I've heard that Brady Quinn isn't very well liked by most of his team mates. At least, that's what's been said on the radio around here by people with ties to Notre Dame. I don't know what that says about his potential NFL success but I would think it would be tough to lead a group of men who hate your ass.

Most overrated college football franchise of all time. I've said it before and I'll say it again: ND is the Yankees of College Football, only without the constant hardware to show for it.
And they now hold the record for the school with the most consecutive bowl losses.
Overrated? Hell yes.

From what I saw of Quinn, he isn't too good at handling pressure and audibles. It might have been ND's first drive when he passed to a reciever on the left, and his target wasn't even looking for the ball. He made bad choices in his 2 interceptions and overall couldn't adjust to LSU's rushing/coverage. Plus he might have scrambled twice? Just doesn't read defenses well.

Sounds like the second incarnation of Heath Schuler to me. Maybe the Redskins will get this one too.

There is no way in hell the redskins are going to draft another QB. If anything, I see them going for Defensive or Offensive lineman... of course, they're stupid and will probably stack up QBs and WRs again and then go wild on older free agents well past their prime.

Why not? Doesn't Dan Snyder still own the team? That guy's like Jerry Jones' retarded little brother. He's got his hands in everything and doesn't know what the fuck he's doing.

yeah, Snyder still puts his hands in the honeypot, but Gibbs has reeled him in a bit in the last 2 years... personel decisions go through the GMs office now (which Gibbs runs) so Snyder doesn't exactly buy the groceries without first being told what is being cooked.

Not many 21 year olds do. Also, that pass you speak of was a fade route. He's supposed to look for the ball as soon as he's in position. That was 83's fault (I'm not looking up the spelling of his name). You can't wait till you are in the corner of the endzone to look for the ball on a fad route. By the time you'll find it you'll run out of bounds.
Woot, indeed. Roll Tide! He had a great press conference yesterday, much better than Shula's "deer in headlights" stare he gave at his introduction. If nothing else, I think we have a solid coaching staff in the works now.
Yeah BSU probably would have been football's version of George Mason and yes I do agree that 1-A college football does need a playoff system but fuck if Florida didn't just beat the holy shit out of what looked like the biggest, baddest team in the game tonight. I really thought OSU was just gonna be too good on offense to lose this game and they finished the game with less than 90 yards of total offense. Kudos to the Gator offense for playing as well as they did but this was all about their defense going nuts tonight. Troy Smith couldn't do shit without getting beaten down in the process.
In short: They got knocked the fuck out, man.

All that was proven last night is that Troy Smith is worthless without Ted Ginn Jr. A playoff would be nice, but I have a feeling that Ohio, Florida and BSU never would have made it to the final round. Playoffs are LOTS of football, and it would have certainly changed the outcome of the top 10 rankings.
That said... WOO HOO Penn State broke the top 25!

All it took was Poppa Joe getting his knee turned back the wrong way for his team to rally.
I was so glad to see Florida just embarass them, especially after all the talk about how Ohio St. was an easy pick for #1 and Florida was a distant second and had no business being there.
Not just a win, a blowout. Ohio St. scored once. (There was blatant holding on that first kick return)
Now people might see ole Mr. Heisman can't handle real defensive pressure well.

First off, that was the worst bowl game I think I have ever watched. Worst of this post season no doubt.
Second, who was the asshole on the kick return team that tackled Ted Ginn in the endzone after his return? I think that's how he got injured.
Lastly, Slung, I don't think you understand what an offensive line is and/or what it does. Smith's protection was pathetic. Most of those sacks were by untouched defensive ends. He didn't play a good game but no quarterback would have been able to get comfortable and develop a rhythm in that situation.
EDIT: Looks like I have to add you to that comment to, Shimmy.
Yeah he certainly didn't have much protection, but even when he was on the run he didn't make the best decisions. There were many times he was being chased and was out of the pocket and could have easily thrown the ball away, but he either took a sack, 7 yds behind the line or threw the ball into coverage.

Ohio never adjusted to Florida Zone Blitzes because they had no speedy reciever (as in Teddy boy) for dump offs or quick outs. They stuck with 7 step zone looks, which given their handicap (again lack of Teddy) was pretty fucking stupid.
You can call me dumb, you can try to trump yourself up (be sure to mention how you won the FF league again, as that seems to be the basis for your football expertise), but I watched the game and I saw what Ohio did wrong. They didn't make a single adjustment to their game after 1) Losing their best receiver (and fastest player) and 2) they didn't change their base offense after Florida started blitzing on every play.
Tressel outcoached? Maybe. Too much dependence on an injured player? Perhaps. The lines fault? No.
come on, who the fuck forces your QB to take a 7 step drop if the defense is blitzing on every god damn down?

Most of those sacks weren't even the result blitzes or stunts. They were just 4 man rushes manhandling the o-line. As for Ginn, since when was he the quick out receiver? Gonzales is the possession receiver and about the only guy on the field for either team that is noticeably faster than Gonzales if Ginn. He still runs a fucking 4.3 for Christ's sake.
Again, I am not saying Troy Smith had a good game. But the o-line couldn't protect him or help in establishing a run game (which most people don't notice has been essential to OSU's victories). The defense didn't wake up until the second half when it was already too late. I don't think it's fair to hang so much on the quarterback like that. It took effort from entire team to play that badly.
I could not believe the defense's first half performance. Tim Tebow is in the shotgun. He is going to run, that's all he fucking does, and the linebackers stay back in zone coverage. That motherfucker got at least 8 yards on every quarterback draw.
You're right, and the truth of the matter is, if you want to get to Florida you must apply pressure with the blitz. I think I saw one blitz from OSU all night, if that. You can't allow a team with that kind of speed and that many offensive weapons just dump the ball off at will in the middle of a pathetically week zone coverage (and with only 3 men rushing the ball sometimes!)
It looked to me like a lot of the sacks Florida got were caused by great coverage. Smith didn't have anywhere to go with the ball and instead of throwing it away, he tried to make a play with his legs. Florida's defensive line was just way too quick for him to do that. How many times was he run down from behind while trying to make a run for it? I saw at least two or three times.

I don't think Butters knows what a zone blitz is, but Florida was doing them from Quarter 1 until the whistle at the end of the game.
If that were true none of their defensive ends would have gotten any sacks as they are typically dropped back into the flats in a zone blitz.
I would agree that OSU did wait too long to start rushing the passer but I still cannot believe how slow the linebackers were to converge on those draw plays. Especially when Florida would run them out of the same formations and in the same situations. It was like they arrived two hours late to the game.
