a lot of the criticism mentioned in this wiki article relates to how fixed the characteristics of the different species were (all hares are ___, all moles are ___, etc.)

I think that was one of my favorite things when I read them

it made it so easy to get to know the characters no matter what time period the book was set in, and I fucking loved those moles

I always thought the pictures of Brocktree's sword were inaccurate. The book seems to describe it being enormous.

I always pictured it as this sword.

It made the battles in my head so much better. Swinging that massive blade around, cutting vermin in half.

    Opera

In 1996, Evelyn Swenson composed an opera based on the first book in the Redwall series. It was produced by Opera Delaware in Wilmington, DE and later toured Europe.[15]

    what

    no movie mentioned, though

Hopefully they'd go the slightly dark, pg-13 route with it and satisfy all of the now-adult or late-teens fans.

Which was shit and ran on public access where I live.

I mean it's got talking animals, adventure and is somewhat kid friendly.

    Perfect CG Children's movie material.

Not saying that it would be good.

Just that it seems like a likely choice.

CG movies suck. Need to find whoever did Watership Down, have them animate it. I seem to remember parts of the book to be rather brutal, so hopefully it would serve as good character building for yet another generation.

They'd need character to build on. If my generation is any indicator, the next batch won't brew up just right, savvy?

I sincerely doubt that there are enough Adult/Teen Redwall fans to create profit for a dark movie about talking animals.

I'm using "character building" in the C&H sense. Read it as "nightmare fuel" if you want.

Furries tend to like stylized, humanoid animals - big eyes, perfect upright posture, skin that's not actually furry but just funny-colored. Really, the only thing they keep around are ears, tail, and sometimes paws. I would rather see a Redwall animated with almost-realism (excepting bipedalism). Again, Watership Down - from the screenshots remembered, it had rabbits rendered to ink instead of just little fat people with long ears.

I've never actually read them. I was too busy reading R.A. Salvatore and not realizing how bad he is.

Also, James Patterson and Dean Koontz and Stephen King.

    And the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar.
