Here's a Christmas gift of Bandido wrestling back before injuries had put him on the shelf for a year and returned to get a concussion. It just so happens to be against my favorite wrestler of all time. I'll have a new wrestling match for every day of the holiday forums.

So hey real questions because I’m out of touch and haven’t seen it yet/haven’t looked into how:
If I wanted to watch Final Battle
1. Is it worth it?
2. Is there an easy/cheap way to do that? Like, can I sign up for a month of subscription somewhere or does it have to be purchased standalone?

Everything I have seen says it's exclusively on HonorClub and the opinion of people I trust said it was worth it. Not an amazing show, but worth the time and money it costs to watch it.

Honor Club is like 10 bucks a month, so basically 10 dollars to watch the ppv. Though now that it's aired you can probably find it on seedier websites.

I had plans to attend Collision because I didn't have the energy to head over after work on Friday for Final Battle and Dynamite was taping in the afternoon on Sunday. I ended up not attending any of the shows, but it was sold out with a hot crowd so that's good at least.

I lost access to legal ways to watch AEW TV ages ago, so I'm glad it'll be simulcast to MAX so I can watch it again. They had a black Friday sale where MAX (with ads) is 3 dollars a month for the next 6 months, so I figure that'll give me time to decide if it's worth keeping just for AEW and old Mythbusters episodes (though for some reason even though I think Discovery is a WB property, not every episode/season of Mythbusters is up there. I just wanted to watch Underwater Car)

I'm considering adding ROH Honor Club since this week is the last Rampage, I might as well replace that hour with a new show. We already have Max, so I'm excited about the other shows hitting over there. We have cable, but our DVR is two tuners, so if Survivor and the Celtics are on Wednesday, it means AEW doesn't get recorded and I have to wait until it's on-demand on the TNT app, which is flakey at best. It'll be nice to know I can watch it the next morning.

While large arenas are awesome, there's something really cool about smaller arenas too. Creates a more intimate setting. Maybe it's just the Hammerstein Ballroom though.

The Hammerstein Ballroom is one of the coolest venues that wrestling uses for shows, but I think anything that makes them setup the arena in a different way helps a lot. Even the Daily's Place shows have a cooler feel than stuff in a standard arena.

Not everything can be as cool as KBS Hall in Kyoto

I’ve been watching the WWE events of 2024 on Peacock. Started with wrestlmania. It was fantastic. Then on the summer slam. If I’m lucky I’ll be caught up right around Royal Rumble. Which I think is on Netflix.

But also yes, sitting there and not moving at all when you only have one shot at it....Hangman should be more prominent in the product. Even if Tony Khan blames him for getting rid of his favorite wrestler.

Considering how they must have soaked the interior of that house in gasoline I think if hangman had been sitting directly in line with the front door he would have gotten hit by that first giant gout of flame.

He’s in the main event of the next ppv and is featured on tv every week. He’s prominent in the product.

That's to teach them to work safe and the wwe style, especially how to work a hard cam. It's no coincidence the best wrestlers have wrestled around the world and not stayed in one place. Same reason NJPW sends people on excursions.

Working to the hard camera at the expense of surrounding areas. Usually a slower style then independents in America or lucha promotions. Also a very heavy emphasis on good vs bad with the match centered around the good guy being beaten down and eventually either coming back to win or the bad guy shutting it down at the last second through power or cheating.

If traditional strong style can be described as a game of chicken where both wrestlers start with a feeling out process before escalating into throws and submissions leading to the more desperate competitor to take up striking then "sports entertainment" traditionally follows this formula.

1. Babyface gets the shine right out of the gate to either establish them as a flashy star to get behind or an underdog who is having little effect on a monster heel.
2. Heel gets the heat.
3. Heel gets the heat for probably too long as the beat down is extended. This is extra formulaic in tag matches where one person "plays Ricky Morton" in the face in peril act.
4. Hope spot. This is a comeback, often the five moves of doom
5. (optional) dub spot. Either the comeback is shut down or the comeback was all a burst of adrenaline just barely keeping the underdog standing. Now they're both down.
6. False finishes leading to the finish or if this is like half the matches on NXT these days somebody just interferes completely invalidating all previous steps.

The benefit of this format is that big epic matches feel even more dramatic. The drawback is that midcard matches feel even more formulaic.
