k, hopefully its starting to make a bit more sense. Still WIPing it.

    Untitled-2-4.jpg

Can't say for sure myself on that building Buck. It was sorta of a left over from a cloud texture photo I placed in screen mode...looked like a cool backdrop so I'd figure I keep for now.

I'm still not a fan of that swirl, Mykonos; if you used it as a ref and painted over it, maybe, but at the moment, it's kind of screaming "Photoshop distortion." Rest of it is much improved there, though.

That's pretty much my thought as well, I imagine if you 'globed' the distortion it could look better, but as was said, right now it looks like you just threw a red dot through the 'swirl' filter.

Just a note about the Tony Soprano Picture. Tony is fatter than what you have drawn, He has a few chins and is a huge dude. You have also drawn his shoulders way way way down and on a slope making him com across as less masculine. Tony's character is a 'bloke' and he is a huge one at that so broaden the shoulders and widen the chin and add a few more chins I think.

10 minute sort of demonstration as to what I think it should be looking more towards10_minute_drawing_by_Leggraphics.jpg

Only thing I would say is that her face looks kind of...lifeless, I don't know; I wish I could offer a suggestion, but I'm not even sure what about gives me that impression. Gut tells me it's something with the mouth, though. Or maybe the eyes.

I did this for my classroom management course. The assignment was that we had to make a graphical representation of each of these seven educational theorists and their classroom-management models. Afterwards, we each emailed the rest of the class our charts for use in studying for an exam next week.

A canter is a kind of walk.

I suspect it's funnier to English majors than anyone else.

mmm I think its because I use a higher opacity, bigger brushes and I am finally using a colour pallet . As stupid as it sounds I havnt actually used a colour palet before, just really started painting with low opacity and then used the eye drop tool etc. I think that was a huge mistake so yeah.. A set few colours works well.. and.. I blocked it in completely first before adding ANY detail and then I worked on the picture as a hole, not little sections at a time and I think that is kinda how it all worked lol... I might spend another hour on it or so soon. Im pissed off because I lost my alien attack drawing because my computer turned off and well... i didn't save *sigh*

Have to say mate I liked it with how the eyes were before better. Gave it a kind of creepy look even though she has a cute little nose, the eyes just made it it really science fiction. Depends what you are going for though.

Myk: I think that is a fair comment by cake. For your own benefit, i think you need to move away from doing this for a while. You're a good artist, but i think you're doing yourself damage by continuing this Andrew Jones and Yoji Shinkawa's styles. the last thing you would want as an artist/illustrator is to get a bad name for yourself, and have people calling you a Andrew Jones copy cat! Are you still at the point where you're illustrating like them because you admire their work so much, or has their style seeped into your work subconsciencously? \

i'll also just say, your last painting of the dude and girl was really cool.

    Anyway... unrelated...

I emailed an illustrator i know (he ran a workshop over the summer, i learnt shit loads!) and he did a paintover of one of my latest images. He illustrated where my perspective was out, and stuff. I added photo texture waaaay too early, when i should have had everything painted in first. Here it is if anyones interested...

Also Myk, it looks like the girls head is just kind of floating there, it looks connected with the neck but it seems oddly disconnected from everything else if that makes sense. Otherwise its just damn awesome, can't wait to see it finished.

The scarf blowing in the wind, if indeed that's what it is, does not very much look like a scarf blowing in the wind. Way too many curves and different kinds of lines.
