I was trying to think if I had any things I'd forgotten about lying around. I suspected not, because I have most of the unassembled things in a pile, taunting me.
But I was wrong, there's a partially assembled Tau Piranha here I forgot I even owned. And a zoanthrope I intentionally forgot about. Now one question remains, why did I buy a Tau Piranha?
So today I found a Warboss in my mailbox, the model (the one with the attack squig) is pretty cool looking, but I wanted to give him a power klaw but I'd have to make one from scratch because those I have are too small to look good and I don't know where to start as my converting experience is minimal and the model is metal.
Can some of the ork players around help me out with some tips on how to get a power klaw on my boss?
I built this one out of a Tau Gun, Dreadnought Flamer, and a few extras.
That just gave me a great idea! I'll see what I can do with what I have around but if it turns out the way I think it will...
:winky:
So far I made it out of a Tau landing gear and some blades, but I think I might use some larger ones. I'm going to add some hidraulics linked to the blades (I think I can make it out of a space wolves banner), and then make a bigger frame for it. Making the bigger frame is going to be the problem I think.
Yeah I tought about it but it looks a bit wierd. I was thinking of sharpening the back of the blades but what's troubling me right now is the hidraulics, after that I may even slap on 3 choppas and go all WAAAAGH!! and stuff.
Sadly photobucket is in maintenance but I made huge progress. The thing is also HUGE. As tall as a marine on a base, which is only proper for a warboss.
As soon as photobucket is done mantaining their stuff I'll post new pictures.
It will be a right hand power klaw so the top part is the one with two claws. This is roughly what I think I'll do.
I'm going to drill a hole into that round thing in the middle of the claw and either make it into a shoota, or if I cut it and replace it with meltagun bits I can make it into a flamer. On the hidraulics, I wanted to make them shorter but I have no idea how to make them go well with the rest of the klaw, at least the top ones, the bottom hidraulic seems nice at that lenght.
It's some of that stuff people usually use to stick posters on walls and stuff like that. I use it to check if stuff looks good before glueing it.
I did test turning the blades around and it doesn't look as good, altough it does make more sense.
What's your oppinion on the possible flamer in the middle of the claw? I could always leave it as a shoota with a hole in the middle (it still has the burst cannon ammo belt so I guess it would work) and slap the flamer on the side where I have the slugga.

Blades is out for slapping humies in da face, an slicing der face clean off da skull. Anyting in da grip gets tenderized right proppa by da blunt bits, an cooked good en black by da burna.
Mostly done, just need to file a couple of things down and add some greenstuff to correct stuff I messed up. Overall I'm surprised with what I managed to do as my only experience in stuff like this was cutting Crisis suits legs and repositioning them.
Sorry for the bad pictures but all I have is my phone camera.
For scale, the klaw is about half a centimeter taller than a marine on a base
I think I'll use that arm that comes with a huge choppa on the warbiker sprues. It's as large as the shoota arm of the warboss, I'll cut it a bit before the elbow and attach it there, it sort of ends up looking like a glove with that wide "base" which is sort of what I wanted, and the angle is pretty nice.
If the arm looks too wimpy I'll probably try to add some greenstuff to it.
No warboss should leave home without one of these, it's three weapons in one so you always have a free hand to smack any cowardly git that tries to run from a proppa fight! Buy now!
(this convertion has created a monster, now every time I look at one of my other unfinished non-ork models I start thinking how I could make it proppa orky...)
This is my most recent attempt at fixing my Eldar list. I have yet to play test it, please critique. It's kind of an Iyanden/Alaitoc hybrid I suppose.

jesus christ that thing is horrifying. I don't think i'd be able to play against someone using that because i'd spend every single turn trying to kill it without regard to mission objectives, just to get it off the table.

oh man I wonder if that game is as impossible to read as Confrontation, the OTHER french game with insanely cool minis and rules written in poop on an asylum wall...

Man, I'd drop the either the harlequins or the wraithguard - probably the harlequins, as cool as they are - and spend the points on either some howling banshees or some more basic troops. This army will bite you in the ass if you have to play an objective game with it.

Maybe spin those blades around so the sharp side faces inwards?

And thus the cycle begins. By the time it's over, he will have converted the entire model totally.
just the right size
Edit: fuuuuuuuuuuuck!!
the squig arm is so annoying to glue! (and I pinned it the best I could)

I use the lip of another paint pot top to hold the lid of the new pots down while I use them.

WOW! I need to get me one of those! Or is that a custom job? Still amazing.
All the best models are nurgle models.

Well the problem was I ended up opening it so violently that the fucking thing jumped out of my hand. Not happy.
Shoulda used a choppa imo.
You have put such ideas into my head...
I just bought my last packs of Grey Knights, so I finally (FINALLY) have a full 1500 point army now!
Here it is! (in list form)

So it was less of a "damn cap stay open" moment, and more of a "HULK SMASH" moment?
Jesus, I need to get off my lazy ass and take pictures of the Steel Legion I've finished.

I chose to visualize this...
