MotW: 2-11-2009 - The Fantastic Four? Jealous Frauds.
this was an awesome week, with Batman, GLC, and Incognito, but Thor wins hands down
normally i'm not one for battle scenes in comics, as they're just hard to convey in still panels, but holy shit i was on the edge of my seat through pretty much the entire (main) issue. it really was, and please excuse my usage of a tired internet term but it's really the only word i can think of to describe the issue, epic
Dr Doom and Dracula on the Moon - its the hilarious odd couple sitcom we've all been waiting for and no other comic will feel complete without a cameo of them both on the Moon from now on.
this is coming from someone who didn't care at all about Sabretooth prior to reading this

Always like Sabretooth, but the Origins left me a bit let down. I guess i expected a bit more. But by god, the first few pages of the story were chilling.
Gotta go with GLC, fantastic issue, although a lot of it seemed to be set up for the next one.
It's nice that they are finally trying to put a leader back into power for the sinestro corps though, took em long enough.
why not, uh, Sinestro? you know, the guy the Corps is named after?
Well, he's been kinda busy either being A) in Jail or capture by Red Lanterns. It just seemed like the yellow lanterns were kinda running around with no plans whatsoever, also I like Mongul (not that he'd stay leader... although I think that largely depends on what happens to Sinestro over in the normal GL title)

considering Sinestro is gonna play a big part in Blackest Night, i highly doubt anyone's gonna be taking over his Corps anytime soon

Noone has been in control of the Sinestro Corps since Sinestro was imprisoned and the tagline for this week's GLC was Arkillo vs Mongul for control of the Sinestro Corps. So, I'm not saying they'll stay in command, but Sinestro is not currently in control of his Corps (that we know of, I suppose he could somehow have been running it while imprisoned, but I find that doubtful). And just because Sinestro is playing a big part in Blackest Night does not mean it's as the leader of the Sinestro Corps.
I think I rank it as 3rd worst Marvel story of the last 10 years, after Brand New Day and Nightcrawler's retcon. It'd be #2 except I care more about Nightcrawler.

Yeah, first part was good. Few parts were kinda heavy with the homoerotic subtext later on. It was practically text. Art was great though. Love that cover.
Wolverine #55, at the end of a six-part story that has been awarded the 'worst Wolverine story of all time' trophy.
It seriously read like some 11 year old's fanfic that they had for some reason decided to illustrate.
Just thinking about it makes me angry.
Just thinking of Loeb makes me angry.
nerdrage!
Reading these comments about Loeb's Evolution story make me glad I skipped it when I was collecting all of the current Wolverine issues in trade format. Speaking of which damn was Greg Rucka's issues badass. I'll probably switch to Jason Aaron's Wolverine book when Dark Wolverine starts though.

I think my moment of the week was re-reading the second half of All-Star Superman in the hardbound vol. 2. I don't know if that's actually legal to nominate, though.

Thor 600 was good, I loved the Lee/Aja part.
Perfectly legal.
Thor 600 sold out at my shop, but I think I'll get it because I've heard so many great things about it.

My only problem with Thor is that he listened to a word that came out of Loki's mouth, instead of smashing his teeth in with Mjolnir and demanding to know where Sif is.
Well that's the thing about being the Trickster god. You can't really hold your head high and call yourself such if you can't even outsmart your idiot stepbrother.
That was one of the funnier things about Thor in Sandman. Gaiman really played up the angle where he was a brainless fool who just smashed things.

I liked the Batman: Year one parallel in Nightwing.

Guess I'll have to go back to the shop tomorrow.
Batman was fantastic. The Gentleman's Gentleman's Tale was particularly great.
It was mostly a recap, but a very well told one.
Here I was thinking they'd never bother given that they've killed him off.
