Uhh to beat the tank if I recall correctly you're supposed use explosive arrows to stop the machine gun fire, then use the piercing arrows on the actual tank itself, while dodging the main cannon every couple seconds or so.

    First playthrough I missed it.

Arrows of any kind for the laser drones. You can hit them in the Warehouse before they start lasering. And you can fill up on both arrows before you need them for boss fights. Or, Windmill shuriken if you're in the thick of a fight, like in Mission Mode.

    For the tank,
forget the machine gunner. Just pump it full of armor piercing arrows, and roll jump out of the way of the cannon fire. You can even set it up so that the arrow box blocks the main gun. I turn the helicopter into a pincushion now also. Practice is everything with this game.

I was more impressed at, not the fact that a badass ninja can take out a tank, but the tank could defend itself quite well from said badass ninja. I still love the concept of a Ninja vs a Tank though. The game's art direction is all kind of crazy (Aztec, Egyptian, aincent japan, futuristic military, etc) but... well that's about it, it's crazy.

Egyptian tomb under a Japanese town what is patrolled by high-tech military types?

For the tank, if you fire an explosive arrow and it hits ANY part of the tank, the machine gunner will duck inside for a bit. So hit the tank with an explosive arrow, then use armor piercing ones until he pops out again.

And the red Devil Dinosaur dudes?

There is an easy but tedious way to beat them. Run up a wall, jump off, do the drop-down slice attack with your regular sword (forget the name of it). Rinse and repeat. They just stand there and take it, and the only thing they can do to hurt you while you're doing this ad nauseum is breathe flame, but then you just do a jump off their head to cancel that.

Definitely the easiest way, but also the most boring. Those dinosaur dudes are among the most enjoyable to fight, but it's completely wasted if you take the easy way out.

I loved the original but the PS3 one doesn't have enough new content to keep me satisfied. Love the HD Resolution though.

So, just how hard is Hard? I've started playing the Sigma demo on my PS3 (which is lacking in good games to play) and I've been enjoying it. How representative is the demo to the game? Is there an easy difficulty? I find that if I get too frustrated, I just won't play the game. I game to have fun, not to throw 50$ controllers in frustration. Should someone like me get this game?

yeah absolutely, I'd say get it. There is an easier difficulty, but you need to die 3 times to get it. the demo is a great indicator of the overall game, I just think it gets better as you go along, and the weapons + moves you get are outstanding.

I never feel like I am totally above the bad guys, every time I feel like I could kick anything's ass, a few moments later I get challenged again, be it a new combination of enemy types, a slightley hatder boss battle, an enemy with more armour than last time, etc. This happens all the way through the game, when you get better, the challenge ups constantly so it always feels satisfying to win any fight.

Got the game a few days ago. It's my first Ninja Gaiden game and I dig it. I haven't gotten stuck so far...

Sigma is pretty tempting since I think I may have hit a brick wall in NG2...

Mentor Mode multi rocket launcher tactical ninjas and claw ninjas constantly throwing god damn explosive darts are really testing my patience.

Is it too much to ask to just fight normal ninjas and demons?

Although I shudder at the thought of not having UT or OT...

I played through Ninja Gaiden Black once and loved it. It could be very difficult at times, but it was wonderful. My favorite combo to use on enemies was XXXY with the dragon sword since I believe that was the combo to cut off heads. If it didn't kill them, then I think used an extra X at the end (can't really remember exactly).

I had this guy at my company say "Ninja Gaiden looks gay" and "God of War is so much better", passed the controller over to him, and he could not even pass the first mission. I think he sulked for a good week after that.

I fully endorse this bump. Ninja Gaiden is the pinnacle of action games even to this day.
I loved the original but the PS3 one doesn't have enough new content to keep me satisfied. Love the HD Resolution though.

I would question that. I'm the biggest NG fanboy I know, and I pretty much play Sigma exclusively now. I have NG and Black as well. (The reasons for this are more hardware related than software related, though.)

There are some very interesting and subtle changes to Sigma from Black:

    1. Even though it may not appear so, they touched every single thing in the game, graphically. The first 3 stages are the most obvious, but the entire game got an HD wash. This includes hd textures for everything and bump mapping on almost every enemy which was absent entirely from NG or NGB. Every regular enemy got a couple new animations (stumble stun, roll stun, etc.) and Ryu got separate animations for Reverse Wind dependent upon direction.

    2. The enemy AI has been altered significantly. It's very subtle, but it's there. In fact, I'd say almost every enemy got an AI pass. The two most obvious alterations are off-screen behavior and downed-advantage. In Black, no enemy would attack you from off screen. In Sigma, this behavior is gone and is much more analogous to NG2. Off camera attacks are not only allowed, but they're frequent. This will turn a lot of people off, but I think it improves the game. It makes you utilize other cues more effectively. Also, it prevents you from exploiting certain aspects of the game and makes every enemy as deadly as they should be. Gallas and Berserkers in particular.

The other change comes in downed-advantage. In NGB (even on Master Ninja), if you knocked and enemy down, they were done for as long as you focused on them. This is no longer the case in Sigma. Enemy recovery time has decreased to the point that if you don't knock them down right next to you, you won't get the down attack off. They also tweaked the risk-reward for a lot of moves. For instance, if you do a Crimson Slash (X,X,X) against any enemy that can block, they will block it entirely, and you will get thrown in Sigma with no chance of escape (aside from Ninpo Cancel). In Black, this was very rarely the case as you could roll away or in some cases just start another combo.

    3. Streamlining - They removed all the superfluous fetching from the game entirely. Bouncer outside the club? Replaced by MVAPs. Swimming Chapter? Totally revamped. Then, add in some new areas (that are even reused in NG2).

    4. Survivals. These are a mixed bag to say the least, but IMO, they are definitely worth the money.

    5. Other new stuff - New enemies, new weapons, water combat and in-air bow firing. The biggest and most welcome change, however is the item menu. That streamlines the game immensely.

However, there are some caveats to a total acceptance of Sigma as the bona fide NG experience:

    1. Less costumes than Black - I don't really understand that, but whatever.
    2. Rachel sections are debatable - I actually enjoy playing as Rachel, but most people are turned off by her sections. To each, his own.
    3. Loading and non-perfect framerate - Very annoying
    4. Lack of cinema and unlockables.
