Get a job behind a bar or something easy like that. At least while you consider the schooling option you will have a job to earn some cashmoney and get you out of you rut.
Also you can hit on chicks in a bar.

It's nice how the guy comes in here and says he wants to change things around, yet people just shit on him with bitterness.
Shibby, I've known some really smart kids who just didn't want to do the usual trudge through college. My neighbor for instance is going to a tech school in the area to become work on cars. He's not going down the usual mechanic path, but he still gets to do a lot of hands on things.
Good luck with it
If the effort is really going to be made then I applaud him. But the thing is you get from a community what you put into it.
Shibby's output has been questionable at best, which means on a whole, that's what he's going to be greeted with.
How can you possibly have been unemployed for four months.
Seriously, that is re-Goddamn-diculous.
I've been unemployed for two or three now
But most of that was just I didn't feel like trying to find a job right before I left for school
Change of plans means whoops time to find a full time job

All kidding aside, college does blow. It's more about putting in your time and getting a baseline of knowlege than actual job skills. At least 3/4 if not more of my job skills I've learned on the job. College was just a foot in the door.
If you want to change things around, try a tech school. There's always a need for electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and other skills. It's work, but it's honest work that pays well. When my science career goes down the shitter, I plan on using my fork lift certification to get paid. Maybe even my welding credits.
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself.

I'm taking at least a semester, and probably a year, to get my shit together
I'm going to work full time and take a couple classes at the local CC this fall

shibby i don't know you so i don't know of all the evils you have committed so i am going to naive-ly give you some advice
if you play a lot of video games, and waste all your money on them, have you considered taking one of the billion and one game design courses offered at pretty much every community college/private institution?
they get paid pretty good in my company and seem to have a pretty sweet gig
then again, everyone in this company has a sweet gig
if you're computer savvy you could also take a community college programming course
or if you've really got some drive and motivation, computer sciences or computer engineering at university. 4 years though.

I didn't feel bad about it until recently
Now I want a job because I'm sick of being poor and unemployed
And with no schooling, my options are fairly limited in this town

i quit my job but then reconsidered when i realized how depressed this area is
I had a job, left it and was unemployed for 4 months before I got a new gig. It's possible.
Thanks, Mom. Thanks, Dad.
i know, right
I love my parents. The help they give me is just a ridiculous bonus. Also, I've always seen it as an understanding that they take care of my brother, sister, and myself when we're young and we'll all take care of them like crazy when they get old and batshit insane.

You don't have to go to college to get a great job, tradesmen (contractor, electrician, welder, etc) and other specialized technicians get paid very well after between 12-18 months of training. Some of those guys go on to own their own business, others get degrees and go on to something else.
