ok, well i plan on trying to get this idea across and i figured the forums would be a good place to drum up some support... i want bruce campbell to come to pax.... and have a panel.... hes honestly the most bad ass guy ever and im sure that if he went to pax that he would not dissapoint in the way of entertainment... hes had a few games out, they werent very great but thats ok (evil dead regeneration is worth playing just for the dialog), and most nerd folk would kill to see him at pax.......
He's done voice work in a few other games as well (all the tutorials in the Spider-Man movie games). The most interesting thing I think would to get his reaction to Duke Nukem stealing a bunch of his one-liners from Army of Darkness. I've seen him in person several times and he is always great but I dunno if he would fit into the PAX vibe.
Having met Bruce Campbell at a book signing, all I can say is that he would be a terrific asset at any venue that values creativity, determination, and love of your craft.
Video games, just like acting, is tough to break into, but the fact is you don't need to star in a blockbuster to exercise your talents. Campbell never won an academy award but he's undeniably (in)famous. Proof that you can get somewhere by knowing what you can do and being professional. I guess being highschool chums with Sam Raimi doesn't hurt either.
His Video Game work also includes voice talent in the Spider Man series. (as noted sobjw)
EDIT: He had a starbuck's "the way I see it" entry that was actually printed, and typifies his outlook:
The Way I See It #65: If you're worried about getting a job--or keeping one--start a company of your own. By doing so, you'll reap the rewards of your hard work and you'll only get fired if you fail. This is the land of opportunity. Live in it.
The only way Id want to see Bruce Cambell at PAX would be if he were to announce that he is going to do something. Like a another movie, or voice act in a new game or ANYTHING. He's really talented and entertaining, but his career has been stagnant for too long.

Guys, this man "smells like a sound" for Pete's sake! If you any of you are anti-Bruce you better know that he is "on the hunt" and that he is "after you".
Seriously, though I am huge Campbell fan and I would totally freak the hell out if he was at PAX.

honestly guys are any of you serious when you say he wouldn't fit in with pax.... hes bruce F**king campbell.... if he doesnt fit into pax... neither does tycho or gabe.......
Bubba Ho-Tep anyone? Besides maybe being the greatest concept ever for a movie, Bruce is the best in it. After being raised on Elvis music and movies I have to say that this is the best impersonation I've ever seen. He really captured the essence of Elvis and convinced me that he was a great actor. If he has this kind of commitment to such a low budget flick why the hell don't they put him front and center in a big time blockbuster already?
He hasn't had anything to do with video games except voicing Ash for the various shitty Evil Dead games.
I don't really see what he'd do at a convention that's pretty much about gamers.
Well, to be fair, Wil Wheaton doesn't really have much to do with games either, but he fit in like aces. PAX seems to be evolving into more of a geek-expo, than game-expo.

Yeah, but you have to be a cool geek. I mean, Bill Gates can be classified as a geek, however I think if he were to do the keynote at PAX......the reaction would be.....somewhat different than that of Wil Wheaton or Bruce Campbell.

Wil's a gamer and a voice actor for several games. Check his imdb profile. :P
How can you be a Bruce Campbell fan and not heard of Brisco? You need to go out and buy the dvd's immediately! It's a western, mixed with a little Sci-fi, and it's got Bruce as the lead. Also, it was created by one of the producers of Lost and has a few cameos of Lost actors in it.
If I run into Bruce around town, maybe I will ask him about PAX. I've seen him a couple of times and my buddy has also seen him around at the local bars here.

Hey, is he still running that lavender farm? He had a website and I was going to take a tour (I just live a few miles north in Eugene), but then the site went down without further notice.

I actually like Jack of All Trades way more than Brisco. Maybe it was just the camp/humor in it that amused me so.

The Bruce at PAX is an inspired idea. One that I gladly support with every fiber of my being.
Plus, I could finally have the chance to get my copy of "Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way" signed by the man himself.

Hey, is he still running that lavender farm? He had a website and I was going to take a tour (I just live a few miles north in Eugene), but then the site went down without further notice.
I was under the impression that PAX was started as a gamer expo, wasn't it? IE, by gamers, for gamers, etc. As opposed to what E3 had turned into?
(Could be wrong, this is my first year I'll be going.)
wait what?
Heh, I meant with respect to getting bill gates. Sure, you could make the argument that he's a "geek" (or was one), but is he a gamer geek?
Now, getting the head of the xbox division, Robert Bach or something might be more relevant.
Of course, Bill doesn't actually work at Microsoft anymore anyway.
....... bruce campbell..... thats the topic.... hes funny, awesome and would fit in..... Robert Bach ....... not the topic... not funny.... would drone on and on...
....... bruce campbell..... thats the topic.... hes funny, awesome and would fit in..... Robert Bach ....... not the topic... not funny.... would drone on and on...
I'm not sure you got my context, since I was mostly agreeing with your basic premise: IE, get geeks related to gaming. That said, Robert Bach, the head of the entertainment division at MS is probably a suit, but I've never met him (he works at a different campus from the one I do)
But yeah, you're right, you need someone entertaining as well. Hm. I'd suggest Yahtzee, but it's expensive to fly people to/from Australia. Plus he swears a lot, and Americans seem to have delicate ears (damned Sci-fi channel muted so much of Ghost in the shell the other day, but I'm getting off topic)
Honestly, if I met Bruce Cambell at PAX that would basically have made the cost of my flight, accommodation and ticket all worthwhile just in and of itself.
Like, if instead of being PAX it was "Meet-Bruce Cambell X" I would probably still go.

I loved hearing him talk about arcade machines and his stories. Given his Wii-ton console name I thought he was pretty relevant. I do think we need someone like will for this year too. BC might not fit the bill honestly. That wild tangent CEO guy was horrid though. He was not fun to hear at all.

I don't necessarily know if he would be keynote material, but I didn't think Wheaton would be either. He certainly proved me wrong.
Aaaah....memories. That just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
That was such a great game, Im suprised it didnt get more attention in the media.
Never heard of that.

How can you say that a man who has had his likeness used in a video game not be relevant. Plus he is obviously a good speaker who enjoys doing it.
