I can't wait for this...I wrote a play (yeah, yeah, yeah...I know...sad) based on Adventure back in about '79 or '80. Damn, I was such a geek even way back then. I could solve the easy version of this game blindfolded. I could also beat Superman, ET, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Those games were so damn abstract.
Would it be possible to seperate the sounds and music into a seperately downloaded pack, and allow the game to run without them if they aren't present (or to substitute a simpler version)?

The music itself is only 274Kb... Removing it from the download wouldn't really make much of a dent.
I took out some redundant stuff and reworked some things and now the file is 65 megs instead of 100. That's probably about as small as I'll be able to make it though :P
The site is up, but I'll have to send to data to a guy to have it uploaded. (Services are down). PM me there Slash and I can have it stowed away there tomarrow afternoon.
Slash, maybe you could still shave the download size by having the audio packed in OGG or whatever, then having an installation script unpack it all to to WAV.

This is the best idea and I'm jealous that I didn't think of it. I know a lot of abandonware places do this with old games containing CD audio. Slash, can you run a batch script from the installer? If so, I'm willing to do the legwork here and find you a command line MP3 or OGG decoder that can make WAV files for the game and write the script. (I suggest OGG for the free software angle and the ability to produce perfect loops every time coming back out. I've had problems with MP3 encoders and decoders adding silence to my files.)
At that point, I could host the files as well. I could give you a subdomain and FTP account on my hosting, so you'd have control over it. If you wanted to buy a domain, I have unlimited domains. You could grab an account at a registrar like GoDaddy and point it at the subdomain. AdventureReboot.com or something would just be $14 a year.
I currently use about 1% of my monthly bandwidth and disk space. I'd let you know if it ever became an imposition to host.
Edit: I found a free Windows command line .exe that turns ogg files into wav files. I'd just need to test it on the actual game. http://www.rarewares.org/ogg-oggdec.php
Edit 2: It works without a hitch. You type in oggdec ambiance.ogg -w ambiance.wav and in a few seconds you have a perfectly normal WAV file containing the same sound.
I dropped off the game to my hosting guy and it will be on the server first thing. I guess this means the game has officially "gone gold" and we are now waiting on distribution to be in place.
Maybe we should get this on greenhouse :P
Yea, as if... We would be lucky if Khoo would even notice :P
about an hour left!
better post the link to download, i'll be there to play
(i hate studying with a passion)
I'll post the link here, and in the OP, and in the external webpage that I created for the thing.
The link will be to the server that Halkun runs. However, I will also post a link to a Torrent for the file (that Halkun also set up), if people would like to torrent it. Halkun and I will be seeding it initially until at least a few people have it.
Anyway, I'll post all of this info here and the OP and the external site at midnight.

Thanks, it's appreciated!
It's a great feeling to take a project essentially from the very beginning and take it all the way to completion.
The torrent's gonna be slow as it's only Slash and I who are seeding. Help a dude out and seed if you can. I also hope that I have enough bandwidth for you guys via Krythic...

I'll post the FileQube link as well just as a backup.

You're gonna love this game.
Oh well, I've been following it for so long I have to play it.
I don't recall any talking in the game... but each their own I guess.

I think it's time to set a release date!
What do you all think: Tomorrow at Midnight, or Tuesday at Midnight (central)?

Edit: Also, there's a dead image link on the home page.
That's weird; there shouldn't be. GooglePages might be acting up, I dunno. Shouldn't have any dead images because everything is hosted on GooglePages.

Heheh, perhaps. I'm not sure what exactly my options are, given how GF2 works. GF2 likes to incorporate everything into a single file.
Although, it may be capable of loading external files. I'll look into it. But not tonight!
Steam ID: slashx000______Twitter: @bill_at_zeboyd______ Facebook: Zeboyd Games
I thought you were using Games Factory 1 and that's why you couldn't use OGG or MP3 in the first place.
I'll leave it on for the rest of the night, so y'all should have 3 seeders tonight
