It's like a buddy cop movie with Danny Glover and Mel Gibson. You know, where Danny shrinks Mel and carries him around in his pocket as a keychain.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
He was pretty good before people on the internet who aren't comic fans found him and kept posting the same three pages from scans daily in every goddamn thread.
I think Deadpool has his moments... but if the OP is going into this thinking he's like, comedy gold... he's gonna be sorely disappointed. Actually, both him and Spider-man can be freaking annoying at times...

Er... they often write them to be annoying. In everybook but his own, Peter is written as telling really bad jokes that only annoy his peers. The Avengers used to hate him before he joined up.

I never thought of it as annoying, I always just thought it was the residual effect of a high-school kid forced to fight crazy people every night and still go to school, hold a job, and get a girlfriend. Its his coping mechanism.

And it annoys the shit out of other Superheroes. I think Wolverine sliced him once for getting on his nerves.

Yeah... but when it starts to annoy the reader... then you might have gone too far.

One of the funniest comic moments in my recent memory was in Ultimate Spider-man when he first confronted the kingpin and started blurting out the cheesy fat jokes.

I have a feeling that everyone bashing on Deadpool never actually read the stuff Joe Kelly did with him, where he was portrayed as both sympathetic and dangerous from time to time. Nicieza's gone a bit too far off into the wacky side of things, but he still portrays the character as having some depth and not just being, "LOL SHOOT HERCULES IN FACE AND KICK CAP IN THE CROTCH HARHAR!!!" Hell, Deadpool's managed to come across as one of the most sympathetic figures in the entire Civil War right now.

At the very least he appears to be the most rational. At least he actually thought about his position... unlike everyone else who just seemed to appear at their conclusion.

The reasons I'm a Deadpool fan can be traced entirely to the T-Ray storyline in his ongoing series. If anything that's what portrays him as having actual depth beyond being a dumping ground for jokes and fourth wall humor. A lot of that has been in C&D as well (re: the Intercourse issue).
Honestly for people to come into this thread and go "Fuck I hate fucking Deadpool stupid fucking thread" etc. kind of defeats what this board is about, which is to talk about, you know, things that you like.
If I wanted to see a thread composed of an OP talking about a subject and then several people bitching about it, I'd go to Newsarama.

I liked Deadpool when he was in the Superman Batman Annual
Someone said the first few Cable and Deadpool books are getting reprinted? Any idea when that's happening? I started with book 3, and it kind of confused me. I'm not reading on until I can get the first two trades, which are hard to find at this point.
By popular demand, these Cable and Deadpool trades are back in-stock so place your orders now!
AUG041865 CABLE & DEADPOOL VOL. 1: IF LOOKS COULD KILL TPB…$14.99 (ISBN: 0-7851-1374-6)
FEB051953 CABLE & DEADPOOL VOL. 2: THE BURNT OFFERING TPB…$14.99 (ISBN: 0-7851-1571-4)
AUG051979 CABLE & DEADPOOL VOL. 3: THE HUMAN RACE TPB…$14.99 (ISBN: 0-7851-1763-6)
JAN062096 CABLE & DEADPOOL VOL. 4: BOSOM BUDDIES TPB…$14.99 (ISBN: 0-7851-1869-1)

I have a feeling that a lot of people who like him haven't read that stuff, and just like that he's zany.
I will say that I read the Civil War tie-ins for C&DP, and I was a fan of Wade's 'the worst thing about playing the idiot is when you start to believe it' line.
I generally am not into Fabian, but he has moments. Like the House of M Thunderbolts issue, which may be one of the best Genis-Vell stories.

Yeah, but is there anything necessarily wrong with that?

I try to avoid Joe Kelly, ever since his stint on Superman; Emperor Joker and Zod and a rocket-guy with pants that never gets explained properly? Pooh.
Saw we have a Deadpool thread so I figured I'd save myself the trouble of making a new one and just post here. An online friend of mine wasn't impressed when I pointed out that Slapstick and Rage would be showing up in the pages of The Initiative, feeling that Slapstick was lame. I counter-argued that there was nothing wrong with Slapstick and that he back then in his mini-series was what Deadpool is now in C&D though less lethal.
...now after thinking about it, I wanna see a Slapstick Vs Deadpool meeting. Is that wrong?
My problem with C&D is that Fabian tends to go really, really, really obvious with Deadpool's jokes, but he's also capable of being really subtle with him, but there aren't enough moments like that and it drives me nuts
I mean there's also the thing with Cable being lame

I was always confused by that. I mean I know Deadpool needs a straight man to balance out his wackiness, but Cable? Fucking Cable. Who gives a shit about Cable in the first place? In fact I bet the only reason they stuck Deadpool in with Cable is to boost sales of Cable's book.
Hey, I like Cable. He had his good moments in his solo series. Seriouslly wish X-Man would return though. I mean, even in Exiles. He was probably the only cool thing to come out of the AoA story.
