Is it only on the ship? The smart-gun resemblance hit me in the field when someone was hip firing; so that might just be me.

    Plasma Rifle is interesting.

Not sold on using it for squids yet. It might be a good bot weapon though.

The purifier is probably fine given its got some aoe boomf for packs of the voteless. The plas1 I don't think would be ideal. You need more sustained daka than strong punch from what I have seen. It would work but probably overkill for most targets.

Blitzer + AMR still feels like the right call for me against squids. Secondary Grenade pistol and impact nades for blowing up spawners. I gotta get better about shooting the hips of the Harvesters, I always get drawn to trying to snipe their eyes.

I was trying it out for Overseers with the MG-43 as my Voteless clearing option. Honestly didn't do that great. I did try it into bots and it did "fine" there. I'm not sure I'd rush to replace the DCS or Crossbow as my option there though.

I also tried the new SMG into squids (with AMR as my support weapon) and it was okay. Sucks down ammo but with the new armor set and all the ammo laying around I never ran dry.

Squids don't seem to overall at least for now have really thick armor so having a medium pen primary seems less required. I think tonight I am going to try crossbow + machine gun strat. Get a nice clump of voteless boop them with the crossbow other wise do work with machine gun and shoot doors with cross bow.

Medium pen is only required for harvester legs, overseer headshots, and maybe jetpacks? Makes a world of difference if you're into markmanship, but the way their armor flakes off means you can body pretty much anything out there with light pen.

The liberators seem like a good example. Overseer TTK goes up from P->C, but they all felt pretty balanced. The C stunlocks the shit out of them and strips warpship shields pretty well, iirc. Felt like it would be a really good compliment in a duo with a crossbow or something.

Yup stuff that hits a lot seems more useful vs illuminate than most things. I am almost tempted to try the scythe tonight a bit to see how that fares lots of fast hits, infinite ammo if careful, sets crap on fire could be strong.

The Tenderizer can take down an overseer in just one clip, even though it's just light armor penetration rated.

The high per-bullet damage and zero recoil, combined with how slow overseers move, lets you drill a hole in their armor and then kill them through it. You don't even need to aim for their head, you can just aim central mass and can get the job done so long as you land your shots.

It can also remove the shields from landed UFOs and Harvesters in less than a clip, so my squid loadout has been Tenderizer, Grenade Pistol, and Queso Cannon to take care of those from a distance both safely and easily.

is there some special requirement to get the free killzone stuff? friend of mine logged back in after a long time and got the yellow default armor and the helldivers 1 armor given out on 2 different logins, but hasn't gotten the killzone stuff even though she's logged out and in a few times. I got it when I first logged in today without doing anything special.

Try doing a mission. I got the armor just logging in, but the rest came after a mission.

It definitely seems to be begging to be used in conjunction with a machinegun, because you're going to need some chaff clearance to go with that. I might try it as a substitute for the Adjudicator or Scorcher which I usually take to complement the MG.

Also, Roadblock armor with Devastator helmet looks pretty great! I don't know who I am, I don't know what I'm doing, all I know is I must kill spread democracy.

After the squids were absolutely pasted in their latest attack (don't threaten new cars apparently) I went back to Shelt and gave the plasma sniper a bit more of a workout on bot 10s.

I'm warming up to it. It does a good job of killing rocket striders and devastators. Not so hot in a run and gun situation though and it's fairly overkill on anything below the chainsaw guys.

  • ArbitraryDescriptorArbitraryDescriptor Registered User regular
    Plasma sniper?? Shit.

I have also been laying seige to Shelt between squid incursions, but assumed the KZ plasma rifle, like the AR and SMG, was just splitting the difference between the existing offerings. Will have to give it a go next time.

  • NobodyNobody Registered User regular
One big warning I'll give with the plasma sniper is that it's not a "I need to fight off a patrol" weapon, it's a "I'm going to meticulously pick off everything around this objective" weapon.

Yeah, I wasn't super keen on it at first because its super finnicky; it fires three-round bursts that have to be charged first... and you only get three of them (Siege Ready buff does not appear to add any more). However, those three bursts will kill anything short of a Hulk if aimed for the center mass. But... that's not particularly helpful when you get rushed by half a dozen berserkers or a bunch of chaff. Better bring some flavor of machinegun as your support weapon, and you better not lose it.

The FRV is now available to all divers for requisition.

Unrelatedly, but helldiver deaths by vehicular incidents have suddenly gone up.

On the one hand, the Killzone collab stuff costs too much for what it is. On the other I love Killzone and I want that stuff. I don't know what the second wave stuff is going to be and I've got until next Friday to figure if I want any of it so I guess I'll hold off for now.

I've seen the FRV get dropped multiple times on bugs. Never on bots though (I sure as hell wouldn't bring one there).

Somewhat useful too, especially given how open Erata Prime is.

  • DysDys Registered User regular
Just, uh, be careful if you're riding shotgun how things like crossbow bolts can hit the car's gun and kill everyone inside.

Something I happened to accidentally learn yesterday.

They come and go. I've only seen them gone for 4-6 hours at most before they pop up again. I agree with Nobody, they are likely keeping to the "lore" that they are scouting and when the show up in force, they'll have more units.

They are revamping the super store in the future and they extended the timeline from 5 days to 10. We don't know much more than that. It may come down to how the contract with Guerrilla games is structured.

Tried out the plasma sniper. It seems pretty decent against bots. Funny enough I had a "kill 100 with auto cannon" mission, so I had that was well, and the sniper was doing better against devastators. I might need to watch some youtube about how to use the auto cannon as I sucked with it. I feel like I unloaded an entire clip into a hulk and it just kept going.

Autocannon can kill hulks in two shots, but you have to hit them in the eye. It’s pretty hard without stun grenades. If you’re not hitting the eye or the back weakpoint, the autocannon doesn’t do much against hulks.

  • BahamutZEROBahamutZERO Registered User regular

I don't find the autocannon that great on bots in general, you can blow up infantry with the explosions of the shots but everything can kill them, you can kill devastators but it's annoying to aim it with all the recoil, compared to a medium penetration primary or machine gun or something. It's hard to hit hulk eyes consecutively with the aforementioned recoil but not impossible, I might just be bad also.

Trying to remember if you can take out their legs or arms with the AC or if it's still an armor level too high for it
