Hey there, kiddos.
Take a gander at your movie shelf over there. Go ahead, give it a good once over.
How many do you have sitting there? 20, 50, 100, even more? You've probably spent hundereds or even thousands of dollars on your video collection over the years and now they're just sitting there.
Take a look again. I bet it's likely that quite a few of you have a fair amount of DVDs, VHS tapes, or BluRays that you haven't seen in years, only watched once, or possibly even haven't taken out of the shrink-wrap yet. These pieces of entertainment that you chose to spend your hard earned cash on, ranging anywhere from 5 to upwards of 30 bucks, just taking up space.
Here is what I am doing, and I invite you all to do the same.
Amy and I have decided to start going through our entire collection of movies from A to Z. It may take some time, but we'll watch some stuff that we love that we haven't seen in a long time for whatever crazy, lazy reasons. We originally planned on going through just the movies, but we may include our TV show box sets as well.
So go to your shelf, grab the first movie in alphabetical order and watch it when you've got some time. When you finish that, go to the next one. Any time you feel like watching something, don't go to the old standbys that you always watch, just hit the next one down the line, no cheating and jumping forward to something just because you really wanna see that one. And no skipping movies. If you really don't wanna watch something you own, why do you own it then, smart guy?
When you watch a movie, come back here and tell us about what you watched. Tell us the title and a brief, spoiler free description of the flick, and if you wanna have more discussion about what you liked and didn't like or why you own this movie or whatever, add more to your post in a spoiler tag, so people who also enjoy that movie can see what you liked about it, or what it means to you.
If you're reading the thread, don't click the damn spoilers unless you've seen the movie or don't care about it being ruined for you.
I'll go first.
We've started on
The 10th Kingdom. (numbers come before letter A)
This isn't really a movie, but a mini-series that aired on NBC (I think) several years ago. It's John Laroquette and the chick who was the daughter in the Father of the Bride movies magically falling into a fantasy world where fairy tales actually happened. But it's treated with more of a grown-up perspective. It is kinda fluff, but still fairly fun, particularly the Wolf character.
I really enjoyed this dopey show when it was on, and Amy and I watched faithfully every night until it was over. I think this DVD set was a present from me to her a few years ago. Even though we own it, I haven't seen it since it aired on TV and I don't remember much of it at all, so it's a treat to go through the story again.
We've gotten through the second disk of three so far, and Virginia and Tony just found out the Evil Queen they've been dealing with is actually Tony's runaway wife and Virginia's mother. Wolfy just left the group for now, as he wasted a bunch of money that he could have used to help get the magic Travelling Mirror back to send Tony and Virginia back home to New York.
I hadn't remembered much of the story, but the one scene that really stood out in my memory though, was for the sheperdess contest and Virginia had to make up a sheep song, so she just changed around the words to We Will Rock You and the whole town joins in. It's silly and fun.
I don't remember what happens at the end or even where it's going, but I'm looking forward to it.

But still

Secret Satan 2013 Wishlist
Pretty much, though my indexing of it has helped with me watching more stuff.
also, I just realized it's not alphabetized, so that in itself would be a monstrous task.
I would happily watch Milla Jovovich kick ass half naked in anything. Plot be damned.
Secret Satan 2013 Wishlist
I think my mom got a crush on Wolf when she watched it
Isn't that anything she's in, though?
I haven't even seen any of the movies, so that's a good excuse to buy it, right?
as in if I saw her running towards me I would be fearful of being impaled
And I think I'd be starting with 300.
But really, I don't think I'll ever want to watch Double Dragon ever again.
I'm not sure why I own it either.
