What do you do if a fascist throws a grenade at you

Catch and throw it back. Either I get them or at least I die relatively quickly being in the center of the blast radius

Nope you just pick it up and pull the pin out and throw it right back at him

I wonder how many Germans died to grenades simply because Americans grew up playing baseball and could rip those things.

Probably about as many Americans blew themselves up because they grew up playing baseball in Boston and spent the fuse time sanding down one side of the grenade.

Spoiling because, yeah, it's smallpox and kinda gross.
    smallpox-reddit.jpg

Circa 1901. Two boys aged 13, both infected with smallpox at the same place and time. The one on the right was vaccinated; the one on the left was not. The one on the right you might say had a breakout infection, but it was very mild and healed quickly. The smallpox vaccine was not perfect, but it still eradicated smallpox in the end.

I have a series of scars when I threw a defective grenade. It flew about between 10 to 15 feet before it went off because I was mostly behind a car and wall when it did I only got a small part of the blast/shrapnel. Even then it was more like a loud firework bang

I just had a stress dream where I was in high school and had do a forty page essay. I wrote one comparing and contrasting Polyphemus and Anaxagoras, which ultimately argued that Polyphemus was more important to and influential on Greek culture.

    I got an F.

Frumenty was served with meat as a pottage, traditionally with venison or even porpoise (considered a "fish" and therefore appropriate for Lent)

Hahah yeah! Suck loophole God you omniscient fuckin idiot! I get to eat delicious delicious porpoise meat even though it's Lent! Lol! Fuck you!

Beavers and muskrats, too. And this isn't just one of those old medieval things, modern-ass Catholics still eat barbecued beaver on Fridays during Lent because they're abstaining from prohibited land-meats.

Huh. I'd heard of gator, but not beaver. Also I kind of feel that's just ignoring the whole spirit of the thing. Go get some Indian food or something.

Yeah, that's the way we always did it when I was a kid. You can go out and eat lobster and scallops and you're technically not eating meat, but it's kind of a stretch to call that a fast. I remember rice and raisins being a common go-to for dinner. Kinda sucked on the years when Easter fell late enough in the liturgical calendar to run into the heavy farm labor season.

Nowadays you can get your rice bowl with a Lent calendar that focuses on a different super-flipping-poor region of the world each week and caps off with a meatless poor family dish recipe from said region. A couple of those dishes have become staples in our household, actually.

Grim. My sister would love it. I'd send her a link, but it would just encourage her to inquire about my walk with Christ some more, and that's not good for anyone.

Jesus would be great to hang out with. Go for a walk, wreck up a megachurch, chase people out while whipping them with the HDMI cables from the colossal TVs lining the auditorium. Good times.

It's the people claiming to be like him that I have issues with.

It's honestly a good thing that Lenten prohibitions are based on water animals versus land animals instead of a biological definition of fish, otherwise Stephen Jay Gould could have really wrecked the Filet O' Fish market.

There’s also the … British talk show? … thing, where they have a marine biologist on who basically goes on a tear about how there’s no such thing as a fish because it’s a stupid category.

Wish I could find the link, it was pretty good …
