Post-Pre PAX Monthly Covergence!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the circus! Ok, maybe its not a circus, but we might go to the zoo!

As promised, this here is a thread designed to arrange monthly conjunctions, from now until PAX '09.

Yes, there is a thread for random "I feel like going to lunch, anyone want to go" things, and thats fine! This thread will be different, and a tad more organized. What I want to do here, is have things planned, about once a month, all the way until PAX.

As a farther note:
Snickers wrote: »
Well, I would be willing to help some with things outside of the Puget Sound area, but it would require more local organization. I'm willing to use my OP for Convergences in any locale!

First thing to do, is get suggestions from you, the community! Give me some options, as for where we should go? Should it be on the same day every month, or different days, depending on the month? Understandably not everyone will be able to make it to every Conclave, including me, but thats fine.

So suggest away! Discuss! Mingle! Orgy! But please try to keep the flaming to a minimum. I will update this post at regular intervals, so keep an eye out!

Current location suggestions: Zoo, Gameworks, Science Center, Greenlake, Orcas island, Ballard, Whidbey island, an Orgy, Bowling and a movie at Lincoln Square in Bellevue, Tillamook Cheese Factory in Portland, brewery tours and wine tasting, Fort Casey.

Current date/time suggestions: The same time every month. Such as the last Sunday or Saturday of every month, adjusted for holidays. Wednesday the 24th was mentioned, as that is Haikufrenzy's birthday.

    SCORE!

Now that that's taken care of...It might be easier just to do the same day. Like last Sunday of the month or something. Adjust for holidays.

Also, the zoo is awesome. So is Gameworks. And the Science Center. And Greenlake before it gets too cold.

I assume this will take place in Seattle? That makes most sense, though I dunno if it's worth the inconvenience for me...

I also like doing it on the same day each month. I'm regular like that. It's when I'm at my sexual prime.

Also Orca's Island. Catch a ferry from Anacortes. BEAUTIFUL. Not that most of you would be as interested...?

Maybe we can try doing things in a semi-wide area. For instance, I live in Everett, and am more then willing to travel to the Seattle area to meet up, but maybe we could do gatherings in non-Seattle areas as well. Just a thought. XD

I do support the idea of the zoo, science center, and gameworks. All great! Though if we meet at Gameworks, we (by we I mean me) might look across the corner at the WSCTC and wonder where the hell PAX is!

yeah... I can't really go to Gameworks anymore during the year, I end up standing at the windows and staring longingly towards the WSCTC. The arcade noises slowly fade and from somewhere I can hear a sad song (that I think might be My Belruel).

Ah, I'm just kidding... actually I have an unnatural addition to that Tycho drum game.

I would love to have some people willing to get together for board games at a pub or something of the sort. I know most PAX people are more the video game type, but there's got to be at least a few analog gamers.

Tillamook Cheese Factory sounds awesome for a Portland meet up but 245 miles from Seattle is a touch far. Although I do love me some cheese.

For the 21+ers, how about some brew tours? The Red Hook brewery has a great tour, and there are several other places around king county.

    Same goes for wine tasting.

    We could do multiple events.

Half my department is addicted to Blokus. There is always a game going on at lunch, sometimes two. Not the giant version though.

Kinda ridiculous sometimes...a week or so ago they were all watching Blokus strategy videos online. I just play...and usually lose.

Should we have a google or yahoo group for this? It might make event management a little easier.

And since the first meeting is the first saturday of Sept, maybe the 1st Saturday of the month is defacto scheduled.

OK, we have some awesome ideas going around.

I think first order of business: Pick a day. Whichever is most popular will be what we use. Example: "I would prefer the last Sunday of every month". That way there will be no bickering later down the road trying to figure it out day by day month by month. We will know exactly when the meetings are.

Second order of business: Snickers will put together the list of things and we can plan or vote or whatever from there. Then we can decide what would be most feasible/most fun depending on what we want to do. So, if we want to have bar and board game night, we can pick a venue based on that.

    Good, yes?
