Man, I can't even fathom someone liking Countdown over 52. 52 is like a modern classic, with characters that made me care about them, and interesting and changing plots. Countdown just feels like the entire plot was written on a napkin, and they needed a few months of filler.
Countdown has very little to do with FC. Why do you guys keep talking about it in this thread?
Anyway after reading Morrison's description in Wizard, which promised Kirby dots and the New Gods actually manifesting in Earth, I think I have a better idea of where this is going.
If there was ever a year to skip out on the majority of the DCU, the Countdown year was it. You didnt really miss much (except maybe Green Lantern if you havent been reading that.)

no I have
I just meant central DCU stuff (i.e. JLA, Salvation Run, Any other events they did that I can't bring myself to care about anymore)
The big difference between Countdown and the Sinestro Corps War for me is that SCW worked because it grew organically from events that Johns set up in Green Lantern (and other stuff he wrote) and felt like a culmination of something, and Countdown never felt like it grew out of anything.
I'm hoping that looking back, we'll see hints about Final Crisis that we missed (and hopefully in things other than Seven Soldiers) because if something's going to be affecting an entire universe, I'd like to have some signs of what's to come, rather than just having it happen.
I mean, I'd like it to be a good story, first and foremost, but part of being an event series is how and why it affects the universe it takes place in.

In addition to slipping out the names of future storylines like "The Dark Side Club" and "The Manazons," DiDio confirms a sequel to Kingdom Come in the works, that both Morrison AND Quitely will be working on All-Star Superman past their initial twelve issues, and answers five consistently asked rumors (but doesn't reveal the questions to which they belong):
Number 5. Yes, it's true: he is returning and sooner than you think.
Number 4. Nope, didn't do it then and have no plans to try to do it again.
Number 3. Don't worry, he'll be back in FINAL CRISIS in all his glory.
Number 2. Wrong. This time final means final. Seriously.
Number 1. Last one is a tough one. The change is coming, it's just not the way everyone thinks.

Is that stuff with New Gods and the Fifth World still going to happen? Will it be in Final Crisis?
Yes! I would so buy that.

easily
I just realized that I've been pretty detached from the DCU as a whole since 52, kind of sad really

god i want late 90's DC back

I want to like the DCU again
I really want to
make me care Grant Morrison
you're my only hope
(Geoff Johns and The Blackest Night)
that's two books that I already love
The teases for the fate of the Green Lantern Corps are interesting.
Pick up the Legion of Super-Heroes Showcase Vol. 1. It's hillarious. I think there's a Vol. 2 coming out soon.
The Action Comics storyline that just wrapped up managed to be faithful to the Silver Age LoSH without being cheesy. Definitely worth getting.
I want The Manhattan Guardian and Frankenstein to appear, but I don't really see that happening.
DiDio spills some beans

Also, doesn't Kingdom Come already have a sequel?
Crisis Harder
Sequel doesn't mean second.

because god dammit...
No, it's Satannus, who's one of the major antagonists in Giffen's Reign in Hell mini-series.

...I'd rather have late 80's up 'till 95 DC. I really loved that Post Crisis Superman run. And JLI.
Starman as in Jack?!
