Wait why would they change the weapon thing. That is ridiculous. How was it a bad thing
er the weapon thing while disguised i am talking about
Well it may have been at least a somewhat unpleasant thing in certain situations from the perspective of a spy on the job. I mean the man just wants to clock in, clock out, sleep with the engineer's wife, and come home with a briefcase of secret documents, eh?
That's a right nob when your disguise lacks credibility. Here's a man who forgot his shotgun at home, and possibly misplaced his boxing gloves in the company shower? Yeah pal, eat lead.
Made for an interesting game last night where our entire team of engineers agreed to always run with shotguns and the enemy spies were all 'hey look at me with my wrench' OH NOES

Geez everybody always forgets the other nasty Spy change: they can see enemy health now while disguised. So if they ever see somebody low on health they can just revolver them for a free kill.
yep, probably the most useful spy change outside of quick backstab. Definitely helps you decide whether you need to run away or just kill the dude who's pursuing you.
If it hasn't been mentioned yet I'm pretty sure you can enemy the name of enemy spies while they're cloaked (if you're disguised obviously). I kind of like it, actually. Spy vs spy already has an awesome dynamic and now it's taken to the XXXtreme.

Yeah now some snipers try to back against walls now that we can't sidestab. It's funny when they unscope with that dumb look on their face and die to revolver rounds.
Also, knife taunt is going to be a kill taunt. Called it right here.
Spy update, Scoped magnum: Magnum now has a scope, and can "aim" his shot to increase damage. +50% damage, +25% accuracy, -50% reload speed, -50% firing speed, -10% movement speed from the extra weight.

nope, it will be the disguise kit, gas cloud or something.
Oh man they are protecting their backs and it's working the cads.
Oh wait it is okay because I can do 160 damage in three shots in 1.2 seconds and lulz.
*foam foam
I don't get it. Why is it commonly accepted that if I fuck up and let someone get close to me I should die, but I can, for example as with duld earlier, unmask a spy a good six feet away from me and then get killed as he backpedals because his magnum trumps my smg by a ridiculous margin... and that's okay?
Basically why is it ok for a spy to fuck up and still have a pretty great chance of killing when a sniper deserves death if any class gets within, say, 15 feet, am I missing something here.

edit: ITT Gerbil misses the point.
Sniper needs a ghillie suit, something to conceal him better. Could give it 50% slow movement or something as a downfall.

Same reason it's okay for you to sit in the very back and insta kill people who can't fight back I guess.

I'm not sure if you're doing that specifically to annoy me. But on the chance you're not-
Actually, noooo. No no. Not getting drawn into this.
You can see my thoughts on the sniper via the spectrum of an analysis for his update in a post I made here, which is where I detail what I believe to be his strengths and weaknesses.
I will say, though, that to any half-decent player, especially of spy, distance is really not much of an obstacle.

Yeah jeez, sniper's my most played class too but I don't think it's the least bit unfair that a spy would have the upper hand if he gets the drop on you. I machete them plenty often as it is.

So let me get this straight, Flippy is annoyed that the long range class is losing to the Spy in close range combat?
Are you aware of the old robot saying: DOES NOT COMPUTE?
Let me posit this to you: the pyro, the short range class, got a flare gun, a long range weapon.
But flippy, the flare gun only does 30 damage and a subsequent 50-60 damage of burning so I guess actually a maximum of 90 which is over half [strike]four[/strike] six classes' health bar, I hear you say!
Was the pyro, pre-patch, anything but a short-range specialist? No. Why wasn't there an outcry over that weapon? Is he doing less damage, or getting less kills and/or assists than the sniper? No. Actually, he's beating him on all three.
Yeah I'm not asking for something that is going to be doing rocket-level damage. I'm saying that the spy shouldn't be able to waltz up to a sniper, fuck everything up, get discovered, and then still have a very very favourable chance at killing him.
The justification seems to be 'yeah well you just sit back and do nothing' and that somehow mid and close combat is harder or less efficacious or something. The stats don't really support that.
edit:
Are you seriously fucking whining about not noticing spies now?
Go fuck yourself.
In all seriousness, go fuck yourself.
Zen why do you always seem to go out of your way to misinterpret what I've said. I literally said if I catch them then I'd like a better chance to kill them, and that I don't see why this is such an objectionable thing. If I don't see them and they stab me then they deserve it and I die, I cannot actually see where the hell you've got 'not noticing' from.
second edit: and also do you mind, there is seriously no cause for being that hostile.

Still dumb.
Now moreso.
I was not aware of this.
I was joking before.
But it was ruined by someone giving legitimate answers.
I want fewer engy spies.

Yeah, it is.
FYI you can check the OP for status of the servers.
I missed the little dot.
If you find a spot where your back is covered they don't get their backstab, you turn and fire before they get their third knife stroke.
Exhillerating.
