(guess whose family has to choose between health care and having a house next month!)
see, this is why I can't take you seriously
look, I realize your family is on hard times but you do still have healthcare available at no cost
the quality of care is worse, but plenty of homeless or nearly homeless people avail themselves of public health services all the time
and that's all far more than the people we're talking about in the Marianas Islands get
so it's hard to feel all that much sympathy for you when you're all, "dude I know what these people are going through! my family has to choose between top notch health care or our nice home! we might have to rent!"
Some people just do not have a sense of how to live outside their lifestyle
My aunt basically took her inheritance from my grandparents even though it left them destitute
Her justification: Otherwise she wouldn't have been able to buy a house
Apparently, working for a living and renting an apartment weren't an option
So the Texas Board of Education voted in new science standards. Eugenie Scott said on NPR that the creationists on the board are getting wiggle room to push some "teach the controversy" subtext into science textbooks.
Apparently teachers are no longer required to teach the age of the Universe.
Which, you know, you may not necessarily care, but Texas is such a large market that other states end up buying the same Texas-modified textbooks.
Here's an idea: instead of freaking out about the shrinking arctic, why don't we do something about it?
Something like cutting down on carbon emissions, instead of sitting around and talking about it.
there are people who still think, despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary, that man-made climate-change isn't a problem
some of these people are our legislators!
its very very odd!
my uncle Bill (who's like, in his late 70s maybe even 80s) used to do a lot of atmospheric research as a consultant for the air force and he has some really cool stories of some of the experiments they conducted back then
he's retired now of course, but he was also doing research solo on the condition of the beaches here in Puget Sound (laying down plots on beaches and tracking population density over time of different invertebrates as well as erosion rates of the beaches)
really smart guy, but he won't hesitate to tell anyone that man made global warming is pure poppycock
we all have our biases I guess

I've never read anything like these textbooks
the book im reading now A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson talks about the asshole who back in the 1600s declared the earth to be 6000 years old after studying the bible, but then goes on to tell instances where the church even said that wasnt true and the possibility of multiple creations etc etc
ill post more in detail tomorrow cause im going to bed i have to learn about potential wells at 8 am tomorrow morning uuuuuughhhh

which just get smaller and smaller
so eventually they'll choke and die
Exactly
IS THERE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE EFFECTS OF THESE TWO TREATMENTS FOR COCAINE ADDICTION?
WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF TYPE I AND TYPE II ERRORS IN THE CONTEXT OF STUDIES ON AMBULANCE RESPONSE TIME?

edit: yep never mind. it was supposed to be something to make electric motors more efficient. I don't know why I pull this bullshit.
I just don't see what the big deal is
chill out man
