I forgot all about this one. I'll have to see how much I can find it for used. I played the hell out of the demo and loved it.
EB's got it for $5 used up here. Can't imagine GameStop or whatever in the states would be more expensive.
On the topic of the first one, what drove me nuts was how slow the game seemed. It might have just been the first film but everything was slow. The "press the X button harder to go faster" shit drove me nuts. The first film in Ignition was completely awesome. Lava everywhere, explosions, catching on fire, big jumps, just lots of fast paced action. That's the way to do it.

I'm seeing $20, $18 used. :? Anyone know where to get this cheap in the States?

Yup, I'm seeing it for the same locally.
I got mine for $11 shipped (used) from Amazon. It's probably around $15 through GameFly's used store, too.
Stunt Island wasn't a Lucasarts game, I think it was actually a Disney game, or at least licensed by them.
God, last time I played that was 8 and it was on a computer with Windows 3.1 and a 5 and 1/4 inch floppy drive. I wasn't very good at it, seeing as how I had the coordination of a dying mongoose and only a loose understanding of the controls. But I loved bombing the city with eggs from a duck. Or flying a meteor with perfect precision into the Golden gate bridge.
In this game you do stunts in cars and on motorcycles. You can fluff a stunt a bunch if you do a lot of other stunts like driving close to things and wheelies. The more best you are at stunting the more stars you get.
It is more best than the first game because it is less frustrating and you can improvise more and do more better stunts.
I see what you did there...with all those mores, awesome.
How does the ps2 version hold up? Is it worthy on it's own, is it clearly a downport (like Just Cause) or a well-meaning downport (like Test Drive Unlimited)?
Was this one as infuriating as the first one? Holy shit did I lust for blood when I played it for the first time.
No where near as bad as the first one. The first one had insane load times, a director that would tell you to hit boxes after you pass them, and {although this was probably just me} the "hit the nitro button" when you reach a jump at the end, but I clearly remember it not telling me what the nitro button was. I couldn't find anything that listed the controls or edit the controls in game, which bothered me a lot too.

I played the demo of the first and hated the shit out of it. The adverts in this one require you to do the run perfectly, and they're fun because they're short and not the main focus of the game.
The levels I don't like are the really long ones. They're just tedious and getting five stars requires too much luck. The last hillbilly level can suck a fuck.
What's the feedback like in this one? Besides the ridiculous load times of the first game, the other thing that frustrated me was how little feedback it gave you as to why you failed a particular stunt - you'd do basically what the arrows suggested you do but still rack up enough fails to loose the level with no clear indication of what went wrong.
So, is it still basically a guessing game where you might as well just ignore the onscreen directions for all they're worth or is it actually possible to divine what the fuck the developers hoped you'd do this time around?
If you do the stunt in the box it almost always allows it, so I guess that's not a problem. You can also miss up to five stunts in every course.
The bond levels suck balls.
Actually, the 'Bond' levels in Ignition are actually pretty cool. Once you get the hang of it... The ice scenes? They're so easy to string stunts together by constantly sliding around.
If it's a motorcycle stunt? Wheelie between required stunts? Okay!
It's an easier game to complete than the original and the director is less of a complete prick when you make a mistake. But it's more challenging than the first one, because if you're trying to 5 star a scene you have to string the whole stunt together. They really did learn from the complaints about the original. It's a shame there will likely be no more in the series.
This game is pretty fun. I played the demo and thought that the game would be frustrating. But it is not at all. Well, not in the bad way. Not where I get frustrated at the game just my inability to function.
My only problem was not knowing what the shit I was doing for the first few levels. But once that got sorted out it made me appreciate the simplicity of getting into this game. It's a great pick up and play, no bullshit kind of game.
Anyway, I have only gotten to the third movie and I am wondering about ranking. Does a star gained equal moving up a single place in the rankings? I looked through the manual but I couldn't find anything.

Roughly. Don't worry too much about it. If you average 3-4 stars for all movies and shows, you should reach the number one ranking pretty easily.

Nice.
I'm actually better at this game when drunk. It may prevent me from thinking too much and truly going from stunt to stunt than worrying too much about what comes next.

I got my copy yesterday, and it's pretty sweet. My only concern is that the stunt coordinator's voice is going to start narrating my life.

Yeah after renting this months ago and liking it, I instantly bought it when I saw it for $10 bucks at Blockbuster. Not even a moment hesitation, I love this kind of game, great for the compulsive perfectionist replay whore in al of us.

See, replaying usually annoys me. I get so annoyed when I screw up and have to start all over. But the segments are so short it doesn't bother me. In fact, it makes me want to keep doing them to get a better score (or at least a more seamless replay.)
The only replays that bothered me were one of the last hillibilly missions which was far too long and chance based, and the james bond mission with the falling cliffs at the end, because again it was too long, too random and they put the hardest bit at the end.

On that note, fuck ice. Fuck ice in its cold, metaphorical ass.
Yeah, it's pretty picky. But the reload times are super nice and if they were any slower, it would make the game just about unplayable and a waste of time.
I'm on the last movie right now and it's a butt kicker. I still have the commercial stuff to do.
Just wanted to chime in and agree that this game kicks ass. It's so cheap, everyone just go buy it. I was obsessed with it for weeks. Much better than the first one, sad there won't be anymore:(

Got this today, the only thing about this game that appeals to me is the addicting need to complete it. The challenge is just fighting through the games bullshit for me (THAT SO WAS A 180 YOU FUCK!).
Plus, me and my dad takes turns on it and it's great fun.
I picked this up tonight as well, I got it new for C$9.99 at a Blockbuster, so that might be a good place to look for someone trying to track it down on the cheap.
When it first came out there was no description of what it contained, I couldn't find anything about it online, and it cost $10. Since then I forgot all about it.
Bumping to ask how in hell you're supposed to beat the "Night Avenger" car commercial. I nail that shit but it says "RESHOOT -- Too Many Strikes" before I even get to the bit where I trigger the second nitro. Is this some horrible glitch?
Speaking of stuntmanish games, did anyone play that Stunt Island game for the PC years ago. I think it was a lucasarts game.
Stunt Island was awesome. Of course, only ten people ever played it since it came out back before anyone owned or had heard of a PC.
It was published by Disney.
I really loved that game. Smooth, plain polys and a huge variety of vehicles and missions. Too bad I lost the manual and it has that terrible "look up this statistic on this vehicle in the manual' copy protection.
You only get one chance with commercials unless you turn on training, or whatever it is called.
So you might have beaten it in training mode but it won't count as being cleared. Same thing with the one off stunts. I don't think I ever did beat the dirt bike explosion on ice thing.

Also, you do some pretty awesome/ridiculous shit in this game. Definitely try it out if you haven't.

That shit was Satanic.
Especially compared to the current price of tea and crumpets.

I'll probably never play it online either.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure commercials function just like movies. I believe I've messed up occasionally.
