The onslaught continues!
The NDS gets great games including, finally, sequel to the NES classic Tecmo Bowl, as
Tecmo Bowl Kickoff arrives, finally! The NDS also sees a release of the classic PC game
Populous, sort of the grandaddy of "god games." Next in the good lineup of NDS games, is
Trackmania DS, what looks to be possibly a fantastic DS version of the much beloved arcadey racing series Trackmania, except with a bunch of cool additional modes. Rounding out this great week for the NDS is
Call of Duty World at War; while the console versions usually take the spotlight, n-Space's COD4 game for Nintendo DS remains to be one of the best FPS games on the system, and n-Space looks to continue that tradition with this entry.
The HD systems finally get the much-anticipated first person action/platforming game
Mirror's Edge; will it live up to the hype? Will it play as good as it looks?
The HD consoles also get
Call of Duty World at War, the newest entry of the series, this iteration being taken back to WWII rather than modern times; developed by treyarch. Will CoD WaW live up to the series' name, or will Noah Heller live up to the title Senior Super Douche?
Xbox360 gets 2 sure-to-be-good games this week as well, including
Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, a sort of combination platforming and customizable racing game. It also gets
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, shortly after its PC brethren - all hail the return of awesome FMV in games!
The PC also gets a new
World of Warcraft expansion, the Wrath of the Lich King. Surely it will only help in maintaining Blizzard's goal to [strike]take over the world[/strike] expand its 10M+ player base..
Finally, the Wii manages to pull in what will hopefully be a great game this week, despite an otherwise lackluster Holiday 08. First is the RPG known as
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, latest Namco game in the Tales series. Takes place 2 years after the first Tales of Symphonia game; previews have been good. The Wii also gets
FaceBreaker KO Party, which will hopefully be more Punchout-esque (read: fun) rather than the pitiful other versions; it also gets
Lightsaber Duels, which may be fun and may turn out horrible, who knows. Finally, it too gets
COD World at War - so hopefully Treyarch does as good a job with this version as they did with the Wii version of COD3, which was surprisingly good, especially in the controls department.
Everybody gets some form of a WWE wrestling game; I mention it because the reviews have all around been pretty good so far.
When will the wallet rape end?!?!?!

I been loving Mirror Edge just from the demo, but if 1up is to be believed, the game is quite short(portal lenght apparently), which is not enough to get my money.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
Might check out Symphonia because my Wii is very lonely (other than SMRPG).
I'd just like to say that in a period of approximately 2-3 months I have purchased more video games on the day of or week following their release than the rest of my life combined. (Mercs 2, FIFA09, Fable II, Fallout 3, BK:N&B, Gears2)
PSN/XBL: dragoniemx
Mirror's Edge is insta-bought.
I WILL NOT BE DOING 3DS FOR NWC THREAD. SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO TAKE OVER.

Guess I'll see what reviews have to say.
What??!
I show 11/11 for 360 and PS3, but 1/6 for PC...!? (list edited for the fix)
Why'd they do this?

You are correct sir. Codes for pre-orders supposedly emailed on Tuesday.
Edit: Or "Within 5 business days" according to my Amazon pre-order, but that's probably a legal-cover-our-ass statement. Oh and you can still pre-order I think. You get B-K for free, two weeks early. As far as I'm concerned, there's no better pre-order bonus than another game
PSN/XBL: dragoniemx
Too true and its an even better deal when you consider that the game already has 20$ slashed off its price, i personally didn't know about how Amazon pre-orders worked, i just went with brick and mortar and pre-ordered at the local game stop and picked up my code card when i went in to get gears of war 2.
As far as the rest, Mirror's Edge will have to wait till January... when I can get it for my PC...
COD WaW proper is a maybe right now, still. I don't want to get sick of WWII shooters. Again.

Yeah, hi there, threadmaker. Is Trackmania DS coming out this week in North America, or is this a worldwide release thread? I've only heard of Europe getting Trackmania DS sometime this month if it's not out already, but all I can find is TBA for everywhere else. If this is for NA, how do you know?

This is an NA-focused weekly thread, because everything gets all confused if I start putting in all the NA dates and all the other region dates. It would be madness, chaos I tell you!
Now that you mention it.... I"m not 100% sure Trackmania will come out this week. It's supposed to, but most places still show TBA...
sometimes release dates get shoved around, even at the last minute.
The date I have is the 14th. So it may only ship that date and be available on the weekend or maybe monday.. if all goes well..

Mirrors Edge is like 6 hours long, and its an EA game. It would be wise to rent or wait for price drops.
And since this is as good of a place as any, Dragon Quest 4 DS is only sale today only at Amazon for $20 until they run out.
Eh? So?
PSN/XBL: dragoniemx
Still playing Fable 2, Gears of war 2 and Fallout 3. Banjo is gonna be the last game I buy before Chrono Trigger.
Also, it's not really 6 hours of entertainment. The demo is about 3 minutes long yet I've still managed to play it for probably approaching an hour and a half over the course of a week.
Though for me 6 hours is about as long as I like a game to run for
PSN: SirGrinchX
Oculus Rift: Sir_Grinch
It may end up being 6 hours long in the way of having everything figured out in the game. Imagine those moments where people have to figure out where to go from where they stand (or are moving).
Unless that six hours includes that. Which I would say is kinda disappointing.
No!!!!! (I just used all my money up on a Live Gold card & Banjo-Kazooie preorder)
Hopefully an equally good sale shows up later when I have some money because I really want DQ4DS but I'm a little relunctant to spend $40 on a game I've already beaten before.
Anyway, just Banjo-Kazooie for me, but from the looks of the demo, there's a ton of gameplay stuffed in its $40 shell and that's not even considering the free XBLA download. I'm starting to think that between Banjo-Kazooie this month, Persona 4 next month, my recently obtained copies of The World Ends With You & Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, and my brand new Live Gold card (used for Netflix & Civilization Revolution online matches) that I'm pretty much set for gaming for a long time and I should save my money and pick up all those other great games later when the prices are down.

EA really aren't very different from other publishers. If the game sells well you won't see any price drops for a while and if it does, you will.
Anyway, I've already pre-ordered Mirror's Edge and I'm looking forward to it. The '6 hours' thing is being over exaggerated. Matt at 1UP said it took six hours to play through single player mostly because he rushed straight through the first couple of chapters (since he'd already played them before) and it doesn't include any of the time trials either.
I don't know how I'm going to fit it in between work, Valkyria Chronicles, LittleBigPlanet and Prof Layton (which I just bought yesterday) but I guess I'll have to find a way.
Alternatively, single player games on the HD systems dont hold their value well, particularly with 360.
With all the games coming out during this period, games that tank/get left behind are going to be dropped aggressively by retailers/publishers. Whether Mirror's Edge does this has yet to be seen.
Okay, that makes sense. With this release schedule, we'll be getting Tomb Raider for $20 brand new in April

I haven't been this pumped for a game since Rock Band 1 and 2. The demo solidified any hesitation I had about the game.
I see people bandying about the game's length (I've seen from 6 to 10 hours) as a negative, and it's entirely IMO but I look at it from a very different perspective:
1) A runthrough of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Tomb Raider Legend typically takes me about 6 to 8 hours. This is about my expectation for a puzzle-platformer—especially one in which the entire point of the game is to run as fast and smoothly as possible.
2) A runthrough of Rez takes about 45 minutes, and a "runthrough" of Geometry Wars 2 takes about 10 minutes. The initial playthrough time is only really a concern to me if I only intend on playing the game once, which is rarely the case nowadays.
That said, I can fully understand why people would wait for price-drops and just generally waiting until backlogs clear. These are ridiculous times of plenty for gamers. I'll be waiting on both Tomb Raider Underworld and the new Prince of Persia until after Christmas, and I wouldn't be surprised if either or both were cheaper by then.
I might just go and cancel or move my preorder to something else if this is the case. I could wait for its price to come down, etc.
On a side note... wasn't GTA IV for PC also delayed?
