic character in a generic game is best.
I don't think there's anything that could save this channel, and I thought it was being given to E!, who was going to scrap it.

FreddyD that's the best line I've seen all day.

The people at G4 answer for their crimes in that thread.

These make me happy. Leo "Speaking of buttucks" (TWIT 99)
Alex Albrecht on his new video podcast, The Totally Rad Show. All about video games.
The weird thing is though, if you listen to him talk about games on Diggnation, he sounds like he's been gaming for maybe a year.
