I searched the forum and didn't find any specifics, does PAX have specific board games set up, or can anyone just bring any game and get together? If so, i think this is a good place to arrange some bigger, longer games that might be played...specifically several hour-long games...or whatever.
Me, if i end up having the money to go, would love to play some good old Monopoly, as well as any Axis and Allies, plus some Bohnanza.
I know they had Settlers of Catan there for use last year and Wizards had a whole mess of their products around.
I'm certain there will be just as much if not more this year (also considering the fact that people such as yourself will decide on bringing extra games at some point.)
If a game could be organized during some downtime or after the shows are over, I'd totally be down for a game or two.

Both times I went in they didn't have catan, and I couldn't find anyone playing catan (must have taken it into a room or something.) I finally brought my catan, the six player expansion and two guys, but was only ever able to find a fourth player.

id be up for playing catan with you. Ive never played but ive only heard good things
I'm considering bringing "Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot" (with Blue/Yellow/Red/Violet decks). That's still "up in the air" as it's a game my wife enjoys and if any card goes missing...
On the other hand, I'm bringing "Pink Godzilla Dev Kit", which I believe made it's debut at PAX once upon a time.
If for some reason I show up empty handed, Pink Godzilla will most likely have a shop set up in the vendor area as they are local to Seattle anyway.

Dev Kit is awesome and last year they were selling decks for $10 each! So deliciously nerdy and the build quality of the game is pretty high (nice cards, case divider, nice plastic card case). Definitely one of my top items obtained at PAX last year.

gahh, i hate the killer bunnies game, i played it at a friends house a few months ago. i was never a fan of how to win you just need to have the correct bunny in hand. All of my scheming is for nothing =(
Ill bring Last Night on Earth, just in case i find some zombie lovers to play it with

HELL YEAH!! I played it at PAX last year for the first time at the demo booth for an hour and was hooked. Went home and immediately bought it. So much fun dicking people over with Shamble.
I'll have my Fluxx and Monty Python Fluxx cards on my person at most times of the day, as well as bringing along my old school Magic deck, mostly made up of pre-5th ed cards (4th ed and Revised). I'll show them youngens how realy MTG is played dag nabbit!

Man I hate that freaking shamble card in that game. Sometimes I think the rules are skewed a bit too much in favor of the zombies; the guy that usually plays it around here just tends to totally wipe the floor with us between bad dice rolls and zombie shamblin' lovin'.
I'm trying to decide if I want to pick something up to bring with me or maybe just bring an old Magic deck or something; I'm assuming WOTC has a presence there right?

Maybe its our horrible dice rolls. For instance, the last time we played we played on the scenario where a certain number of zombies have to get into the house. It took 10 turns for me to find a weapon sitting in one of the buildings and trying to fight off the zombie incursion...
The most broken thing is Billy the Jock and the chainsaw. He can stop midmove and fight zombies and they can't slow him down. The chainsaw allows him to re-roll fight dice till he beats the zombie. So broken.

The weapons in that game always tend to break on first roll from me. I'm cursed with horrible dice roll luck.
First, a question to the crowd. Does anyone know how much space is devoted to roleplaying? Is it a ballroom? A small side room? A long hallway? A comfortable space of carpeting?
Secondly, how many amongst you who would be interested in playing Shadowrun 4th Edition at PAX?

I think its up in the air this year because the place where it was held last year (the annex place across the street from the convention center) is undergoing some sort of construction and will most likely not be available. Im sure someone else here can give you a more detailed answer, though
We haven't yet settled on a location for Tabletop. There is talk about it being off site at a hotel but I haven't been given a final location yet.
By all means, bring your games, or come and check some out from the library, there are tons of places to play and you are welcome to play anything you bring, buy or borrow.
Need some help, I'm looking for a new boardgame. Recently a friend found a mint copy of Heroquest and we have been playing that and it is soo good. I am looking for something like that, a little more complicated preferably (not Twilight Imperium hard) and has a sci-fi setting.
I was hoping for Tabletop to be in the same location as last year. The room where we held the Warhammer 40K and Apocalypse games was one of the side areas and just about perfect in size.

It wont be. The Pike street WSCTC Annex is undergoing renovation during pax this year so its not available for pax to rent out.
Thats.. not good. But the Annex was awesome for tabletop and other shenanigans! I had a great time wandering around there with Plusone and doing the puzzle stuff and watching Munchkin games.
Normally I would say the criteria for being a tabletop game is:
1) Tabletop needed
2) You play with it
3) It is fun
The problem is that by that breakdown, even Mashed Potatoes are a tabletop game.
I've laughed hard at this multiple times. I'm going to use this with my son.
"Playing with your mashed potatoes is totally okay Coop because it REALLY IS A GAME! But just so you know, the only way to beat the game is to eat the 'tatoes :P"
I read it as Coop but more like Hanging With Mr. Cooper and thus I assumed his son is a 30ish, tall black man.
hey! adoption laws don't prohibit me adopting a 30ish, tall black man. there are serious advantages to having a big dude 4 years my senior as my son. teaching him to play team fortress has been a little trying though... for some reason he just wants to hang out around the house telling bad jokes and offering half baked advice.
for some reason, I think I should have adopted omar gooding instead...
Serenity/Cortex SystemRPG. I own the books, I just need a group to try it out. Hail Browncoats!
Margaret Weis Productions actually did a good job working with the system to get the game mechanics pretty smooth. It suits. I'd totally be down for giving it a whirl. I've had the book for a couple of years now and Haven't had anyone to play it with.
Title says it all - do people play mini wargames at PAX? Thinking about bringing my Warhammer 40k army, but it's kind of a hassle if there isn't really a venue for it.
That, and looking for excuses to put off painting dozens of Tyranids....
Ooh, I like tabletop war games! I don't have any Warhammer 40k...
but...
Does anyone have, and want to play, Chronopia?
I know it's not likely, but I loved those miniatures, I think I still have the book somewhere, and I think their game mechanic was pretty nifty.
I may have to look into Warhammer 40k, and maybe buy/paint a small set if it's not too pricey (and I have time) if no one's into Chronopia, because I would love to get one game in at least.
It's true. Warmachine/Hordes is a bit more reasonable, I'm just getting into that now and it seems you could have a playable army for $100. I'm hoping to have at least 500 points ready to go by PAX. Fewer models means it's a hell of a lot easier to transport as well.

The second set should be out by the time PAX is up (possibly a third set), and its a great tabletop game.

I seem to recall Wil Wheaton saying he also plays Car Wars. Celebrity Endorsement Deal?

Would it be odd to have Poker one of the nights?

WoW TCG.
Senji? I may bust it out and teach some people. It's great fun for 5-6 people. Any below that, I say not so. It's all about the hanafuda!
