Is the eurobeat as cheesy as ever?

Yeah, I really thought it was actually better music in 4th Stage, but they're going a direction not-that-one with the soundtrack in Battle Stage 2.

Well 4th Stage only had maybe 4 or 5 really good tracks.

Whereas the entire rest of Initial D has only 4 or 5 tracks that I can really like.

Edit: Ryosuke seems to consistently get good tracks. Black Out and Station to Station are fun for GT4.

Gundam Wing would be perfect if none of the characters ever talked, and if all of the scenes where people just stand around talking about peace and ideals were completely removed.

Don't do this. Zechs is seriously only a step away from being as bad as Rau la Cruset. he's basically the second worst char.

instead, go watch GUNDAM X (the Gundams series that was produced after Gundam Wing.) if you havent allready

As much as I hate Gundam Wing, I thought Dorothy was the most interesting character. I liked how she teased and challenged Relena in a battle of ideas. That was probably the only enjoyable part of Wing for me. I had to turn it off when Dorothy's swan song was a mid-space rapier fight with the gay blonde boy.

If there's someone who can read moonspeak, please click the spoiler below, need some help confirming something:
Are either of the following correct?

    Romanji: Aku Soku Zan
    Kanji: 悪 即 斬
    Katakana: ア ク ソ ク ザ ン

    English: Death before Defeat
    Kanji: 敗北の前の死
    Katakana: ハイバクノマエノシ

Any help is much appreciated, it's for a friend's tattoo but h/a is more interested in asking "why?" than answering.

So who was it that was watching Eureka 7 for the first time, again? Where are you now? Did you hit 26 yet? On a scale of awesome to awesome, how awesome was it?

I think 「悪即斬」 would be 「あくめいぼさいと」, "aku meibo saito". Googling it returns a whole bunch of fansite hits; is your friend really going to get an anime/manga tattoo? Any way you can talk him out of it?

Your reading of the first set of Kanji was correct, on-yomi wise at least, but I have no idea if there is a meaning in their on-yomi, though I know what their kun-yomi are and what they mean individually (evil, instantly, and murder respectively). As for the next one, I think it's right, except for the kana of the second kanji, which is「ぼく」instead of 「ばく」. I'm not sure the second particle should be 「の」 though. I think it should be 「に」 since it describes a destination "before death". But then I'm not even sure if 「前」can even be used as "before" in a temporal sense. Sorry if I'm not much help, I'm just a one year Japanese language student and I wanted to practice. Someone more knowledgeable should school me in the ways of moonspeak.

And yeah, I'm the one who was watching Eureka 7 for the first time. I'm at Episode 29 now, and yeah Episode 26 was super awesome and touching. Seriously, when
    Renton and Eureka reunited

I was smiling the entire time. It's nice to see Eureka opening up more and more to Renton now. It's weird that a romance story gets me like this but there you go. It's weird how it somehow fits in some dark elements though, like the whole
Eureka massacring the Voderak, or Renton going berserk, or Ray turning Charles into a bomb, and getting blown the fuck up herself, but not before they show us her severed arm.

I dunno, it's sort of jarring and unsettling, especially in a series that has a very innocent romance thing going on.

It can. 'mae ni' and 'ato de' are used often in describing the order of events.

And i had the exact same thoughts about the 2nd particle in the 2nd one. 'Mae' is most often followed by 'ni', not 'no'.

"Saito [Hajime] has no compassion or mercy for his enemies. He lives by the Shinsengumi code "Aku Soku Zan" (悪即斬 -literally "Slay Evil Immediately", but more poetically rendered as "Swift Death To Evil")."

I thought Aku Soku Zan sounded familiar... (your friend a Ruroken fan much?)

Janin, where are you getting the reading Aku Meibo Saitou from? If Soku (instantly) was more than a straight Kanji wouldn't it be Sokkoku?

I've watched the whole series twice through so far, and it stays just as amazing. I really don't want to give anything away, but regarding the odd balance between heartwarming and cruelty, you ain't seen nothing yet.

That would mean Death before Defeat not in the sense of 'I'll accept death before defeat' but just in the sense of death happening before defeat - e.g. death then defeat. Actually it's more like 'The Death that comes before Defeat'.

I'm pretty sure the writer of the novels is holding out for more money, and as a consequence, the media conglomerate won't publish his next book. We get Haruhi 2 when he runs out of cash.
