Just a random question, why did the US Starcraft competitive scene not really take off like Koreas did? I know it still exists but it really isn't as big as it should be here.
Also I will be in Korea when Starcraft comes out, will that be a national holiday I can look forward too? Also what sort of Korean Starcraft merchandise can I expect to find? Seriously though, it will be crazy there.

Lots of cheap cheap internet cafes popping up, economy was right, SC was the right game, different culture, a bit of luck and a bunch of people who took some big risks.
Basically it was a huge fluke. Everything was in the right place at the right time.

To be fair though, the korean economy crashed again and the government promised insane internet capabilities in turn, things could align again for the same circumstances as ten years ago!

Yeah, Tribes was a cesspit of mods. And I couldn't find a vanilla Tribes 2 server for the LIFE of me. It seems nobody wanted to play the original game - everyone far preferred the games with instant-hit thermonuclear weapons and shit.
