As for Death Riders, I get what they were going for and the angle started in an intriguing way, but I think they ran into the pitfalls of being a weekly western TV wrestling show, feuding over concepts too abstract for pro wrestling. It's a total domination angle vaguely revolved around the culture of the entire company. Essentially an invasion angle, which has rarely if ever worked, but with no end goal. If he wins, what happens? If he loses, what happens? Moxley is unlikely to just go away.

I mean, they had a title match a PPV or two ago. But I'm not sure "put the belts on the very popular comedy tag team" is the answer either.

Also if merch sales mattered that much, Danhausen would be world champ.

In a bit of surprising news, Mifu Ashida, formerly of Ice Ribbon (and by formerly, I mean as of about half a day ago when the calendar ticked over, legally speaking) has announced she has joined Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling and will be debuting at their Ittenyon Korakuen Hall show on 1.4.2025

She was one of the people who announced that she was leaving Ice Ribbon at the end of the year, presumably due to the issues Ice Ribbon has been having with money flow/being able to pay their roster lately.

I think once the Bucks actually stopped having as much booking power, it was always going to be towards more of the stuff Tony Khan likes. I'm sure he does like tag teams, but not as much as he likes singles wrestling.

The archive stuff has started going up on Max, though. Currently there’s one series called “AEW” that holds the 2019 Dynamites and the 2024 Dynamites and Collisions from 10/30 to 12/21.

There’s a second series called “AEW Special Events” that currently holds the 2019 ppvs, including Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen.

Sadly, in Canada, AEW is not on Crave (our shitty version of HBO). But Collision is definitely on the new USA Network rebrand this Saturday!

Meanwhile, WWE Network is officially dead here. All programming is scheduled on Netflix (except, for some reason, this Friday's Smackdown, although that might just be an error), and there's even a mini-Network containing a bunch of old PPVs, so at least there's that.

Watched a Christmas episode of Dynamite as it seemed to be the most recent one up on MAX. Great Osprey/Darby match at least. My grandmother simply could not understand why Darby would do that to himself, and my explanation of 'he's very young and very stupid' didn't seem to help.

In Southern Ontario, at least, USA is on 42. It replaced whatever Discovery Channel was.
