the meat circus is terrible
it does not do the rest of the game justice
The Meat Circus is a horrible punisher, but there's tricks to everything. Except for the grating. The climb up those grates is terrible. But still!
You can check out the Double Fine website for tips on how to make the Meat Circus much less awful for yourself.
Or just read this spoiler!
Shield will bounce the knife-throwers' knives right into the wheels.
Confusion will allow you to pick up the rabbit and just give it to Little Morry.
Also, Invisibility on the tightrope will prevent you from being hit by spiky, exploding fiery juggling pins.

The stupid GameTap player isn't working.
It isn't loading the "Download" image for Psychonauts, or the little bar that is supposed to be at the bottom of the screen.

Dammit, I hadn't noticed this thread until now.

I agree this was a fun one, although it had too many jumping puzzles for my tastes. I'll finish it one of these days.
it's a platformer

Yeah, I know. That's why I still won't mind eventually going back and seeing the end of this one.
But after the first hour or so, this game stopped having priority in my brainmeats. There can be only one king game at a time, and right now it looks like Dawn Of War: Soulstorm has been ousted for nigh two months by Fallout 3. Rock Band 2 is a close third, and then there's Fable II.
Whereas Psychonauts has, for years, been somewhere down around #23 of games in the list.
The timing was effed. I loved everything up through Dark Crusade, but I'd only had Soulstorm for about a week when my wife gave me a copy of F3.
Just checked, and yes - there is now a film of dust on my copy of Soulstorm.
Man, F3 better be game of the year. Aside from the crashing, lack of gauss weapons and deterioration of equipment, this is possibly the best game ever.
I kinda wish Double Fine would release a patch that would A: make all cinematics rendered in real time and B: increase all texture sizes and C: resolution. It's a very pretty game, but it really is showing it's age.

Black velvetopia is fantastic.
Why would they do that for a game released almost 4 years ago that sold roughly half that amount?
I'm reading a book called Mind Hacks. Its going into a shitton of detail abotu how the brain words and all the invoulentarry shit it does for us without even realizing.
For instance, the eye cannot see while its moving. Human eyes 'saccade' (pronounced like the annoying ass bug) 5-7 times a second, which is bacically jumping the center of your focal point of vision around your targeted firld of view to take in snapshots of what your seeing. Your brain puts together a high resolution image of the world around you based on these snapshots, and uses that to fill in the blanks when the eye is actually in motion.
An example it says to try is to look at yourself in a mirror, and flick your gaze from one eye to the other. You can't actually see the eyeballs move, its just there. Or if you look at an analog clock (or digital clock that counts seconds) sometimes the second hand just seems to hang there for a moment longer than it should. It doesn't, but it seems to because you didn't actually see the changeover, but your brain knows that it should be in motion and fills in the gaps.
It also talks about your blind spots, which are there because there are no rods or cones at the back of the eye where the optic never actually exits the eyeball. Also that your area of best focus is about as big as the full moon looks on a clear night, everything ourward from that is decreasing resolution but doesn't seem so because the eye is sacchading so often.
Interesting shit, really.

Hah. Now I feel like a bit of a boor for just platforming it. It was hard, but it never really sent me into a rage.

I am playing this game right fucking now.
Also I read all the myspace pages for the ingame characters and I'm going to try and see if the things in them carry on in the game proper.
Brutel Legend needs to come out already.

you can really zoom through this game if you've played it before
I got past the milkman level and into the asylum last night and my played time is like two and a half hours
Is this game worth getting at this point, if I don't have any of that nostalgia stuff? I never really gave this game a second look, but after reading through the awesome Scott C. archives at Double Fine Action Comics, I'm suddenly verrrry interested.

also Milla's secret room in her mind gives me the creeps
They should totally run using SCUMM. I've seen DOTT, S&M, MM, and the Monkey Islands working on both XP and Vista.
Both times, I got disgusted with the meat circus and put it down.

Oh man. That's just about one of the creepiest things in any game.
i keep meaning to replay it but i get distracted by other games and it's like "i know psychonauts is better but i should at least try these out"
I never saw it in playable condition again.
