Yeah, you don't really NEED to get a concert wristband, as there has almost always been enough room. Haven't seen anyone denied, myself. But I have always been in line early enough to get one.

Theater is only slightly bigger this year, plus nearly double attendance... This above info may be in danger of being invalidated :P
Also you cant line up any earlier than 8am on friday.

You can't stop people from making a line. You can just stop them from making it in a certain area.

It can be stopped in the convention center.
Seattle police will stop it outside the convention center once it reaches a certian # of people

hmmm is it worth getting there mid day friday? Like 3 or 4?
I had originally planned to only go Saturday Sunday but figured I might take Friday afternoon off and head down from Vancouver (hopefully the border won't be insanity...rigggght!).
Also I'm staying in Lynnwood since last minute plans and hotel rooms don't mix! But how is parking around the convention centre? Cost isn't a huge deal, since it's gonna be expensive but I don't wanna have to park miles away if I can avoid it.
OHHH and how long ahead of time should I be there for the talks at the theatres? I imagine some will be packed while others will be dead...
Considering PAX only opens at 2pm Friday, yes it's worth it.
Don't take the Peace Arch. Go to the truck route.
There is street parking around the convention center, the WSCTC has its own garage (though it might fill up this year), and there are several other garages in the area. It'll cost you $25-$40 per day, depending on what you find.
It depends on what panels you plan to attend. If you think it's going to be popular, show up early and stand in line. Seating is limited to the size of the theatre. If you think it'll be dead, show up when you want.

Thanks. I'm on the fence about Friday since it's gonna be just insane with the long weekend and all. If I leave Saturday I can leave at 5 or 6am and avoid a lot of hassle. and get down in time for the opening. Plus it would save me 150$+
- I can buy a 1 day pass AT the convention center right?
Yes.
- Assuming it's $30 bucks, do I need anything else? License? Birth cert? Cash/plastic?
Cash or Plastic. I assume bring ID to be safe if you're paying with plastic.
- What's the earliest time that I can buy my badge? Is it a different line from the "Will Call"?
Yes, the desk to buy a pass is a different line. You can't get into the convention center until 8am, so then.
- Is 7am friday morning early enough to try to find street/garage parking?
Should be. Familiarize yourself with where a couple of garages are to be safe, but the WSCTC and the lot under Pacific Place should both have spots.
- Are there a lot of people outside around 7am?
Probably, some people are talking about milling around early because they like lines. I think they're a little crazy, I'll be down at Pike Place Market getting breakfast. The event staff is discouraging showing up before the convention center is open, come on, it's like 6 hours before the event starts.
- One last thing....can I have all your materia?
No.
Hope you're excited, PAX is awesome! I can't wait for next week. PAX is getting so close I can taste it!!!

Are there any places available to buy games within walking distance of PAX? I'm concerned that there won't be enough Mercs 2 to go around for console free play, and there's no way to buy it before the trip.

Note, useful street parking is basically non-existant before 6 pm. Because the only street parking in the area only lets you pay for 2 hours at a time (after 6 pm it's free).

Here's my problem. My wife and I are checking out of our hotel on Sunday. Is there a place we can stow our luggage so we don't have to haul them with us around the convention? That would be a real pain. Thanks for the help guys! I can't wait for next week.

The hotel will usually hold your luggage for you for a while after you check out if you have other stuff to do before you depart.
I think I already asked a few of these, but I lost the answers. So maybe you veterans can help me out here.
1. Is bringing a backpack inside okay?
2. Can I have food/water inside said backpack?
3. Can I bring in a still and/or video camera?
4. Does playing in a tournament (specifically, World of Warcraft) cost anything?
5. Is it reccomended to bring a poster tube? If so, I'm going to need a bigger backpack.
6. Do all of the booths and vendors take a Debit card, or should I bring my checkbook and/or cash?
7. Any need to worry about pickpockets?
8. I'm not staying in a hotel (only making it a day trip via ferry and bus), so is there anything else that is reccomended I bring?
1. Yes.
2. No (technically, but it's unlikely you'll be searched or anything...)
3. Yes.
4. Not to my knowledge.
5. I do not know how vendors handle posters, nor do I think they would all handle them the same.
6. Not all vendors take plastic.
7. Be situationally aware and use common sense. It's a crowd of tens of thousands.
8. Depends on your interests.
I'll be heading to PAX 08 not just to enjoy what the place has to offer, but to also capture as much of the convention as a way of capturing and remembering the enjoyable times there as well. I am currently doing this in a convention I'm attending right now and snapping as many pictures to capture the moments of the con.
However, there is a time when neither the convention host nor several participants would agree with some of the pictures and the way I should take those pictures.
The huge questions and issues that currently bugs me as I plan to visit these events is what are the rules when taking photography at PAX? Are there places in PAX where photography is either disallowed or restricted?

Last year, there were certain panels/presentations that did not want photography/video, and they explicitly said so at the beginning of the event. Unless you're specifically told it's not ok to take pictures, go nuts.
I was driving some out-of-towner friends around, and I kept complaining about being blinded. They responded with "You see, where we come from, people tend to wear Sunglasses." I retorted with a simple "You people tend to have sun."
Playing in tournaments is free, You just have to be there early to sign up.
Unless you got a BYOC (bring your own computer) seat, you cant play in the WoW tournament. that is for BYOC attendees only.
Thanks guys. I'm still full of questions though.
I'm mostly asking for my friends who may or may not be coming. I noticed on the schedule that the Halo 3 and Guitar Hero III tournaments, for example, have a registration block, but WoW does not. I'm pretty sure my friends have laptops to bring. So, if they wanted to compete, and we got there when the doors open on Saturday, what do they have to do? Do they HAVE to bring their own computer to play?

The WoW tournament is for BYOC only and BYOC spots sold out two weeks after they went up for sale.
Does anyone know the exact daily parking cost at the convention center or what it will be this weekend? I was going to call them but I thought someone might of already.

Unless you got a BYOC spot before they sold out in july you wont be playing in the WoW tournament, its for BYOC only.
If you do happen to have a BYOC pass then you just sign up with the rest of the PC tournaments.
