OXM Review - 8.5/10

Official XBox Magazine put out their review of PAA in the June issue. I picked up yesterday.

They give the game an 8.5

Some Points they make:
- Retail quality production value
- More like a retail game with digital distribution, not a typical XBLA game
- Writing is the game's strongest suit
- Compared to classic LucasArts adventure games
- Average arcade users might freak out at the price
- It is worth the price

The only negative they list is that the game doesn't always highlight what you are trying to select easily.

Also, of course, they mention in the footer under some screenshots that there's an achievement to kill a foe with an attack from your supporting character, which will be fun with Thomas Kemper, dealing just 1hp of damage.

Since it has been a point of contention in reviews before, they mention the combat in a descriptive form in one paragraph without really saying too much about it, but say in another screenshot caption that it "is deep enough to be interesting without getting too repetitive".

    This raises an interesting thought (which will show in due time of course, I'm just curious right now);
What achievements will be up for grabs on the Xbox version?
I personally don't own such a machine, I'm just, as stated, curious beyond limits.

From what I understand, it's coming out on PC and XBLA at the same time.

Check out some of the videos posted earlier, you'll see how it works. There are callable special characters like Annarchy and Thomas Kemper (one more who hasn't been revealed yet). You can activate them to do a special attack.

Interesting that they seemed to like the combat system. Perhaps the months work on it paid dividends?

You don't need to have a gold subscription to buy a game on XBLA right?

No you don't. You can access almost anything with Silver.
