I think it's just been easiest to use black/red as that's the default color of the Coin Slot design, but if we do a community vote on colors we can start trying to use a specific color scheme
I would say orange/green are close seconds in terms of common colors for the slots, I can see a darker color/orange combo working nicely
I'm at work or id toss something together

I don't have any digital art ability but I've got post its and a couple pens, so here's an idea I've been paper prototyping for layout.
Couple of ideas I was trying here as notes:
- I wanted the idea of like, a burnt out light in the top right corner, so that only CORE is fully illuminated. I have done this poorly, as I only had two colors of pen to work with, but I think it gets the idea across. Might be too fiddly or unnecessary, but I thought it was worth a try.
- This was ultimately limited by my ability to write very small with a 1.0 pen - I think ideally I'd like to have the whole word "Established" along that top arc of the coin, with maybe something else along the bottom (my fake Latin motto ideas haven't gotten further than "Galli, Phalli, Risus" but we can assuredly come to with something better).
I still love this color combo (and the design is solid):
I think will be a good contender with some typography/spacing tweaks. Might need something to aid in contrast on a light theme, but at least it'll reduce well.
It's a nice block of logo but, I don't think I would use two different fonts/treatments for the words.
I used a franklin gothic black variant (the librefranklin version that's available on google fonts, because it could also be used on the site itself) in my first versions because it's classic punk rock vibes, but I think most blocky san serifs would be reasonable to try.
edit: that older version just for reference from the other thread
bleh, I dunno. It's a bit garish in context. We really ought to try for something that works in a 1:4 or wider aspect ratio. And I'm not sold on the colors here. Maybe something can be done with the theme beyond color picking but I don't have the patience for it.

Yeah, it feels very bright there. Could maybe a darker outline or similar be used to tone that down a little bit?
I'm also not terribly fond of the blue/orange color scheme generally, but I know that's traditional.
Delz I'd like to see that same layout for the logotype without the tight kerning
I think the CR stamp looks really nice though

I'm in favor of muting the background color a bit, yeah
A Protoman-ish color scheme of red and gray might work with the Black/Red/White logos here

It's wild that it shows up that Blue there, but in your pic right above it's much darker. I agree this one is too bright, but if you could get it darker it might work. I agree though, that is def. not workign with the gray theme of the forum below it.
Rad work on all the variants to all of you. My only concern with some of what Jay posted (which all look great) is they might go the other direction and be way too bright (eye fatigue).

I think if we're not doing ads, the main banner could be a collage of stuff too.
Either a bunch of different CR designs, or some draw a horses or just a collage of avatars.
The orange on blue just pops so much because theyre complimentary. If it was just a black, darker gray, or a dark Navy blue background it wouldnt be as bad.
But in a true coin return fashion, it should have a flickering light animation on it. i dunno how you would draw the button stuck in the machine so that's probably less feasible.
Just spitballin colors using that design, if I may
You know I'm all about that black and lavender
Black and red or black and pink might be more accurate to real life, but black and lavender looks amazing

So, a few things. I absolutely love the ultra-simplified coin reject button logo that... maybe @Delzhand first created? It's extremely iconic, recognizable at all sizes, and abstracted enough to just look like a neat little bit of iconography.
I also love the purple/lavender, but even more do on dark grey (instead of black).
I also really like @Quetzi 's idea of subtly highlighting the "CoRe" part of the name.
So here's a direction I mocked up real quick. (Font is "Trouble" because it keeps some of the punk rock RAMONES vibes of Franklin Gothic while being more condensed and friendlier to tighter kerning)

I'm not sold on highlighting CO RE in the wordmark - I like it for CoRe Values, but beyond that it doesn't really have a double meaning. I'm not sure that "core" means anything as far as brand identity goes.
A bunch more treatments from this last night/this evening. I still personally like the scaled Hattenschweiler/Lemon Milk over Trouble, especially when given a bit more room to breathe so text-wise, 8 is probably my favorite, though 1 has potential, especially when you think about the fact that you're gonna have to scroll past this on every page load.
A common trick is to reverse it and see if you still like it, keeps you from "reading" the logo like text.

9, 5, and 8, respectively, with 2 as a bookmark logo, with H's color scheme
(I love all of this, I'm just taking it all logically as it hits my brain and collating it into what looks good to me)

I like 11 a bunch, stylistically
Not a big fan of the mixed fonts, I think in order to pull that off you need further divergence than we have there
Also I might not like the idea myself but I do feel like I have to say it - is it worth trying any of these with the O in Coin as an arcade token?

Big fan of 7 (looks better balanced than my mock up), and also 11 but with a singular font (I mocked up one like that but it looked weird with the CO RE highlights -- not super married to that though, was just a neat idea).
I also 1, but it might also need a slightly different font treatment. The obvious go-to would be bold and medium weights of the same font ("coin" being bolder), so that might be worth exploring? I think some kind of banner style 5:1ish aspect ratio version like that might be handy depending on the layout of the page.
Fake edit: the more I look at it, especially in reverse, the more I miiiiiight be coming around to 8 as well. I'm not 100% on the "RETURN" font, though because I think the two different "N"s clash noticeably, but there's definitely something there.

Also, 2 is a great favicon, but I'd probably ditch the coin slot and keep it as the more simplified icon of the button for legibility.

My 2 cents - 1 is fantastic for the header bar, though I do agree I think I don't like the disjoint fonts. 7 for the overall logo, and 2 for icon. My only request would be to add the coin slot to the others (like it is on #2). Amazing work again!
if we think two negative spaces (one for the slot, one for the label) is too busy but want to keep the slot, what if we swap it
Instead of a big negative for the label and a thick line to imply the slot, do a thin negative for the slot and leave the label area filled in
for the stacked CR Mark you can just have the letters be negative

And now, for something completely different
It's not as visually distinct as the traditional arcade one but it's a thought?

Could have the mascot saying in a word bubble "nani CoRe" Which would be a play on saying "what's this?"
